i tried na dito, mahirap ang examination tapos business attire pa, first exam is making 3 business letters, tapos napakaraming sets of questions, after the exams, malalaglag na yung iba. yung makakapasa sa exam ay may next batch of exam pa tapos interview, sayang nga kc hotel ang nature nila so they are looking for graduates of hrm or any business course, nasa last stage na ko eh. try nyo baka iba na ang hinahanap nila, customer care kc kayo ng mga hotels sa ibat-ibang bansa.

Is anyone already working at IHG? How's compensation, management, workj environment, the work itself? Fun or stressful? Am guessing since it's cust. service for hotels, it should be less stressful & kinda fun! =)

Thanks junjon! Let us know how things go when you start! =)

junjon Thanks for letting us know re: the application process. Parang tough ata ang exam dun ha. Just submitted my resume' kanina then they told me to wait for their call for the phone interview (first stage). Pero since me customer service background na ako, will that somewhat give me an edge?

Alright, this afternoon I received a call from them and they asked something about the stuff that I indicated in my resume'. After that, they asked me to report to their office this Friday morning at their offices for the initial exam, where they asked me to come in business attire. Can anyone please help me re: how the exam goes (aside from the fact na pulos business letters raw yan)?

Thanks a lot! :)

hi, i used to work here but after 3 months resigned. actually, the work is easy kasi you're sort of customer service for their priority club members(frequent stayers. you just reserve rooms for them, and update their membership points for their club. kaso it just so happened na nagsawa ako sa account. and yung four days work, it means you work for 4 days pero 11 hours *** shift. so parang in-offset lang *** pang-5th day mo dapat... dapat business casual attire kasi building policy ng rcbc and they try to retain *** idea na hotel sila so dapat mejo formal. ganda facilities nila dito chaka mac *** mga PCs na ginagamit dito.

another thing pala, you can choose naman *** d\5-day shift and 9 hours work e.. shift bidding po kasi depending on performance. even during training dapat maganda performance mo, para pag live na kayo sa floor, makuha mo *** gusto mong sched.

maude Thanks for the info.

I went there last Friday for the exam and interview. junjon was right all along in describing the exam, marami nga ang naalis. Then initial interview. After the initial interview, he told me na they will evaluate my application and will give me a call on or before Wednesday to let me know if I move on to the next stages.

Wala lang, pero ganyan ang hiring process ng IHG? Just asking :)

my best friend is working there. OK siya sabi niya. saka if maganda stats mo pwede kang 4 days lang pumasok anytime mo gusto. as in wala kang scheduled shift. pero pag downtime lang ata yun. tatanong ko uli.

mababa ang basic pay dito. pag new grad ka, 12k lang. pag may experience ka, 12,500 and so on depending on experience. tapos 2k lang ang allowance. 15% lang ang night diff dito.

very strict rin dito. may gawin ka lang isang mali, you're out of a job. may palakasan rin...maraming mayabang na akala mo kung sino umasta eh pare-pareho lang naman kaming agents.

pangit ang environment...that's why i resigned after 4 mos.

meron namang OT pay ah! wala lang OT pay if you're a trainer or sa HR...pero for agents, there's OT pay...in IHG, it's called EH or extra hours...

exactly, and please, training isn't the answer for everything, it's not an overnight thing, it's a process. being a tainer is a difficult job, it's like being a coach in a basketball team, if your team wins, it's because players perform better, they're good, has the experience, and well-motivated, but when they lose, it's because the coach/trainer is not good, not a good motivator, and doesn't have the capability to influence people. well, recruitment comes first before the training, so better check the process on the first muna.

yung 4 days/week work sched, i think sa mga agents lang. but other departments that have day shifts, 5 days pa rin. When I took the exam, PART (not all) of it was drafting letters/memo (based on a given situation), then there were the stuff that you would find in a standard company exam; logic, grammar, analysis, etc. A part of their exam was even similar to Globe's. Siguro you would find it weird why me letter-making sa exam nila, maybe because they want to know if you would be qualified for other positions too aside from the one you're applying for.

About the OT pay, baka naman nagkataon lang yun purple witch. Minsan kase lampas na sa cut-off nasusubmit yung mga OT and leave forms sa Acctg. dept kaya ciempre di agad pumapasok sa payroll. It happened to me once or twice but na-ccredit naman siya agad the following payday.

Yes, there are people here who act like they own the place but kahit saang workplace naman meron diba? Keber ko sa kanila di naman sila magpapa-sweldo sakin and hindi ko sila ka-department! As for the American big boss here, our director, he's strict when it comes to rules and regulations, but he still listens to what the employees have to say when it comes to certain things. Like what happened recently, muntik ng hindi niya ipabigay yung full Sick Leave payout sa amin because mawawalan daw kami ng balance, what if biglang kailangan mag-sick leave wala na raw magagamit. But I think as early as July or August last year, HR already sent out a memo that all unused SLs will be converted to cash this January 15. Well an agent had the guts to e-mail him and express his opinion na a lot of people were expecting a full payout, etc. etc. To make a long story short, the director changed his decision, apologize to all of us and allowed HR to give the full payout. I admired both of them after that, the agent for being brave enough to voice out everybody's opinion (which could have gotten him fired if the director was an *******) and the director for not being proud to admit he had made a mistake.

As for my boss(es) in Atlanta, no complaints so far, every time they visit us here at Manila they been very good towards our team and really recognize and appreciate the work we do (which kinda puts the pressure on us not to mess up, hehe)

I have no problem with the HR people, most of them are friendly and approachable, i just don't like the HR manager (she looks "plastic"). Oops! and i hate the IT manager, he's incompetent, mas magaling pa yung ibang staff niya sa kanya (honestly!)

I'm actually working here na sa IHG, pero i don't know kung tama desisyon ko na piliin to over Vision-X. I actually had the job offer the same day with IHG and VXI. kaso i choosed IHG. mas attractive ang pay dito sa IHG compared sa VXI, kaso i'm not sure pagdating sa commission. could anyone help me shed some light kung dapat ako magsisi for choosing IHG compared VXI. kapag nalinawan ako, I MIGHT consider transferring sa VXI!

starfish82
May 3, 2006, 01:44 AM
i think pag dating sa commision mas maganda ang vxi. pero madali lang **** sa IHG kc reservations lang (which im guessing dun ka napuntang dept). kaya lang i think theres a lot of negative stuffs about VXI (they have a forum here u can check it out to get additonal infos). what i dont like about IHG is palakasan system. walang growth pag di mo sila "friends". im not sure about reservation dept kc nag start lang *** ng jan.

anyways goodluck!

Just started with IHG a few weeks ago, I chose to sign with IHG over the higher offer of Sutherland. Yes, some would say that the initial basic pay is low, cos everyone is thinking that it's a call center. The set-up is like a call center because you're taking in calls, but you're working for the hotel. Ergo, they really won't give you what you're expecting.

I guess, if you're after the pay, you won't sign with IHG. But if you came from a very TOXIC account like I did, you'd think about the workload first... cos being in Reservations is easier...

Plus.. you get discounts in all hotels under the IHG umbrella worldwide. So, that's a plus... :)

Leif_Erikson
Jul 14, 2007, 01:38 PM
Pray tell me, how can you use the employee discounts at all IHG hotels worldwide if in the first place, you can't even afford to go abroad with your salary; and in the second place, how can you use the discount when you can't afford the hotel room rates on your low salary?

BTW, the RCBC center still is a call center, in-house nga lang, cuz they TAKE IN calls from people who want to make reservations.

newyorker
Jul 15, 2007, 08:26 AM
Ha! ha! ha! I like u guy! very logical comment! I am working with IHG now...and yes it is a call center...ang advantage lang eh "in-house" so mas may stability. At mabibilang sa daliri ang local hotels ng IHG. Also, you will enjoy the "employee rate" upon regularization pa.

At sino maysabing petiks? eh graveyard shift ako ngayon sa PClub super dami ng calls...as in nagooverlap pa minsan! kaya nga I dnt even realize na 3am na kasi walang patid ang calls ngayon.

Pray tell me, how can you use the employee discounts at all IHG hotels worldwide if in the first place, you can't even afford to go abroad with your salary; and in the second place, how can you use the discount when you can't afford the hotel room rates on your low salary?

BTW, the RCBC center still is a call center, in-house nga lang, cuz they TAKE IN calls from people who want to make reservations.

again, on my end, i am not complaining. i came from another call center which pays higher, pero i chose to be with IHG since HRM grad ako. yes, in-house sila, walang client that you have to please. if salary is all that you want, hindi nga dapat IHG ang maging work mo. everyone complains, it's a matter of perspective. i choose to see it differently, it's no longer a matter of how i'm going to use my employee rate come regularization. i work, and i can afford the hotel room rates...

Jul 27, 2007, 02:26 AM
and the discount that we're talking about here is not your idea of discount na nakukuha mo basta-basta sa mga low-end hotel.

just imagine my recent trip sa HK, i stayed with one of our hotel there. the daily rate there is approximately PhP 11,000 ++, with our employee rate i got the chance to pay like PhP 3,000 ++ (depende sa exchange rate).... halos kalahati! kaya nga kami sa team magiinuman lang, maghohetell p kami. hindi naman sa pagmamayabang pero sawa narin kami....... kaya mga hotels naman namin abroad ang target namin!

I have a friend who works there. I even applied there too and got repeated calls from them after I didn't show up for the interview (due to sched conflicts).

My friend said OK lang di ako pumunta kasi maliit lang sweldo doon. 14-15k lang ang takehome pay niya daw. Considering he lives in Antipolo and works in ICHG in Makati, it's not much.

bakit mas mataas ang RATE SA BAGUIO??? kesa sa manila site???

Here i am again,5 long months after my last post and kinda 'missed tuloy ang PEX thread and i got questions left unanswered.First off with Masteveit's query, initial offer here is 16.5k++ and if i'm gonna dissect that figure it would mean 13.5k (basic) + 2k (allowance) + 1k(skills allowance) +1k (CHAMP=perfect attendance w/ no OB)+2k(operational incentives)-Ops incentives varies on individual performance, can be lower or even higher than 2k.Let's check Labuyo XVIII's - hey bro! hope ur doin' great down there in manila...Well,PHPRO is growing literally and figuratively...From 3rd qtr of 2007 'til now we grew by more than 150% (30agents by '07 - almost 400 1st/2nd qtr of '09).Employee satisfaction? the greatest so far in all the centers worldwide with 80% satisfactory ratings results from our ESPS and Employee surveys(even higher than that of SLCRO,CHSRO,PHLRO and all CROs).So what's new in PHPRO,by next wk 4April it's gonna be our 2nd Open House, employees can invite their families & friends even competitors from other Call centers and live the intercontinental life that day so they can see with their own eyes how good it is to work here in IHG.Visitors and guests will enjoy our spacious location, can have picnics everywhere w/in the center and enjoy free foods(mostly grilled),games and booths(thanx to Coke as our sponsor) set up by different teams plus get a tour inside and out of the office.
Hope you can come over to PHPRO once you vist Baguio and we'll be glad to give you a tour.Until, next time!

I'm gonna explain it in less than 5 sentences. When every if not all company here in Baguio started to do cost-cutting,down-sizing and even shortening workdays and worktime.IHG Baguio is continously hiring the best people, offering Extra hours or OT (i mean offer & not obliged),have a center gimiks like Open House,Room-to Grill days(managers even the Site Director make IHAW for our agents fav BBQ,grrilled burgers, hotdogs, etc) ,Dress-like- something workdays and most of all annual merit increases. No wonder Trainers,Team leads & Admins of other call centers in Baguio are opting to become an agent and that's not easy çoz you gotta have guts and balls to swallow ur pride and not think of your EGO,if you know what i mean (IHG agent salary = or > than any TLs/trainers in Baguio).Ciao!

Hey killerinstinct - PHLRO's doing great! We're migrating floors. PClub is going down to the 28th and the HSG and DSG are going up the 29th. I know what you mean - Room to Grill? WOW!!! Management here also started handing out food at the breakroom since Spring Break started - which means added revenue for the company - and that means, MORE CALLS offered and answered for those who are in Reservations.

ESPS starts next week - it's time again to be heard. May letter na ba sa inyo regarding merit increase? April na this coming wednesday and wala pa ang letters, eh.

Hello to everyone in PHPRO! :) *wave*

Hi! First off, good luck sa interview mo this coming Thursday. :) Customer Care ba ang post mo? If so, you'll be handling concerns and issues from our members from all over the world - Americas, EMEA, APAC and ANZ.

Depende kasi yan, eh. If you get into Reservations, most of the time US guests yan, depending on the time of the day, you get calls from all around the world. Pero may dedicated department na din for APAC and ANZ sa Reservations.

Again, good luck.

I am scheduled for an interview as well but I'm having second thoughts about pursuing my application because of the pay. according to killerinstinct "initial offer here is 16.5k++" including allowances. I am getting more than that with the call center that I'm currently working for. Is the 16.5k++ the standard offer for all prospective employees or do you get a much higher offer if you're a tenured CSR. I hope that someone will be able to shed light on this matter. thanks!

Hi, if you're looking for a high-paying company, IHG might not be the company for you. Again, this is a Service Center with a call center set-up. The work here is fairly easy, hence a seemingly "lower" pay compared to other call centers.

It actually really depends? I guess ganito na now. Two years ago (when I applied for the company), one day processing lang. But then again, it depends if there's a Manager available to interview you. After the final interview, I already had my JO.

Does IHG an equal opportunity employer? (kulit ko..hehe)

Nature of work sa IHG? Hotel work in a call-center set-up. Well, for the most part - kung phone ka. Kung off-the-phone ka naman, normal office hotel work ang feel.

I'm not sure. Depends sa department. Sa Customer Care ata and Reservations.

Nagkaroon kami ng opening for non-phone, eh. They've been screening a lot for that post.

what positions are non-phone? And How do I apply?

Most of the openings are for phone positions, if I'm not mistaken. How to apply? Go to the 29th Floor of RCBC Plaza Tower II and hand in your resume.

I know you only accept college graduates. Has the policy changed, regarding that? I mean, do you accept college undergrads now?
