Here are some reviews of the Best and Worst ISPs in the country.
*some info may not be 100% accurate
**The following feedbacks are opinions based on read facts
1.PLDT DSL My Review Grade: 60%
Installation fee: 500Pesos
Plan Packages:
999Php @ 384KBPS
1995Php @ 768KBPS
3000Php @ 2MBPS
5000Php @ 5MBPS
Pros:
- The DSL Pioneer in the Philippines. Has always been the first to come up with new technology with DSL.
- Can be reliable if you subscribe for the the very high priced business plans as they usually prioritize huge clients.
- Most ISPs connect through the PLDT internet backbone.
- Has some satisified subscribers
Cons:
- The worst customer service in the nation. They have the widest number of customers but they wont ramp up on the number of tech support representatives. Calling their hotline takes a minimum of 1 hour and can take more waiting time. In most cases they dont solve the issue on 1st contact.
- Home service request can take weeks and in most cases you have to follow-up with many 1-hour-wait calls.
- The number of UNSATISIFIED customer greatly outnumbers satisfied cusomters in terms of service.
- The speed has been capped at 55% slower of the subscribed speed for hundreds of customers the last 2 months..w/o giving customers any form of public advisories and any automatic rebates.
- Random disconnections and un-announced downtimes.
- You will have to go to thier office if wish to apply ( Has a long wait line)
- The company keeps on accepting new subscribers even though most technicians admit that they dont have the capacity anymore w/c results to downgraded performance for most older customers.
- The 3000 Termination fee will make your regrets very painful and for some gets them stuck with crappy service for a year.
2. GLOBE DSL My Grade: 85%
Installation fee: 2000Php
P 995 384 kbps (for GENTxT Members)*GenTxt membership is 50php
P 1495 384 kbps
P 1995 768 kbps
P 2995 2 MB
Pros:
- Some can tweak the speed of the bandwidth to make it faster.
- Has better customer service than PLDT.
- More stable connection compared to PLDT.
- More number of Satisified customers compared to unsatisified customers.
Cons:
- Expensive installation fee.
- Sometimes speed can go bad.
- although customer service is reachable some agents are not very technically proficient.
3. SKY DSL My Grade: 90%
Installation Fee:
Pay P1,999.00 for non-BayanTel landline subscriber
Pay P499.00 for existing BayanTel landline subscriber
Plan Packages:
P 899 256 kbps (Becomes 512 KBPS at 10PM-10AM)
P 1699 512 kbps (Becomes 768 KBPS at 10PM-10AM)
P 2699 1.5 Mbps (Becomes 2 MBPS at 10PM-10AM)
**All plans come with free WiFi access to SKYDSL wifi hotspots around the nation. Promo till July 26, 2006
Pros:
- Speed on demand promo increases the speed on off-peak hours.
- Money back guarantee for every 24 hour that you lose your connection you get a 500 rebate automatically off your bill. Which means that if they dont get your connection back in a span of 2 days, you basically get free month bill.
- Stable connection with occasional but advised maintenance downtimes.
- Better tech support than PLDT and GLobe.
Cons:
- Some downtimes can reach several hours but this is very rare
- Installation fee will cost a lot since they have to phoneline for DSL.
- No services yet in the makati area and some areas.
- Has a termination fee
4. ZPDEE CABLE My Grade: 95% (AUTHORS CHOICE) "Although im still stuck with PLDT"
Installation Fee: 1000 PHp
free 1 MONTH (so its almost like Free installation since your 1st month is free)
Plan Packages:
P 690 64 KBPS
P 890 128 KBPS
P 999 384 KBPS
P 1999 768 KBPS
P 2999 1 MBPS
15% discount on your monthly Skycable Gold/SkyCable Silver bill
2 Free additional IP addresses
Pros:
- Very reliable connection (not 100% but its the most reliable in the nation)
- The house service request is so fast that sometimes they arrive on the same day or right the next day. (kala mo excited daw un mga repairman)
- 15% DISCOUNT on your SKYCABLE GOLD bill!!!!!!!!!!!!
- 1 Month Free so basically its like no installation fee at all.
- No costly termination fee so feel free to try it w/o risks and worry.
- Cable Means speed can reach higher speeds during off peak hours.
Cons:
- Cable means speed can be a tad slower than expected on heavy peak hours. but still very considerable.
5. MY DESTINY CABLE My Grade: 90%
Installation Fee: Php 2000+ Deposit which is reclaimable after 1 year *yata
Plan: P999 @ 512Kbps
Pros:
- The cheapest plan found on a 512kbps plan.
- You can text their customer service hotline.
- Most users average 700KBPS and reach 1 mbps on a plan 999
- Recently bought by Samsung (not sure) so better management now.
- Wont disconnect your servce up to 2-3 months if havent paid the bill yet.
Cons:
- The 2500 Deposit for 8 months w/c is reclaimable after 8 months.
- speed can go slow but no for long.
- A little bit less reliable compared to its competitor ZPDEE.
- Tech support can sometimes be hard to reach but not always.
6. SMART BRO (wifi) My Grade: 60%
PHP999.00/month 384kbp
installation fee of P1,000.00
Pros:
- Can provide service on hard to reach areas.
- some subscribers are satisified.
Cons:
-Thousands of customers are ranting and regretting they had SMART Bro installed.
- Usually Slower speeds than advertised.
- New technology which means it hasnt been polished yet. Still a lot of flaws.
- Reachable customer service but not dependable.
- If you dont like PLDT, then this is basically the same internet backbone.

Wow! Thanks for that review... though I'm stucked with PLDT for another year, that will surely help out those who are planning to get broadband.
Sadly, most of them have limited service areas though so there's not much choice for others.

Wow, ang mahal ng ISP sa pinas! I'm in a special offer for 2-3 years na sa Comcast cable. 8.0Mbps down/384Kbps up. I only pay $19.99. After the promotional period balik $60 bucks. However, meron competition comcast sa city ko kaya lagi kong tinatakot sila na aalis ako if hindi nila ako bibigyan ng discount. Hahaha. So they always ending up giving me a 1 year promotional price for $19.99. Hahaha. Mautak ito! Hehehe

I concur. A very well summarized ISP rundown.
Too bad though, now almost everyone will jump boat to SKY DSL now.
The trend in the Philippines kasi... dati Destiny ang number 1... then oversubscribed di nahahandle... then PLDT came, PLDT naman ang oversubscribed, what's next SKY. Hence, I always go for the "unknowns" yet existing.

SkyDSL is good. I don't really find it "fast". The Speed-On-Demand (SOD) IMO is not really working, I don't see any significant increase in performance from 12 MN - 10am. However, it is consistent, haven't experienced downtimes, and reliable.

behold PLDT, after a year mawawalan na naman kayo ng isang customer.

@blindy
Yeah true after a year maraming mawawalang mga customer. Per the things is forecasted na ng PLDT yun before the end of the year.
Pansinin mo bago matapos un 2005 nag beef-up sila ng advertising tapos free installation pa.
Tapos ngayong may may bayad na ulet installation. Maraming mawawala after one year, pero doble namana ang mga new customers ng PLDT dahil ang lakas nila mang loko sa mga TV, newspaper at events ads. Malufet sila sa marketing, bano sila sa service. hehehe

PLDT DSL - okay naman sya.
My Destiny - SUCKS!!! Customer Support is BAD !!!! inabot ng months bago nila nagawa at ang hirap hirap silang tawagan!!!! mapupudpod na ang daliri mo eh di mo pa sila macontact. nagpdisconnect kami sa buwisit. nagpafaX sila letter to disconnect and kinuha nila ang modem ng ganun kabilis. kung gaano kabagal ang customer service eh ganun namn sila kabilis magdisconnect.

Like i said. There are some satisfied PLDT subscribers. I guess it really depends on your own perception of speed and quality service.
but the fact remains that the number of unsatisified PLDT subscribers greatly outnumbers the number of satisified customers.
Have u checked your PLDT speed on www.pldtplay.com on Resources section "bandwidth Test" you should be getting at least 75% of your subscirbed speed plan or else your affected by PLDTs current 50% speed slowdown.
Opposite goes for Destiny majority are satisifed oh and by the way SAMSUNG just bought Destiny they reportedly has better management now. In fact you cant text customer requests on hotline.
I miss destiny. I was with Destiny before and i used to average 700KBPS and sometimes reach 1MBPS.
With PLDT i average 170KBPS on a 384KBPS plan, thats 40+% only of the speed i should be getting
PLDTs EMAIL support keeps on bouncing my letters back and theirs no way u can reach their tech support in less than 1 hour in most cases more.

Thanks for the nice reactions..though im sure meron pa rin kokontra.. hehe
yes my kokontra talaga... area dependancy, my mga lugar na maganda ang connection kahit anong ISP mo.
in my area for example, at sa bahay ko mismo, dalawa ang ISPs kong nakaconnect... kung mag rereview ako tulad mo, I give Globe 100%... download to the MAX (FTP,NTTP,toxxent, http), very very sweet... this year no downtime experience kahit nung bumagyo, very stable, fast connection, sulit ang bayad. and yes, the customer services are unbeatable.
bayantel and PLDT: 50%
Zpdee cable: 90% (very good for uploading)
Mydestiny: 85% (good bandwidth they give me 5mbps last yr, dont know why, but their customer services isnt so good).
Belltel icable: i can give them 93% if they gain more experience, i like there customer services because they are honest  (very long story, hi cindy:D bakit iisa lang sumasagot sa online services nyo ha? maganda pa naman connection binibigay nyo, at saka sino ba *** sumagot na "wala syang alam tungkol sa 'Billing Statement'? nagpapatawa ***** un " well, ok lang un at least shes honest hindi naman tulad ng skydsl/PLDT na na memorize ko na *** linya na sinasabi nila always like "unplug the cable of ur modem! so and so! etc." ginagawa nilang ***** *** ibang subscriber nila)

I use PLDT myDSL at work and SkyDSL at home, both with PLDT phone line. I experience frequent disconnections and downtime lasting more than 48 hours with PLDT myDSL. The inconvenience is due to software upgrade, that's what they always say. Still, their service is unreliable and very irritating! Stay away from PLDT myDSL... :grrr:

I have Smart Bro aka Smart Wifi in my small shop here in the province. I have no choice, it's the most practical way to be connected to the internet. So far, ok naman! Initially, there were problems but lately, ok na! Kung minsan nawawalan sa bandang gabi na pero just for a few minutes lang. Sometimes the outage is due to my router. I just reset my router and there it goes back again. Wala namang lag sa mga online games. Internet access is good.

here's my story with Smart Bro (this happened awhile ago)..
problem : Limited or No Connection
solution:
called Smart Bro's hotline .. CSR (girl) that i've talked to seemed reluctant to help me (and parang wala din sya sa mood) .. still she told me to ..
1) go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all", "ipconfig /release", "ipconfig /renew" >> problem wasn't solved
2) go to control panel>>network connection>>properties>>general tab>tcp/ip properties .. she wanted to check kung naka-obtain automatically yung ip and dns thingie
3) go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all", "ipconfig /release", "ipconfig /renew" >> problem wasn't solved again
4) restart the modem, restart the PC .. and go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all", "ipconfig /release", "ipconfig /renew" >> still the same result (this is the 3rd time we did this)
5) go to control panel>>network connections then right-click Local Area Connection to disable/enable it .. >> still the same result
6) go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all", "ipconfig /release", "ipconfig /renew" >> problem wasn't solved again (how many times do we have to do this?)
7) unplug the cable from the NIC and plug it in after a few seconds >> still no connection
8) go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all", "ipconfig /release", "ipconfig /renew" >> problem wasn't solved again (hmm...)
then she told me that she'll coordinate with the upper level .. of course i'm assuming that she'll put me the call on hold to talk to the upper level or her supervisor .. but she didn't .. i could hear other voices from the background and sa line ko sa kanya, dead-air lang .. parang pinalipas lang nya 10-15 mins tapos saka lang ako binalikad .. hay .. ang labo .. that's way i really hate talking the Smart Bro's CSR .. alang kwenta kausap .. nasayang lang yung 45 mins ko ..

:grrr: PLDT: Horribe ISP
Unbelievably irrational customer support!
Connection speeds nowhere near what they advertise!
They keep on getting new subscribers even if they lack the capacity to deliver good service to all the customers!
Will make you go through hoops and make it appear that it's your fault that the internet connection is faulty, then will eventually tell you it's really their system's fault to begin with . GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!:grrr:

Mad props to Spursdynasty for the broadband provider review. I'm still choosing what service to subscribe to, pero your review really made it easier to narrow down the choices. I definitely won't go the PLDT route.
Oh, and I called up ZPDee and they said you can't avail of their services if you are not a SKY/Home cable subscriber. That totally sucks! Start of the year daw ata nila ginawang rule yun.
Thanks, again, for the review Bro!

Wala y dont u get sky cable nlng? 15% discounted pa compared sa cable nyo.
nways anong area ka ba? when ur in QC go for SKY DSL otherwise try Destiny. The stabiliy wont be as stable as ZPDEE but ul enjoy the speed as Destiny speed is variable it could go as low as 150Kbps at some point but ul average at 400-700KBPS and more often than not reach 1mbps speeds.
masarap speeds nila!

From The Philippine Star, June 5, 2006 issue
PLDT Broadband subscriber base seen to double this yr
Telecommunications giant Philippines Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) projects its broadband subscriber base to double this year as both digital subscriber line (DSL) and wireless broadband coverage rapidly expand...
...DSL (fixed broadband) and wireless broadband subscribers increased by over 25,000 in the first quarter of 2006 to about 140,000 as of the end of March this year. Of the 140,000, about 101,000 are fixed DSL while 39,000 are wireless (Smart Bro). During the first quarter of 2005, broadband subscribers only totalled 57,000, all fixed. As of end-April, the number of subscribers has increased to 170,000, of which 130,000 are DSL and 40,000 are wireless.
...PLDT itself has 420,000 dial-up Internet subscribers under Vibe.
....Smart's wireless broadband service was reintroduced in April 2006 as Smart Bro, an improved service over its earlier Smart Wi-Fi offering. Smart now has over 2,000 wireless broadband-enabled base stations providing high-speed Internet access to 386 cities and municipalities all over the country.
The big question: Does PLDT expand it's tech support and bandwidth capacity to meet the rapidly-expanding user base? I think everybody already knows the answer.

Ganito rin naman sa MyDestiny. Though they don't call it "modem rental"; "deposit" ang tawag. Makukuha yung P2K after nung lock-in period.

"Results are dependent upon many factors besides just your internet connection, the speed of your computer, software misconfigurations and available bandwidth between any two points of the test can severely change results."
so yung speed ng PC has something to do with the speed of your internet connection?

:bluefish:
1000 installation fee (or the one month advanced payment)
2000 modem rental (which you can get back if you wish to stop the service)
so 1000 + 2000 = 3000 all in all
999pesos @ 384kbps yung amin dito sa blue ridge... nag-inquire lang kami through the phone, and after 2 days, naka-kabit na. so far mabilis naman siya :D you will need a lan card for the cable internet. mine costs 500pesos.
as far as i know walang lock-in period. if you wish to stop the service, you just tell them, return the modem, and they give back your 2000 pesos.
you have to be a sky cable subscriber. one benefit is that 15% will be deducted from your sky cable bill. check the website to see if you can apply for cable internet.

im here again people!
pldt mydsl sucks big time talaga!
i wish we have zpdee here in our area na, ive called their csr and wala pa nga raw, you need to be subscribed to their cable tv pa, well yun nga lang costly sila, sa insatallation kasama pa 2K na rental sa modem, unlike sa pldt nakuha ko free sa installation nung promo nila sa 999....
pero look at me naman, up until now, their service is really substandard! Not to mention the irritating lemme say D*** csr's and their team leaders and supervisors........
nagka high blood na ko sa pldt mydsl...... sobrang ewan: SLOWDOWNS/DOWNTIMES, DISCONNECTION PROBLEMS AND NO CONNECTION AT ALL!
maiirita ka talaga!

Nakakahinayang yung ZPDee, I called just a few minutes ago and they do require a Sky Cable TV subscription. Now I'm deliberating whether P1.5k monthly is worth a substandard cable TV service and 384kbps cable internet speed :|

now, more surprisingly, maganda naman *** reviews nyo about destiny cable, but seeing as I have been a subscriber of Bayansky Dsl for 3 years (very satisfied - 24 hrs guarantee anyone? ;) ) mejo mataas standards ko.
i have several questions about destiny cable.
1. ano *** modem na gamit nila? am I allowed to network it to my 2 pcs? (i have a router and all that - my dsl right now is powering a home network)
2. is their cable internet static or dynamic IP?

Hello! im a satisfied mydestiny subscriber for 1 yr na so ill answer your queries. :)
1. ano *** modem na gamit nila? am I allowed to network it to my 2 pcs? (i have a router and all that - my dsl right now is powering a home network)
they gave me a motorola surfboard sb5101 and yes, its compatible with a router. im using a linksys router and it works fine.
2. is their cable internet static or dynamic IP? we are assigned a static ip
3. what are their download/upload speeds? we are guaranteed a min of 512 kbps of download and 128 kbps of upload. in my case, my average speed is 1mbps in the morning and in the afternoon while in the midnight it can reach up to 4mbps.:)
4. and do they have a 24 hr customer service too? (i work the graveyard shift so this is also very important to me) yes they do have a 24hr cu service and you have to send an sms first then they will contact you. the disadvantage is you have to wait 10 mins-3 hrs for their call.

1. ano *** modem na gamit nila? am I allowed to network it to my 2 pcs? (i have a router and all that - my dsl right now is powering a home network)
2. is their cable internet static or dynamic IP?
marienella_m has answered both these questions .. :)
3. what are their download/upload speeds?
in my case, the CSR told me that we are guaranteed a minimum of 256kbps and a maximum of 512kbps downloadspeed (as what marienella_m said, download speed could actually reach as high as 1mbps) .. as for the upload speed, it's the same with that of the minimum speed ..
my download speed is usually around 100+kB/s (sometimes, higher), the same also goes with my upload speed .. but in IRC, upload sucks .. hehehe ..
4. and do they have a 24 hr customer service too? (i work the graveyard shift so this is also very important to me)
yup yup .. if you can't get thru with their hotline, send them an SMS message and they'll call you after 20mins .. rarely do they call you a hour or so after you've send them an SMS message .. :)

As in hindi pa rin gumagana. So bukas darating ulit sila, this time maaga na para in case na matagalan sila marami pa silang time. Kasi 5PM namin sila pinaparating.
Kasi daw kami ang first customer sa area na ito kaya parang, you know, "binuhay" muna nila yung mga lines... or basta, something along those lines...

I'm requesting for my PLDT DSL connection to be terminated ASAP. I'm still bound by the lock in period by I have told them that I am not paying for the pretermination fee. Pwede daw yun according to the customer service rep that I have spoken with.
I'm planning to switch to SkyDSL. The connection would still of course go through my PLDT landline. I think Bayantel calls this a standalone connection. Anyone here with the same setup? How's the connection?

"Results are dependent upon many factors besides just your internet connection, the speed of your computer, software misconfigurations and available bandwidth between any two points of the test can severely change results."
so yung speed ng PC has something to do with the speed of your internet connection?
testing internet connection speed is affected by:
1.) the distance of your home to the speed test server= speedtests on servers based in the Philippines will yield a better speed result versus servers based in the US for example.
2.) P2P software= if you have limewire and/or are uploading/ downloading stuff while you're running the speedtest results will not be accurate since your using your bandwidth to do two separate tasks.
3.) for DSL subscribers= if you hear line noise when you use the phone that can also affect the quality of your connection
4.) for wireless connection= if you do the test over a wireless connection it may be slower than if you run the test hard wired to your modem. using routers/ hubs/ switches also affect the accuracy of your speed.

im about to have SkyDSL this week na standalone, and i think im the only SkyDSL subscriber sa barangay namin. so we'll see if i will experience problems whatsoever, ill let u know :)
-----------
sa mga wala pang dsl subscription, the only options you have now on a great deal are SkyDSL and Globelines.
SkyDSL charges P899 at 256kbps during daytime, while 512kbps during night time [10PM-10AM]. di karamihan ang subscribers kaya expect a reliable connection.
Globelines charges P995 at 512 kbps 24/7 [they recently upgraded their P995 plan from 384kbps to 512kbps], lucky for you if your area is serviceable and that there are boxes/ports available for your line. otherwise, you'll have to wait until your area becomes serviceable.
sabay ako nagapply sa SkyDSL at Globelines, so far, SkyDSL ang mas nauna, so they got my subscription. but if your area is serviceable for Globelines, choose Globelines, they got the best offer to date. otherwise, choose SkyDSL.
as for Destiny, i really dunno. pero we terminated their cable services dahil madalas natatap ang cable nila dito sa barangay namin kaya lumalabo signal. di ba pag walang signal ang cable apektado rin ang internet? although sa area lang naman namin nangyari to, i chose not to avail of mydestiny. but if your area is peaceful naman or civil, you can avail of this i guess.
lastly, dont ever choose PLDT MyDSL. ang bagal minsan, minsan wala pang connection. i tried it a lot of times while doing group project sa friend kong taga taft. as for Smart Bro, i have a friend from SFDM QC na 2 months walang connection, tapos ang indemnity lang ng Smart Bro ay 50% off for two months sa bill. bwisit di ba?

TravelBug im no techie guy, but i think the problem with PLDT is that it accepts what it can actually accommodate. although if gugustuhin nito, pede naman talaga nito ayusin services nito, if they really wish to be extra serious.
2nd thing, remember when the PLDT landline was a monopoly? aabutin ng ilang taon bago ka magkatelepono o buwan bago maayos ang sirang telepono mo? [ngayon 1 month na lang, haha]? ganyan yang PLDT kasi di pa threatened ng competition. but when Globelines, Bayantel, Digitel came into picture, aba umayos ang PLDT kahit paano. especially when Globelines arrived, PLDT even repackaged its new landline subscription offerrings, for P1500 ata e halos lahat ng landline feature available eh meron sila. too bad that they only improved so much in the way they handle and fix complaints.
unfortunately, PLDT doesn't seem to realize the presence of threat in the DSL industry. di pa ata natatauhan ang PLDT sa presence ng Globelines, SkyDSL, and other DSL providers. it seems that with PLDT MyDSL and SmartBro, they still dominate the market. pero once na bigyan yang PLDT MyDSL/Smart Bro ng mga competitors ng matinding threat, tingnan ko lang kung di sila magtanda.
actually, in the entire telecom industry, regardless of what particular service, medyo malaki ulo ng PLDT since it is the industry leader, not to mention the leader in the equity industry. in short, more profit oriented than real service oriented.
TravelBug
Aug 27, 2006, 06:29 AM
They dominate the market dahil marami naman talaga ang PLDT landline subscribers (produkto ng dating monopoly) so naturally these subscribers, myself included would initially choose to avail of the DSL services from the same company. After we signed up, doon lang namin nalaman ang sobrang kapalpakan ng PLDT. Kaso, we are already bound by the contract. In my case, may lock in period ako ng 2 years.
Dadating tomorrow ang representative ng Globe. Paiyakan na ito pero I'll force PLDT to cut my line including my landline kahit under contract pa ako sa DSL. I pay my dues on time, and in full but PLDT cannot deliver their part of the agreement. Therefore the contract does not exist. They can press charges all they want, I'm gonna fight.

TravelBug taga saan ka ba? buti ka pa mapupuntahan agad ng Globe, i really hoped to have Globelines Broadband kaso puno daw ang boxes sa area namin, at di pa nila naeencode application ko [mga 2 weeks na]. kaya nauna sakin SkyDSL.
anyhow, pede mo namang ilaban yan. after all, if ever magpepress man ng charges ang pldt sayo, di na rin nila gaano mahaharap yan. haha. that's how silly they are. kaso ang problem lang, hanggat di nafifinalize ang termination mo, ongoing ang billing mo. but you have the right, fight over it.
nga pala, since u will be applying for a landline sa Globelines, maswerte ka. why? may promo ngayon ang Globelines na if you apply for a P995 512kbps broadband, you may choose to accept their free one-year landline. however, the free landline has a two year lock-in period, so it means that for the first year, ang babayaran mo lang ay yung broadband internet, but come 13th month, magbabayad ka na monthly for your landline, regardless if itutuloy mo ang broadband mo o hindi after one year.
if only hindi two-years lock-in period nung free landline [as in free talaga ang landline], i would definitely avail of Globelines broadband at magaantay ako until maging serviceable area namin kahit pa maging 2 landline namin sa bahay, kaso hindi e. haha.

bluethehero, I'm from Ortigas. I live very near Globe's head office at Pioneer St. Actually they offered that plan, the one with the free landline for one year that's why I thought of having my PLDT landline disconnected immediately as well. Right now I'm paying 3k a month for PLDT's crappy service. I think you understand kung bakit ako nagngingitngit sa galit.
Let this serve as a warning to all those planning to get DSL services from PLDT. Huwag kayo magtapon ng pera. Choose another provider.

In our line of work in the office, we are given the benefit to have a DSL connection at home. This makes most of us share our own DSL subscription feedbacks. Most of us use PLDT since it is the one readily available. But PLDT DSL service really needs to get NTC attention.
First, they have the poorest Customer Service I have ever encountered. You're very lucky if you get an answer within 15 minutes. The average time we usually get through is 45 minutes.
Second, the people who would answer the phone are not the technical people. They are just operators who try to ask scripted questions which usually ends up with 'we'll forward this to our technical people'.
Third, they will tell you that someone would contact you but never did i get a return call.
Fourth, they do not have a system of tracking the calls. They do not have a ticket number nor a reference number to which you could track your report. There was an instance when I called back, they said that the did not receive any call from me. So I really got disappointed coz I dont have any receipt/report number that I could refer to.
Fifth, if the ISP is down, customers are entitled to rebates. The longest time I had my ISP down was last summer. 1 week of no internet connection. When I saw the bill, I asked why didn't I get any rebates. They told me, I needed to call 171 and tell them that I am entitled for a rebate due to an incident. WTF?!? I was the one already aggravated, then I still should be the one applying for my own rebate?! So if you forgot to file that you had your connection down for so days, or worse, if the connection was down and you didn't discover it because you didn't logged in, your rebate just goes to PLDT's pockets.
Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with PLDT. This is because our work needs us to be on-call and immediately be able to connect to the internet once needed. I still havent arranged with another DSL provider (Globelines) if I could have a connection installed on a particular date so that I could inform PLDT to terminate my account at the end of the month. Coz if not, there would be overlapping subscription and I would end up shouldering the payment for my ISP. But after seeing feedbacks from this post, I think I'll consider Sky DSL first. Then, if not, I'll check the nearby Globelines office. Anyways, thanks to the one who posted this. I'll try sending the link to my officemates for further 'guidance'. :)

happened to me. my sister was using the computer last night and around 1am, she complained na nawalan daw ng connection. up until 12nn of today, wala pa rin. i called pldt and fortunately, i didn't have to wait long. they asked me change the dns addresses tapos yung binigay sa akin, yun naman na ang ginagamit ko! and the guy on the other end said that they will "forward it to their technical people" nga daw. i asked them if it will take 24 hours or perhaps a year? [yes, sarcastic na ako; i know their routine.] sabi niya, he cannot promise.
what i did was change my tcp/ip protocol settings. instead of setting it to the dns addresses they specified, i switched it muna to "obtain dns server automatically." ayun, naka connect ako.

Happened to me too. I'm not subscibed to their DSL plans though. I'm on their Vibe Supersaver Line plan. I got disconnected last night. I was able to reconnect but then I couldn't browse any site. A dead connection. :grrr:

I am communicating with PLDT right now with the NTC copied on each email. They gave me a rebate, well after I demanded for it but still I will be disconnecting the service soon. Install na sana ng Globe ang broadband ko last Thursday pero na-postpone since bumagyo. Wala na talaga pag-asa ang PLDT unless they do major expansion activities.

Don't subscribe to SMART BRO/WIFI!!! Their service sucks!!! I've been having several problems with their connection since it was installed on March of this year. Right now, the average speed of connection ranges from 24-150 kbps only and even worse at night! I feel like I'm using a dial-up connection!!! How's that?!? I have already informed them about this since Sept. 18 but all I get are just promises and apologies. I want ACTION and CLEAR SOLUTION! Unfortunately, they don't have that. :grrr:

Pay P1,999.00 for non-BayanTel landline subscriber-Till now, ito parin ba installation fee nila?

^^^Follow up question lang. I have several options:
1. Retain my PLDT line and myDSL and have them transferred to my new unit
2. Get rid of number 1 and apply for a Bayantel line with SkyDSL
3. Get rid of PLDT myDSL and apply for a standalone SkyDSL running through my PLDT line
4. Avail of MyDestiny cable internet since Destiny is the sole provider at the building.
Which one would you choose?
About number 4, how fast is the download speed on cable? I have no idea how things are on cable internet so I would appreciate it if anyone can provide me with more info.

You seem to be confused with the speeds. 24-150 kbps is only 3-19 kB/sec and 50 kbps is only 6.25 kB/sec which is only slightly better than dialup which is 56 kbps (that's why they call it "56k"). The "50" you mentioned is probably in kilobytes per second, which would make it around 400 kilobits/sec (kbps).

http://politicalpinoy.blogspot.com/2006/10/pldt-mydsl-call-center-agent-curses-at.html
It was an ordinary day for Catherine Rossana (as she repeatedly said on the other end, as her real name) in her work as a customer service representative for PLDT myDSL.
Then came Raul Bacaldo, who came a calling one day complaining that his DSL connection is still down after 2 days and he needs it badly for an iFreedom VOIP call to the US to finalize his itenerary for his trip to the US.
Roughly, their confrontation went this line:
Catherine: Thank you for calling DSL Helpdesk, this is Cathy, good morning.
Raul: Good Morning. Yes, i called because we still do not have dsl since yesterday.
Catherine: Just a moment sir, i will check on your details.(then the usual asking of subscriber account details)..
after checking, Catherine says that there is a software adjustment in the area and will not be able to promise a definite time when it will be back.
Raul: So, i will still be paying for the days that our net is down?
Catherine: Yes, but i can help you to set up on a rebate for the days that you don't have net.
Raul, asked for a supervisor...Catherine refused saying the supervisor will report to work later in the day..
Raul: F$@k your company and the hassle it brings..
Catherine thinking that she had pressed the Mute button on her Avaya was clearly heard saying: F$@k You, why are you acting that way...
Raul: Why are you cussing at me? F$@k you too..
Catherine still did not realize that she pressed the wrong button and not the Mute button, denied repeatedly ever cursing.
Then she went hysterical and cried saying that she is just an employee and that Raul didn't have the right to curse her..
Raul said that he did not curse her but at the hassle that the situation is giving and it is uncalled for to curse him which Catherine still denied but is very clear on the tape that she cussed. Raul then repeatedly cursed at Catherine and asked for a supervisor which she replied by hanging up...
That's a rough translation so don't blame me if you sided with anyone. This was in the news on Bandila( ABS-CBN) today, headlining it as " Call Center Causes Damage to Mental Health"..
You can hear the conversation turned confrontation here...

Yun ang nagrereflect but in actual use, it's barely faster than my dial-up connection (Powersurf and Blast). Even worse pag gabi, ang nagrereflect na speed averages between 25-50 kbps pag minamalas ako. This is not exactly the kind of speed that I am expecting from them. Nung una, 400+ kbps ang bandwidth meter ko. After a month, dun na lumabas ang mga problema. To the point na kinailangan pa ireposition yung router, eh lalo pang bumagal magsimula nun. Worst, I have an online application (home based job) which requires a very fast internet connection for VOIP.
Until now, wala pa rin silang action. I have already reported my complaint to NTC. :grrr:

well, i'm not that surprised that smart bro's not serving their customers well since under siya sa main banner ng pldt company.

"My Destiny" Experience part 1
Tuesday: Applied by phone for Destiny Cable internet through customer service. All is well. All my questions were answered. Installation is 2-3 days but since they are busy at the moment installation was scheduled for Friday (yesterday). No problem.
Wednesday: Received a call from Destiny subcontractor covering our area. Girl confirms my address and reiterates that installation is on Friday. All is well.
Thursday: I called Destiny customer service to confirm installation the next day. Asked for the contact number of the subcontractor so I can confirm also the next day installation (Read kasi here that someone who applied for Destiny broadband took 2 weeks dahil di nagkaintindihan customer service at subcontractor - iwas pusoy!). Customer service gave me a number. Number called was under repair. Called back customer service which assured me that the subcontractors have been informed and that installation will proceed as scheduled. Hmmmm.
Friday: Lumaki na duda ko.
8:30 am. Called the subcontractors number (nag-ring din). Asked for the person who called last Wednesday, wala pa daw. Asked if tuloy yung installation sa amin this day. Man (puzzled), asks someone if "nadaanan na tong surname ko," then says wala pa daw job order para sa amin doon sa kanila, baka nasa Makati pa daw (Patay!!! Nalintikan na ako!). I said that the person that I was looking for called last wednesday and assured me that installation would be today. The man said 9:00 am pa darating yung tumawag sa akin at patatawagan nalang ako. Medyo wala na akong tiwala.
9:30 am. No call pa kaya ako na tumawag. Person who called last Wednesday answered. I asked "bakit ganon?," you said that my internet was supposed to be installed today. She said that I was right and kinuha na yung job order sa Makati. I asked (actually demanding na - pissed off na e) that they install my internet today as promised. She said she would text the people who were responsible for installing and who got my job order and she'd get back to me (call me - yeah right!). Iniwan ko na rin number ko (as if!).
10:00 am. Tinawagan ko na (praning na ako e). She said that the installation guys would include me in the people who they were going to install internet for the day (which was dapat naman), and antayin ko nalang. What time? I asked and got the most popular answer na ginagamit ng mga companies ngayon (kahit saan), "no definite time po." Argh! "Basta ngayong araw ha," I said. "Yes, sir" she replied. So I waited, medyo patiently....
4:00 pm. I called the subcontractor again asking kung matagal pa, and again ite-text daw niya. Haay. So I waited again...
5:00 pm. I called again (baka kasi magkaiba yung network nila and it takes an hour to for texts to go back and forth). Oo daw, kakabitan daw ako ngayon. Meron pa daw kinakabitan at mga 7:00 na daw ako mapupuntahan.
7:00 pm. I called again (kulit no?!). Te-text daw niya. Basta daw sabi sa kanya dadaanan daw yung bahay namin ngayong araw.
8:00 pm. Finally! The phone rings. The guy or one of the guys that was supposed to install my internet looks for me and says "Ay pasensya na sir, naubusan kasi ng modem e..." (Dragonball mode: Activated!!!). Ano?! I said. "Naubos yung modem na dala namin, meron sana dito pero di compatible sa area ninyo" (Charging....charging...) "E sabi ninyo dadaan kayo dito ngayon, bakit wala na kayong modem?, diba dapat meron ako dahil sabi ninyo kakabitan ako ngayon?!" I said. "E pasensya na sir inuna lang namin yung mga priority, mga kahapon pa dapat na-installan" (Ka-me-ha-me.....), "Di ba priority din ako dahil ngayon nyo ako i-skinedyul?" I said. "Oo nga sir pero eksakto lang yung modem namin sa mga job order e." "Huh?!" "Diba kinuha ninyo nga yung job order ko sa Makati, di dapat may modem din ako! Anong gagawin ninyo ngayon?! (...WAVE!!!). Narrate ko na nga para umiksi!
Well, inulit lang niya yung sinabi with apologies and nothing to offer me but that I will be prioritized tomorrow morning, 10 am daw ang earliest. He assured me yes. Superpraning (I) got his cel number na rin, para kulitin mamaya (hahahaha).
Moral of the story. I thought I would be able to avoid this na by doing what I did pero di pala. Totoo bang merong different modems for different areas (mga destiny subscibers)? Or totoo nga *** sinabi ng tumawag? Hmmm.
FYI, 12 noon pa daw nila sinabi sa office na di nila ako mai-installan yesterday dahil sa dami ng "PRIORITIES" nila yet walang nag-inform sa akin since that time. I could have retained my sanity by not waiting 8 hours more for service that was not going to come but alas, baliw na ako, hehehehe...hihihihi....hahahaha.
To be continued later....hoping this ends well. Thanks for reading!!!:)

regarding MyDestiny...
im thinking up of signing up for MyDestiny... in signing up for their service what freebees do you get? routers? etc?
I just had MyDestiny install my DSL internet this afternoon. Area is Quezon City (near Manila and Caloocan border). Well, you get a black Motorola cable modem (which is pretty basic for ISPs). That's it. No freebies.
You pay P2,500 when they finish installing. P500 for the installation fee. P2,000 as deposit fee, refundable after 8 months (but you can apply for future billings).
I paid an extra P420 because I exceeded their 100-ft cable quota by 28 ft (that's P15/feet by the way). And this sucks because they changed it. Standard cable length they provide you is 150 ft., as mentioned in the form.
Mabilis naman pag-install nila. I was up and running in one and a half hours. And the good news is, I'm the only subscriber in this "node" area they call. They had to re-activate this node for me, kasi ako lang subscriber dito. So suwerte din. I'm able to watch YouTube videos without any hitch.
My advice to you is, when they charge you extra for excess cable feet, ask them kung pano nila na-compute yun, just to be sure. I've nothing against them, mabait naman yung installation guys pero won't hurt to be sure about calculations and miscalculations.

I subscribe to Skycable but I don't know how well cable modems work with games. And I think all of them have lock-down periods. (Do any of them offer trial periods?)
If you use DSL in the same area, can you offer some suggestions?

I've tried them all except SmartBro. I only have only one connection at my home/office which is Plan 384Kbps of Bayantel of which I am satisfied. The others I tried in clients' premises. PLDT is also good but downtime periods can take longer compared to Bayantel. Globe is OK but less suitable for sharing and doing R & D as their icky modems connect to USB ports rather than the LAN port and they do block certain protocols. Quite inconvenient for power techies.
Where you'll get the best service depends on who's closest to you. SmartBro gets lotsa flak but if you live next door to their cellsite go for it. Know where the telco's central offices and OPACs (off-premise or outside plant access cabinets) are. In my case, the Bayantel OPAC is around 150 meters away and the PLDT C.O. is around 800 meters away. Essentially, I can't go wrong with either PLDT or Bayantel. A friend of mine who sold out all his gensets during the Milenyo aftermath and lives next door to that PLDT C.O. is running his sex toys ecommerce website right in his own home/office. uv tried them all????
Yep.

I think performance is influenced by many factors. Some PLDT 384K users have speeds that are faster than some 512K users. Some Destiny users have problems while others have none. I guess one has to try each one in the same place and see which is fastest (assuming that problems take place because something in a server was replaced but not adjusted properly, etc.). Unfortunately, this can't be done because they all have lock-in conditions.

hi guys since most of the DSL discussed here are for residential, how about the preferred ISP for business specifically for servers?
Les
Feb 13, 2007, 01:20 AM
If it's for a web server you should consider using hosting abroad instead of running your own here. Given the reliability of business lines here -- slowdowns and intermittency like disco lights -- plus electricity costs, you'll probably end up spending more compared to hosting offshore. This doesn't even factor in the frustration you'll encounter with tech support which are mostly useless and only know how to reset modems. ;)
Also, be advised to read the terms of your ISP package carefully. For example, PLDT's Enterprise DSL (business) is P8,000 for a 2.5 Mbps/768 kbps connection. However, this speed is cunningly worded as 'up to' and the CIR or Committed Information Rate is only a whopping 64 kbps or 8 kB/sec. In short, PLDT assures you that the speed will never go below 8 kB/sec but can potentially reach 2.5 Mbps.

i am currently subscribed to zpdee 1mb. over 2 years na ako subscriber since pinutulan ako ng pldt mydsl. kuntento ako sa bilis saka i like the fact na once i turn on my pc, online na ako, no need to log in or connect. saka kung maputol yung connection, naga-auto-reconnect so kung may dinodownload ako habang tulog ako, it will resume by itself. my friend has pldt dsl and he cant do this, if he leaves his computer downloading in the middle of the night, madalas pag gising nya, naputol yung connection at hindi nagreconnect so sayang yung kuryente nya sa pagiwan nang bukas ng pc.
i am tempted to switch to globe dsl right now dahil P1999 with free landline ang 2mb package nila. i am paying the same price sa zpdee pero 1mb lang ang package ko. but after reading this review [top of this thread], baka hindi na, since zpdee is reportedly the best option right now. if this is as good as it gets, dito na lang ako since menos sakit ng ulo pa rin.
mabilis sumagot ang tech support ng zpdee, if you want to ask them a question without listening to all the recorded messages, just dial 631-0000 then after the first recording starts talking, just press 2 then 4 para deretso ka na...

pldt dsl subscriber here for almost 4 years, my plan (mydsl pro) started at 3xx++kbps package and been automatically upgraded to 7xx++, 1mbps and now currently in the 2mb package. customer support is a bit better now compared before. i planned to change subscriber before but theres no other choice, bayantel would be my next option and and had a phone line with them before but in my location when theres a storm or power failure they dont have dial tone, well we cant surf without power right :naughty:

Yup, but I doubt a flood of people suddenly discovered how to use torrents/P2P. If it's a capacity issue, shouldn't the speed decline be more gradual as new subscribers come in? In this case the drops are dramatic and seems to be more consistent with the ISP limiting the bandwith itself.

gamers or torrenters ka man, dito malapit sa ortigas business center kahit anong ISP ok dito. basing from experience, kahit yang palpak na ISP sa ibang area, nasubokan ko dito at maayos ang hub talaga nila dito. kaya ang pinagbabasihan ko kung pipili ako ng ISP is *** presyo per month nila or pag my current promo.
ISP that i already tried:
Globe
PLDT MyDSL

SkyCable
Destiny

in fairness to pldt, i think kaya naman pumapalya ang service nila in some areas is some jerks are stealing the physical cables para ibenta. that is a common thing sa old manila and it is frustrating for ppl who want broadband in those areas kasi pldt lang ang option for most of them tapos nanakawin pa yung mga cable...

Hi everyone,
I thought you could help me decide on which, what and where to subscribe in.
I'm looking for an internet service like that broadband or dsl thingie for these core purposes.
1. to be able to use skype or yahoo voice and webcam
2. and checking and writing emails.
3. and amazon online, and bank transactions.
My specific concern is, what's the minimum speed shall I subscribe into considering all the the above purposes.
Is the webcam the same as video streaming?
For the yahoo voice and skype, is the 384kbps package sufficient enough? Are the reception already clear?
My first plan is going globe broadband, but UNLUCKILY, there were no vacant globe-bband slots in my area.
I inquire for skydsl (bayantel ata ito) but unfortunately my area is not covered by skydsl :(
Plan C is going unwired,,, either pldtweroam or globe visibility..
Globe visibility is way out of budget for me... P2000/month?.. no way
Pldtweroam has a package of P1200 a month for a 170kbps max speed.,
This monthly rate is okay w/ me but I want to be assured that this rate is sufficed for the yahoo voice and or cam....
Any suggestions on the above??
I'm currently using dial-up on pldt line. And i want to drop off my pldt line coz its charging me around p1000/month even w/o internet service.
Future thanks for the replies.

sobrang bagal na ng download stream ng zpdee ko! i am subscribed to the 1MB package but sa bit torrent, kahit madaming seeder, i cant get a faster download rate than 35kb! my friend who has a 1.2MB pldt dsl connection and i went head to head downloading the same file at the same time last night and he was done in 20 minutes while mine took 4 hours! i reported the matter to zpdee and they sent ppl over today to check it out but they just accessed a website with an internet speed meter and it showed that my connection was 1MB. however, when i download via bit torrent, kahit madaming seeder, ayaw talagang lumagpas ng 35k/sec! can anyone tell me what the problem is, o talagang ganito ang zpdee?
before that earthquake thing in taiwan, naka-768k package lang ako sa zpdee but my download rate used to go up to 80K pag madaming seeder. so i dont get why it cant go past 35k now that i have a 1MB connection.
sadly, globe broadband is not available in my area and all the other dsl packages are more expensive by comparison.

Does anyone here know where I can get internet for the province (besides satellite - since it's a lot more expensive than DSL, wireless, and dial-up). I asked PLDT, and everytime they tell me what seems to be a scripted response - something along this line: "Please be assured that we are currently in the process of extending our services to other areas"... and they've been doing that for the last six months :grrr:
I'm staying in San Joaquin, and there's a Globe cable (it's fibre-optic, unless I'm wrong) going past here from Iloilo towards Antique, but there's no Globe internet service here, probably coz PLDT has connections and they don't want Globe to start an ISP here because they want us to wait for them [PLDT] to install a PLDT fibre-optic cable here... Isn't a DSLAM all that's needed for DSL to be made available? You don't need fibre-optic cables unless it's to provide a backbone connection - just copper... tell me if I'm wrong - because the next town - Miag-ao - is about 12km away, and they have DSL. It's still slow, but it's a lot better than dial-up.
I've already contacted PLDT regarding the matter, but the CSRs don't seem to want to forward me to anyone who knows more - in fact the last CSR said that they "need a line" in order for San Joaquin to have internet - whether DSL or dial-up, although she was already told that we've been using PLDT Vibe cards since December 2006 - at a meager 14.4 - 16.8 kbps according to Windows (however it's a lot slower than stated). After she was told that, she still said that a line is required, which means she doesn't really know what she's talking about.:bop:
Anyway, if anyone has any info, please let me know, and if someone has a sealed PLDT PWEDE Vibe card, could you please post the alternate numbers - preferably the dial-up access number for Iloilo or Bacolod - assuming there are any? Currently the only one I have is the one on the card (which wasn't sealed in plastic with an instruction booklet like the old Vibe cards) 10123, and I think this is in in Luzon, and it's too slow....

great post, but i would give smart bro a 30% rating.
it was fortunate that we have been subscribed to skycable well before we decided to get hooked up with Zpdee. I must say, i am impressed with their service. I didn't mind the installation fees, maybe because of their prompt installation (within 3 days of requesting, we were already connected)*okay* .
We were originally subscribed to 384kbps @ PhP999 but after two months, it had been upgraded to 512kbps at no extra cost (plus my dad really likes the discount we are getting in our cable tv bill):naughty: . i understand that pldt also had a similar move like this to ensure continued support, but i agree that their service needs a lot to be desired.
also, i'd like to share infor about torrents. it's being suppressed overseas specially in the US where they are planning to outlaw it like limewire. just search the net about how they are "killing" torrent technology.

This is how stupid PLDT is.
being newbies, we called to order for the PLDT dsl plan 999 in Dec 2006.
5 week later, someone shows up at our door and says they are here to connect the PLDT DSL 999 plan.....
its a good thing i am quite familiar with the product because I saw their gear and they were about to install SMART WIFI plan 999....thinking i didnt know the friggin difference!! :grrr:
when i questioned them, they claimed that it was the same speed and price, again, thinking I was stupid enough to say...."oh ok, pareho pala yan"...:grrr: :grrr:
so i called the CSR (Pldt) and again the agent tried to bullsh*t me by saying its almost the same as PLDT DSL (sister company etc etc)
so I cancelled it right there and then and called Zpdee for them to install....thank God i did...
what annoys me is i am sure they were able to trick a lot of others into agreeing to take the Smart Wifi plan....
Now get this....every week or so, we can a call from Smart Wifi confirming that they can come over and install since we "requested" for it....BullSh*t!!! , we still keep getting the call even though we have told them that we are already connected to their competitor!!
Dear PLDT:
I hope you go bankrupt.*okay*

@loopy, regarding the static, I'm no techie, but there's supposed to be a DSL filter provided to allow you to use your phone (with no or reduced static at least). Though I do still occasionally experience the static you're talking about. I read somewhere that this may be due to a bad filter, maybe someone here can confirm this.

Application Review (Im from Sampaloc Area near UST)
So i finally decided to get DSL, i thought that was the hard decision, then came which cable provider
Globe - only the wireless is available and the modem is P300 per month rent! - too costly
ZpDee - no service for my area (only intramuros, binondo and malate for Manila
Bayantel - I applied for a P899 line. I inquired from a bayantel office in a mall and they could not even tell me if they have service for my area if I havent submitted the application forms and relevant billing statements. What good will it do me if I secure all the documents and di naman pala pwede. Anyhow since i was coming back the next day for another reason, i brought the necessary papers and true enough there was no service for my residential area and was advised to just wait indefinitely for their service to reach my area, how long they were not sure. I wanted bayantel sana kasi they have 15 day moneyback trial and just P3000 pretermination just in case i get disgusted with the service.
Smart Bro - my neighbor has one and i havent seen a connection speed of more than 100 kbps. You'd have to pay the remaining balance for the rest of the 12 months if you pre-terminate and considering the feedback from pinoyex forums, it may not be a good idea.
PLDT - should i even try?

I havent subscribed to any ISP's given above.. but I have been hearing negative reviews about PLDT. Super sucks daw talaga pati in terms of service.
Sa Globe naman.. my Korean friend had an installation issue. Inabot siya ng 1 month mahigit bago sila kabitan... due to high demand pa siguro. Ewan ko lang ngayon. Still need to ask her how's the speed capability.
For now GLOBE is on top of my list. :) Lalo nat kelangan na ng company naming magpakabit kami ng DSL sa bahay to support our clients during night time and weekends so we can work from home. ;)

Yaicks! i hope the pay is good or that extra work at home. ehehhehe..
Anyways, ako din globe SANA. Enticing kasi ang price nung SPEAK and SURF promo nila. Kaya lang speed is just upto 256kbps.
Pero now im looking into bayanDSL+Phone package.

I've had PLDT myDSL Plan 999 for about 8 months now. For the most part, the performance was ok (except for a week or two after the taiwan earthquake) but not really special. Then about a month ago, the normally acceptable 350+ kbps connection suddenly dropped to about 80kbps. I called 171 several times and got polite "trying to be helpful" answers that later became "your PC has a problem sir, baka may virus" but it didn't solve the problem. The problem persisted for 3 weeks. Finally I wrote an email (thru the mydsl website) and a PLDT technician-troubleshooter showed up a few days later. He kept coming back until the problem was solved about a week later. (hohum ... not surprisingly, it turned out to be their server) Normally this is really nothing to shout about, but when my connetion was fixed, it was suddenly 1-1.5mpbs! It is still 1 mbps up to this moment. I hope it stays this way! Thank you pldt! *okay* *okay* :D

If I live in Scout area near tomas morato, which DSL is better? PLDT or Bayantel
At www.pldtdsl.com, the up to 2 mbps rate is P1995
At www.bayandsl.com, the 2 mbps is P2699 (I don't know if they'll give me a discount since I have a bayantel phone too)
or I might just get 1 mbps at P1699
Which have you tried and works well with limited hassle?

question po sa mga nakakaalam:
I applied sa Bayantel, and they told me that may available pang line para sa area namin. Two days after that the technician dropped by our house, and tinignan niya kung san pwede ikabit yung line. So I waited for like, 30 mins, only to find out na hindi pa pwedeng kabitan ng linya sa bahay namin kasi yung poste na malapit sa bahay is fully-loaded already, and malayo na daw yung ibang poste ng kuryente sa house. (That's what I think he said... I wasn't really paying attention.) He told me na babalik nalang siya, and (I think), he added pa nga _yata_ na baka hindi pwedeng makabitan yung bahay namin (again, I am not sure about this).
Since I never really got the last bit clarified (and since hindi ko na rin natanong), is there a chance ba na hindi na makabitan yung bahay namin ng dsl nila (although also considering that I paid the innstallation fee)?
Hope someone could answer. :)

I had PLDT's 1,995 plan for a year. It was a nightmare; not worth the money you'd spend. My download speed would drop to 30kbps that I felt like I was using a dialup connection. This would go on for days without anybody from PLDT being able to resolve the problem. There were also times when I wouldn't have internet connection for a week.
Right now I'm at plan 2,699 with Bayantel. There are occassional, but tolerable hiccups in service but compared to PLDT's, well there's no point in comparing. Bayantel is light years ahead of PLDT in this arena.

Thanks for the response! I'm definitely going for Bayantel now. I can't imagine PLDT would offer such abysmal service when they're supposedly the biggest telecommunications company in the philippines.

I have PLDT and Bayantel in my area, well we all know the problem with PLDT, the problem with Bayantel here is a little rain to stormy weather, sudden lightning strikes, power fluctuates to power failure and theres no dialtone so no dialtone means no DSL no internet.

Na try ko na yung 3 na yan! PLDT, GLobe at Sky.
Meron silang data only 768Mbps, no telephone unit, just pure data. Mabilis nga!, limited lang yata to.

^^^ Naku. Kelangan ko na palang humabol sa Globe (Data Only - No Landline) Package na iyan.
Saka ayoko ng wireless na inooffer nila. Laging nagkakainterference pag pangit ang weather conditions. Mas maganda pa rin pag "wired" talaga. ;)

Nag-canvass na ako based on the geographical scope of the following services:
2. PLDT myDSL - P999 for 1 Mbps. Ok it's cheap compared to Globelines Plan 1499 for 1Mbps. Pero the billing for the internet and phone rentals are not separated eh. :grrr:
3. SMART Bro - Havent inquired yet. But I am already discrouaged to.
4. ZpDee and GlobalDestiny - Not applicable (yet) in our residential area.
5. Bayan DSL - P899 up to 768 kbps.
=======================
Waah!

No phone lines just pure data.

Ako naman tinetext pa din ng globe agent for their speak and surf promo. Yung wireless na landline.
Pero napapa-isip pa din ako between Bayantel and Globe.

Sta Mesa area kasi kami.
Normal lang na manghingi sila ng documents like ID's and proof of billing if any. Pero wala pa ako idea about their specific requirements about it.
But of course mas ok sa Globe. Hahaha! :D Sana maaprubahan na lang ako for that pag sinabi kong walang service providers ang ok sa amin.

Immediately switched to Globelines Broadband after spending a year with SmartbroKEN.....good decision. Was supposed to subscribe to PLDT DSL but they didn't have available line in our area (I'm from Marikina). Since we also have a Globelines landline, we inquired about their broadband service and luckily there's an available slot on that day. I guess hindi lang ako nasanay sa 1 Mbps speed having suffered a year of Smart's BULOK service. Sobrang bilis ng video streaming sa Youtube and other sites. And they have better service...the customer care agents of Globe are very knowledgeable and professional..alam nila ang isasagot nila and they're very courteous. I guess it's a part of their lives to receive complaints everyday..pour souls. Not to mention the very irritating music of Smart when you're placed on hold...'Umagang Kay Ganda.'
Glad I switched.

I called BayanDSL last friday kung may access na yung service sa area namin. Sabi nung girl, meron na daw and she double-checked pa nga. So within the same day they sent me an application form. I filled it out and then came Saturday, their messenger picked it up. I even paid P1999 installation fee.
Masama pa nito, ako pa mismo ang magrerefund by coming to their office.
I know it is not their "DSL service" I have an issue with, its their efficiency and accuracy in determining the right potential subscribers.
Pupuntahan ko sila bukas and I badly need my money. :bop:

We subscribed to Smart Bro last year and our experience with them was beyond dreadful.
First of, we had intermittent internet connection during the first two weeks of their service. Calling their helpdesk was a pain as well, being put on hold for several minutes, discouteous agents, etc.
And then the heavier problem began during the rainy season. We would lose connection at the first sign of rain...or even drizzle. (Yes, literally and without exaggeration).
September last year, we didn't have connection for 3 weeks so we kept calling their hotline and requesting them not to charge us for the month or at least retroact the fee only for those days when they were able to provide us service. They didn't accept our complaints and even had the nerve to charge us for the entire month and for the 4 months that followed, and this is without providing us any service!
Worse, they sent us 3 demand letters from their lawyers, 1 week apart, saying that we should pay for the 5 months that are left unsettled. Ang kapal. On the 4th demand letter, I wrote to their corporate lawyers enclosing the payment slip for the WHOLE 5 months and I told them to PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY IN PAYMENT FOR THE SERVICE THAT THEY NEVER PROVIDED.
It's like robbery or theft, only this one is documented. Kapal, grabe!
