i was lucky to find a job as soon as i graduated and worked as a finance and admin assistant. after 6yrs of working and continuous promotions i am already part of the top management. but financial crisis struck the company, and is now in terrible shape. i have a load of responsibilities on my back and i no longer want to stay in an unstable company.

now, the question is: how shall i say to my potential employer/s that i came from an ailing company, given my situation?

since i handled the finance dept, would my potential employer/s assume that the blame was on me and not consider me for a position?

i really need your opinions and suggestions on this. my situation has left me with low self-esteem.

Were you the CFO? Is the financial instability directly caused by your mismanagement? Are you being sued by your stockholders, superiors, customers, creditors, or suppliers?

I doubt it. If I owned a company, I would not dare place such responsibilities on someone with six years' work experience.

When your prospective employers ask you about your current employment, be frank and tell the truth. I would love to have everyone I work with spend time with a distressed company. The experience gives them a whole new perspective on things. It's a little like sports teams. You must learn how to lose to appreciate how to win.
