I don't have any idea about US embassy jobs. But I think sometimes USAID has Job openings. If you have Manila Bulletin last Sunday, then you'll see two job openings for provincial development programs.

Don't you have to take the US Foreign Service Exam first to work for the US embassy?

A friend of mine just passed the exam and he's awaiting his clearances before he gets assigned to an embassy somewhere.

Good going on your friend's part. I've taken all sorts of exams and I can say that the US Foreign Service Exam is a very tough exam. Probably the toughest I've seen yet.

If you apply for the jobs that they advertise for locally then no, you won't get any better of a salary.

Just apply to the embassy in general and you'll get the US salary (which btw, is not great by US standards but terrific for here). You will however, run the risk of being assigned to Timbuktu or something.
