They were one of the first to take their manufacturing operations and office services offshore back in the 70s, and the systems and processes they invented are still being used in the BPO biz today.

GE unit to open first RP BPO site

Genpact, a subsidiary of General Electric (GE) and India's largest business process outsourcing (BPO) provider, is set to open within the second half its first site in the country.

Industry sources told BusinessWorld in separate interviews that Genpact will lease half of Plaz@A in Northgate Cyberzone information technology ( IT) Park in Alabang, south Metropolitan Manila.

Developed by Cyberzone Properties, Inc. of Filinvest Development Corp., this new building is a six-storey facility with total floor space of 10,800 square meters.

The remaining half will be leased to call center firm eTelecare Global Solutions, which is set to open its fifth site with 900 seats by third quarter this year.

Sought for comment, Genpact did not answer questions sent by this paper, but its foray in the Philippines was briefly mentioned in one of the articles posted in its official website.

When asked by India-based magazine Business Today in its May 7 issue on its position on competition facing India-based BPOs, Genpact said:

"They [Indian-based BPOs] do face competition, which is why we are expanding fast. We are already present in low-cost destinations and we will be opening a new center in the Philippines soon. But India will never lose its relevance for the industry because of its huge population base and talent."

Now only 33%-owned by GE, Genpact was put up in 1997 as a captive BPO arm-servicing purely GE BPO requirements under the name GE Capital International Services or GECIS.

In 2004, GE eventually sold 60% of the firm's stake to private equity firm General Atlantic Partner and Oak Hill Capital Partner. As a result of the acquisition, it transformed into a third-party vendor, in which it began servicing other clients aside from GE and changed its name to Genpact.

We're currently starting our Product Training and we're supposed to start taking calls by mid-August, pero hindi pa namin sure kasi nga hindi pa tapos yung building sa Alabang.

The training is being held at the GE Office in Makati (near Nissan Mantrade) and most of us make use of the GE Service to and from work. Subsidized ang food kaya hindi na kami lumalabas.

Just to clear some points... We're NOT being sent to India or the US. The CSMs, or the TLs, will be sent to the US this July for just 10 days to get a feel of the operations in the US. GENPACT is different from GE Money Servicing. GENPACT is Out-Source & GEMS is In-House. We are servicing Credit Cards that are co-branded with GE or connected to GE. Our function is much like HSBC's Customer Care but with only around 3 Portfolios. Our President is Indian, but we have staff from the PI, Canada & the US as well. May mga kasama na kami from Wave 2 & 3 kasi may mga Wave 1 na nag-quit for personal reasons.

training schedules for batch1 is 12am-9am and 12:30am-9:30am for batch 2....

For GE, you would be having a good salary and allowance. I think taxable din *** allowance. Downside is, you will only get the medical benefits and earn leaves after 6 months

Sorry sa mga nag-PM ng questions, kasi now lang ako nakabalik dito sa PEx.

Anyway, I can't divulge the Basic Salary, kasi hindi pare-pareho ang offer. Let's just say na it's much, much better than what HSBC has offered me for the same amount of time that I've spent in the industry. It's more than the average going rate of Call Centers. Basic Salary starts on the 1st day of training.

The training for 1 of the systems is grueling. Madaming codes kasi, but we hardly ever use it. Otherwise, okay naman ang training. First 2 days are GE Orientation. Promise, magsasawa kayo sa term na "Integrity." Next 4 days are Language Training, then 4 weeks of Product Training. Sched nila for Training ngayon is 12:30am to 9:30am.

Batch 1 (that's us!) is already in Production for a week sa Alabang Site. So far, okay ang calls. Madali lang, usually inquiries lang. Downside, minsan, queueing ang calls. Since day 1, bagsak agad ng madaming volume sa amin. Almost equal ng volume ng calls sa States.

Schedules start at 9:00PM to 6:00AM & last shift (as of this month) is at 12:30AM to 9:30AM. Magbabago pa ang shift namin once Batch 2 comes in this September. Looks like operations will also extend its hours. We go on a 2-week rotating schedule. Meaning, every other week iba ang off namin. 1 week, magkahiwalay ang off, the other week, 2 consecutive days off. Works well for me, pero I don't think agreeable ang iba.

nat4712001 is correct. Upon regularization ang benefits. Okay lang for me, kasi ngayon wala pa silang napipili na HMO. They're still studying the proposals given to them by the HMOs.

Nga pala, I have no idea about GenPact, for those who are asking. Only thing I know is that they are Out-Sourced by GE to do Collections. It is run by Indians, too. Okay lang, may isa kasi sa kanila na medyo hawig kay Brandon Routh. (hehehe!)

Based on your experience, may I ask how long did you have to wait for the job offer after the final interview.... For someone like me na medyo mahilig maglakad, walking from GE to Festival Mall after my interview was great... especially for reflecting how I did in the interview. I just learned that Diana Saguiped was offered by GE a job contract. May I suggest that 3i or John Clements do a little research first before referring people to companies. And to the GE management, let it be known that Ms Saguiped was terminated from HSBC because of a terrible attitude problem. If you want employees with an attitude, then she's your girl. Good luck. fyi, GE is a call canter and handling financial accts. if you want to stay long in any call center, it's the value and attitude that always count! you may have bad bosses but definitely they too shall go away! and if you're lucky, u might be next in line for a promotion. i have just started my stint with GE on 28 Oct 2006, Batch 5! They give good offers to people with or without call center experience. SELLING SKILLS is a PLUS! GENPACT is handling Collections for GE Money Bank US, while GE handles Customer Service. GENPACT is an Outsource, while GE is In-House.

Regarding Sick Leaves & Vacation Leaves... I have been in the Call Center Industry for over 3 Years & I have yet to find a Company that offers Paid VLs & SLs prior to Regularization. Probationary Employees, by law, only enjoy these benefits upon Confirmation/Regularization. Batch 1 is set to be Regularized by December.

I spoke with our HR Project Manager before she left for Canada & she told me that hiring Headhunters is actually more expensive than hiring direct. Common sense din naman na if you're a Foreign Company starting up a Business in a country you are not familiar with, you would hire people to help you start up the hiring process. Kasi they help you in making sure that the Contract you'll be giving out is in Compliance with Philippine Labor Laws. Headhunters also help "weed" out & select the most qualified candidates for the positions you offer.

Right now, most of our Higher Management are EXPATs. The only Filipinos in Non-Ops are the IT Manager, HR Manager & HR Associate. 1/2 of the Team Leaders are foreigners as well. Per the Business Leader, GE does internal hiring Actively. It's just that none of the CSRs are regularized yet, thus, not qualified for promotion. TLs & QAs that have been hired, already had experience for more than 6 months.

GE rewards people according to their merits. If they've been good performers, know their work well, & have good attendance records, they will be duly rewarded. Walang seniority-seniority. If you deserve to be promoted, you will be. If you deserve a raise, you will get it. If you perform well, you get incentives.

Basta ako, I think GE is going to be my LAST Call Center.

Yep, I heard na before they entertain your application, you need to show them first your resignation letter approved, plus the fact that they will also call hsbc to verify that you're no longer part of the company.

Who in the right mind would give up their current employment for something with no assurance. Im also really tempted to try GE because I heard in terms of compensation, they offer very very competetive remuneration. But im not resigning without a very GOOD contract in front of me.

salary....depende sa interviewer mo at sa call center experience...they can give as low as 13k...oo shempre ge employee rin ang hinarass daw....pero medyo touchy nga yung manager na yun depende na lang kung pano ite-take ng girls...pero sana lesson na rin dun sa manager na wag na masyadong touchy-touchy...meron din na-terninate...girl...haduken naman....mwahahahahaha!

okay naman sa GE basta wag lang pasaway yung ahente...pag kelangan ng medcert dahil sa absences, kailangan yung accredited clinic ng GE...tapos yung komisyon ng mga ahente...delayed ng 2 mos...hehehe...hmo upon reg....pero okay lang naman sa GE...ayos lang....ay at tsaka parang hsbc na rin sila...dati offer rate lang meron sa sales pero ngayon, bilanagn na ng benta, part ng metrics yung sales kaya kung medyo di ka magaling bumenta...excuse me....wag ka ng mangarap tumagal sa GE

ok po sa genpact. mababait mga tao dun. what i admire about the company is that they really care for their people. *** team manager ko, 1 of the nicest people I've ever known. Pati *** iba pang mga officers and staff, mababait din. About sa account, you just have to be good in playing with words. Magaling ka dapat mangbola para ma convince mo sila to arrange payments with you. Since collections yun, importante pa rin ang customer-centricity. Pag dating sa sweldo, depende pa rin sa qualifications and experiences mo. Pero over-all, masasabi kong okay talaga ang GENPACT.

lalaking bumbay po nag interview sa akin... :bashful: nga ***, they called me last wednesday sadly *** nasagot (due to emergency reasons). tinawagan ko naman din, then a lady said that i was supposed to be for interview next week, but since napuno na kasi *** nga nasasagot *** phone ko, i will be scheduled daw 1st week of august and they will call me again for the excat time and date.

i had an interview with the clients yesterday, ang sabi sa akin by september pa daw sila maghire for csr position. at this moment core group daw muna *** pino-process nila. you have to wait pa siguro or maybe you can just check jobstreet for announcements. :)

hi! goodluck sa interview mo, i had my interview yesterday dun sa genpact and goodnezz, pinag pawisan talaga ako. naubos *** binasa kong english words sa dictionary :rotflmao:

mabait naman *** clients na dalawang puti, pero mararamdaman mo *** interview talaga.

then after that sa indians naman, juice ko, ginamit ko ang aking super powers para maintindihan sila, pero bait sila.

last sa pinoy - no comment. :) (bahala kyo mag isip kung ano na experience ko hehe)...

after the interview, same process after my first interview, "genpact will keep in touch with you"... i'm not expecting it like nung una pa, pero if ever, sana maganda *** company benefits and other churvaness...
