sim a smartbro subscriber since december last year... no choice its the only provider in our area...
nightmare!
i also had lots of no/limited/erratic connections... it started in january til march... then i applied for rebate and guess what... they just considered 2 days rebate insted of an entire month!!! grabe sa sobrang asar ko pinareevaluate ko nga... still waiting for their response...
then last month when it started raining hard we lost the connection again... grrr...
then just this week...
sobrang asar na asar na ko... lagi na nga ako nagrereklamo at nagtataray sa mga csrs na sobrang bobobo... kainis talaga! i even ask them kung nagtraining ba sila kasi napaka walng kwenta nila...
its weird when they first answer your call they will just say their name and that's it... wlang opening spiel like "may i have your name ma'am" or "how may i help you?" para kong ***** n naghihintay ng opening spiel
oh wait... nagtatagalog nga pala sila...

globe speak and surf ako(CDMA).. 6 months na yung subscription ko..
maganda nung umpisa kaso simula nung june 20 which is when I filed a complaint na mabagal yung internet ko to no internet connection until now.. may problema pa rin daw.. yung cell site daw na kinukuhanan nung modem ko na nasa constancia(taga-sampaloc kasi ako), may problema daw na until this day, ginagawa pa daw.. nakailang tawag din ako sa tech nila pero walang pinagbago.. kailangan ko pang kausapin yung supervisor nila para maupdate ako kaso wala ring nangyari.. di pa daw kasi alam kung kelan matatapos yung restoration nung constancia site so binigyan nya lang ako ng 2 options: una, kung makakapaghintay ako, tiis-tiis daw muna at yung ikawala, iterminate ko na daw yung account ko.. kumusta naman yun..

If the residential service is anything like their business service, then it is more than OK. The downtime is very low (mostly affecting their email service), and the customer service response time is very quick.
I would love to have Eastern DSL in my house, but they don't serve my area, so I'm stuck with PLDT.

the customer rep of easter telecom dsl said that residential and business service is almost of the same quality since residential service uses the same fiber optic lines (to that effect) as their business services

what happened to me was, i was given a 1 month free when i subscribed last july 18. then nagbayad ako ng reservation(or advance) worth P500 which will be deducted on the second month of billing. so i'm expecting to receive a bill of P495 (aug-sept) for my first bill.
my first bill came. a whopping P1,500+. ang nangyari siningil yung 1st month ko then they charged me one month advance pa.
here are the issues:

Hi need your opinion lang.
Im currently a subscriber of Bayantel DSL 386Kpbs for around 2 years na.
Eh i learned that globelines and pldt could offer up tp 1Mpbs in the same price range that im paying my bayantel.
I wanna transfer sana. Now my question, kamusta ba ang service ng globe at ng pldt? Napuputol ba o maayos naman? With Bayantel naman kasi i'm ok with it, walang problema except that its only 386Kpbs. Laki ng difference nun sa 1Mpbs diba? Sayang naman.
Lastly, which is better, Globe or Pldt?
Any comments/suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance. :bashful:

Question lang sa globe wired broadband users:
globe broadband is offering phone + internet (mbps) for 1295. question
3. once connected via dlink wireless router, can i connect my 2 other computers in it?

for that price range, 384 kpbs pa rin ang offer nila, which sa globe and pldt 1mpbs na.

Based on experience and hearsay, maraming ayaw sa PLDT DSL because of their customer service. Your best bet is probably Globe (since a lot of people I know are okay with their service and masbago siya), but some argue that cabled internet is still better than wireless, so in that case get Destiny.
I have a friend who has both Destiny and SmartBro in their house. I think that's the only way to ensure you have Internet all the time because Destiny is down sometimes, SmartBro is down the other times.

Sabi ng Globelines, any business letters will do basta nakapangalan sa akin. Kaya naghahanap ako ng mga past letters na dumating for me. :)

http://www.globelines.com.ph/NewsArticle.php?id=37
Wired Globe Broadband Plan 1.0 Mbps Data and Voice
Plan 1.0 Mbps Data and Voice
PhP 1,295
1.0 Mbps
Wired Landline
installation is free. at libre ang modem nila unlike sa pldt's plan 1299.
meron rin sila nung plan 995, landline plus 384kbps connection.
http://www.globelines.com.ph/NewsArticle.php?id=36
bago ako lilipat from pldt to globe, gusto ko munang malaman kung maganda ang connection at service ng globe.

i'm also a destiny internet subscriber for almost 2 years now and i'm fully satisfied with the speed and customer service. theoretically, the maximum speed is 10 Mbps. but connection speed may vary depending on the number of users who are online. but guess what? i often enjoy speeds of more than that. right at this moment, the speed reads 100 Mbps! you pay 999 per month, but you initially pay P2000 for the modem which is consumable after 10 months. you don't have to subscribe to their cable TV service to avail of the internet service.

anyone have an idea what areas are serviced by eastern?
im subscribed to bayantel and if bayantel customer service is already considered good, then consumers are really screwed. my internet was disconnected for almost a whole week and a tech came three times but failed to resolve the problem. finally it turns out that the problem was with the physical connection at the lamp post, which was sort-of fixed by day 4.
however, it seems that bayantel refuses to reimburse me for the downtime (as they state on their website) because they claim that each time their techs came over, they fixed the problem and so the service ticket was closed within 24 hours. im contesting these closures since it would have been impossible for the connection to be restored if there was a problem with the line at the lamp post in the first place!
since they fixed that, my connection has been unstable with intermittent disconnections and times where the ping spikes.
of course, all these happened after the 15-day "trial" period.

The Worst: Globelines Vobb
-pardon The All-caps, I'm Mad As Hell
1. We Specifically Applied For The Landline Broadband Bundle. We Were Even Asking About The Caller Id And Call Waiting Features And If The Handset Had A Built In Caller Id Screen. The Agent Said Yeah Yeah Yeah. Lo And Behold - They Installed The Vobb. I Work At Night So I Sleep During The Day And Unfortunately They Installed It While I Was Sleeping And My Mom - She Is 65 So She Didn't Know What The Vobb Was.
2. To Make Matters Worse, The Thing Doesn't Work. 80% Of The Time The Phone Doesn't Have A Dial Tone.
3. I Applied For The Bundle Because We Are In Dire Need Of A Landline But The Broadband Of The Vobb Bundle Itself Is Worse Than Dial-up. It's Intermittent - Remember Getting A Call While Surfing While Forgetting To Turn Your Call Waiting Off? That How Intermittent It Was. My Mother Tried Using The Phone While I Was Surfing - And Guess What, Hehe, I Would Stop Receiving Data. And For The Love Of God, You Can't Download Torrents While Surfing! It's Ridiculous! I Can't Even Access Gmail And Download A Torrent. That's Gmail. I Have To Stop The Download If I Want To Access A Site.
It Was Downright Deceitful. And The Product Sucks For Lack Of A Better Word. It's So Disappointing Because I've Been A Globe Handyphone Subscriber For 5 Years And I've Been So Satisfied With Their Postpaid Service I'm Never Going Back To Prepaid Even With The Unlimited What Nots. If You Think Smart Bro Sucks You Haven't Met The Globe Vobb.
As For The Much Maligned Smart Bro With Whom I've Been Subscribed To For 5 Mos - Mercifully It Is Actually Pretty Good In My Area. My Connection Has Always Been A Decent 300+. I Can Download Torrents, Surf And Watch Youtube All At Once. It's A Far Cry From Globelines Vobb Hell (which Some Of Their Agents Maliciously Sell As Regular Landline W/ Broadband) - If You're Thinking About Getting This, Stick W/ Dial-up.

SmartBro is a  (Well, it depends, location based kasi tong loko na to)
Also, to think, Smart has the lowest Plan (is it?) in terms of Internet connection. P999 for a 384kbps (512kbps in selected areas) connection, supposedly, pero hindi nila naibibigay sa mga subscribers nila. (At least the satisfying 'mark' which I guess 250 and above)
I'm not against Smart or whatever, I'm just basing on my personal experience, together with my SmartBroken clan...
Just a few reminders. ;)
P.S
>Upon installing the Smart Canopy, make sure that there is a clear LOS (Line of Sight) between your house and their base station. Importante yun. :bop:
And also, don't believe their tech team when they tell you, komo malapit sa base station means mabilis ang connection. Hell, NO. Kahit katabi mo base station nila, kung bulok, Bulok talaga. *peace*

i subscribed to bayantel on good feedback from forums (such as this thread), but really it's hit or miss and so far it's a miss for me.
My connection has been down or been unstable for the past three weeks. I've spoken to all three supervisors at their tech support department, their tech has come to my house about twelve times already, but still my connection wasn't like how it was before.
Thinking of moving somewhere else, and no way in hell am I paying their pre-termination fee. Maybe I'll give back their modem in a trash bag with garbage in it. Or maybe I'll just go to their head office and burn their modem in the lobby.

Bayantel isn't like what it used to be. I was one of the happy customers and I also recommended them to all my friends. Since the August 21 incident my connection has been at its worst. Nightmare ang magdownload at 35kbps for over a month. I hate to say this but Bayantel is becoming like PLDT. I am planning to switch too. Currently naka PLDT MY DSL Plan 999 @ 700 something kbps ako. Paano magiging 1mbps yung connection ko? After the 1 year contract ba magiging 1 mbps na rin yung akin?

Amin din. Mapili din sa location yang Globe. Nagpakabit kami nung Feb 07 tpos day 1 palang bulok agad yung connection. After 2 weeks of hardships with Globe (as in walang internet) na may kasama ng technical assistance, pinaterminate na namin.

I've just subscribe to smart bro (last week) and so far... I'm dissapointed to the speed I'm getting. Yes I got 384kbps DL speed during 10pm - 10am (off-peak) but during peak hours.... the speed is way slower than my dial-up connection!
Sample speed: (Oct. 3, 2007)
http://www.speedtest.net/result/189567508.png (http://www.speedtest.net)
I already called smart bro support center once... and the reason they gave me is that our connection is slower bec. a lot of users are accessing their service area.... (congested)
I don't know when will I call again but if I got these results everyday...
My friend already responded that eastern evo dsl is available in our area (sta cruz). I'm planning to get the 1.5K 1Mbps + landline plan. Hopefully it won't be the same as my experience with smart bro. I might just use smart bro as an alternate.
BTW is it possible to combine 2 connections into 1 pc by using a router? (smart bro + eastern dsl) so that I won't waste my 999 every month (11.5 months left) :(

I am getting sick and tired for calling the technical support kase ang binibigay lang saken, will follow up with support (solo ko na nga mga sasabihin nila eh)
4x visit technician, meron na ding 4x nagschedule sila na di sumipot.
Nagpunta nako Oct 12 sa globelines center, sinigurado nile na the 13th or 14th may pupunta, maghapon ako nag antay, walang dumating.
the last schedule na binigay nila saken last tuesday (tumawag pako nung umaga nun sa headquarters nila to confirm at sabi nakasagot siguradong may pupunta), di ako pumasok at maghapon ako nag intay pero walang dumating, badtrip.
Sept 1 with almost everyday calling their tech support, Oct 18 na ngayon wala pa ren, every time i call iniiwan ko number ko requesting them to please call me for updates, pero walang tawag.
lam ko mga contractors lang yung gumagawa ng work nila. pero kanino ko pa ba dapat i forward yung ka walang kwentang trabho nung mga technicians nila?
Already thinking cancelling my account this weekend. such a lousy support. grabe.

TREX OKIARU .. that's terrible.. really.. the reason why i am replying is because i have a friend who lives in bf homes tell me the same thing.. and i didnt believe it.. he said that globe told him that he had to install it himself.. can you believe that!!
it is true they hire contractors because they never know how much volume they will get ..(even though they probably have orders for the next year!!) and also for them to save money..
the best thing for you to do is keep asking for who is the account manager for your area or when you applied. try to get the account managers email and explain all that you said here. then ask him Who the contractors are and if he can kindly give you their cell number. than call them up and ask when the next time they will be in bf.
good luck..!!
post me how it goes.. am curious..
GOOD LUCK!!

I terminated the account last weekend. Waiting since sept 1, calling almost everyday, going to the globeline center for followup, and being stood up on scheduled visits (with me not going to work just to wait for them). I think it was too much already.
No questions asked naman, and they assured me I am not gonna be paying for anything.

now smartbro 999 38*kbps

you can definitely do that, have the tech place the dsl modem near where your phone jack is and connect an ethernet cable from the modem then run the cable to the computer in your room. this may involve some planning and preparation though, but it works, its the set up i have at home and everything is working fine. *okay*

download tcp optimizer and optimize your download speeds
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
it's very simple.
1) at the General Tab, select the "connection speed" appropriate for your connection (try 1024 kbps)
2) at the network adapter section, pick the appropriate adapter
3) then select the "optimal setting" button below, automatic na yung program mag co-configure ng appropriate speeds para sa connection mo. then click "apply changes". then press OK.
voila. reset cpu.

1) globe wired broadband - parati puno boxes
2) pldt mydsl - super intermittent daw, ang bagal at di nabibigay ang promised speed
3) globe wireless - eto nga, parang dial-up din daw.

i was thinking of getting a digitel dsl line. may inooffer sila na 999 pesos = 512 kbps to existing landline users. ok naman kaya ito?

Salamat at may ganitong thread. I've been meaning to get DSL for my place (I live in Santolan, near Marikina). PLDT is the first option, though sa feedback na nakikita ko, medyo hesitant ako :p Not sure if Bayantel's available in the area, pero Globe ata nag start na. Mukhang OK yung Destiny.
Amp... walang company loyalty hahaha!

teka, as far as i know walang globe (wired) sa caloocan, wireless lang ang alam ko (option ko rin before aside from PLDT and Eastern). mas ok are wired kaysa sa wireless imo.

There are a lot of things you can't do with a smart bro service. It's routing system doesnt allow you to setup a web server and many hosting applications. That means your service is only good for surfing, downloading, etc..., BTW...why do you need an internet connection?

st. anger, had the crappy vobb bundle - i so hated it, the connection was intermittent so what was the use of a 512kbps speed if it couldn't stay connected for more than 5-10mins. worse, the phone was nothing but paper weight so i fought innove tooth and nail to have the d@mn thing removed. thank god there is a god - my connection was terminated w/o any fees and they have retrieved the modem/unit so i'm innove-free! weeh! because of the whole thing once my lock-in period with globe (been a post-paid subscriber since 2003, have a lock-in bec i availed of a promo) expires i'm terminating my subscription and switching to smart.

myDSL is crazy. Just completely.desperately.hopelessly.f*&^ing.crazy. I am very frustrated. Until now, di pa daw restored *** sa area namin. I have been calling them everyday for the past 2 weeks, puro "sorry". kakahighblood. Though I was told I will get rebates once the problem is fixed, I feel that they have falsely advertised about their fast and reliable service. :grrr: Rebates isnt enough, not even a free termination can be enough if they offered it.

Thanks.
SkyDSL is doing pretty well at the moment, here's my log of 2 days of straight downloading:
http://web.tri-isys.com/pinoyexchange/les/totals.png
The totals would have been higher had I been able to saturate the bandwidth using torrents. Due to lack of hard disk space I wasn't able to run enough torrents to fully utilize the bandwidth, but the totals per 24h are still pretty good (1.2 Mbps, 1.5 Mbps from 10pm-10am).

Mas malala ang pldt last last friday ko pa nireport, lagpas 1 week na ang palaging sinasabi lang sa akin, nasa it department na daw nila, pinaprocess na.
Ang masakit pa nito uprade lang from legacy to thier newer IPDSLAM equipment.
Plan 1995 pa naman ako ever since nag-subscribe ako.

.
after much persistence, naayos na yung broadband ko. It took them 2 weeks and a threat from me namagdidsconnect na ako ng service and I won't pay the remaining balance since I am not getting the service that I signed up for. Kelangan lang pala i-reset yung modem. Hard reset that is. I wonder kung bakit hindi sinabi to ng "tech support" ng globe :hmm:

st. anger, had the crappy vobb bundle - i so hated it, the connection was intermittent so what was the use of a 512kbps speed if it couldn't stay connected for more than 5-10mins. worse, the phone was nothing but paper weight so i fought innove tooth and nail to have the d@mn thing removed. thank god there is a god - my connection was terminated w/o any fees and they have retrieved the modem/unit so i'm innove-free! weeh! because of the whole thing once my lock-in period with globe (been a post-paid subscriber since 2003, have a lock-in bec i availed of a promo) expires i'm terminating my subscription and switching to smart.
FallenPixie, also subscribed to Globe speak n surf wireless bundle last June. crappy phone, crappy service. wireless phone had poor signal inside structures, difficulty receiving incoming calls, bad earpiece volume, no backlighting on screen. internet service was intermittent. on top of that, poor customer service - they have not managed to reflect my initial payment even until now so i haven't paid them a centavo. emailed CSR but deleted without reading. They're now trying to recover my unit - does that automatically mean no fees? if not, please let me know how you convinced them not to charge you. TYIA!
