Ira (or any other whitecoats),
I'll need either an honest opinion or an educated guess.
I'm 18, I smoke an average of 5 high-nicotine cancer-sticks a day, I am roughly 70 pounds over-weight, Most of my exercise comes off a stationary bike--the rest of my day's spent infront of a 14" monitor tapping in on a keyboard.
I have got the crave-jones for fatty and oily meat such as Slabs of pork, I hate vegetables, I only eat a meal with a glass of Soda-cola on the side.
I hit the sack 4am and wake up 9pm on a good day, and it's back to my daily routine.
What's the probability of me reaching the age of 60?

With the current technology, I'd say you have a good chance of reaching 60. Pero...
By the age of 35, you'd have daily meds to control your hypertension and heart problems.
By the age of 45, you'd visit the hospital once a month for complaints of frequent chest pain, difficulty of breathing, etc.
By the age of 55, you'd be attached to an oxygen tank or a respirator.
But, seriously, there's still time to change to a healthy lifestyle. from :goon: to :nerd:
Habang may buhay, may pag-asa! hehehe
PEACE!

I can't really say--tell me your immediate family's medical history, what the average lifespan of the males in your family is, whether you have hypertension, cancer, diabetes or other diseases in your family, whether you're a type A personality, and how much exercise you get. Maybe I can make an educated guess. Human lifespan is still very dependent on the genetic makeup we've been blessed with, although environmental factors may affect how long or how healthily we live.

Well here's my dossier:
Motherside:
Grandfather- dead. Drive by shooting.
Grandmother- Alive. Alive and kicking albeit barely.
Fatherside:
Grandfather- Dead. Another drive by shooting.
Grandmother- Dead. Suffered a stroke, fell off a bed, snapped a carotid.

on your thread replies i guess ... your words have lotsa meat if you know what i mean. at that age, all i think about is saving money to waste on the video arcades. debatin on issues ain't exactly a teen's way of spending time from where i came from.
btw, smoking hits hard as a habit during teens. which means, you'll have a harder time tryin to get off of it than if you started during, say, mid-20s.

Glock, how about illnesses in the family? And on the average, how old are the male relatives who have died of natural causes?

Natural causes? so that doesn't include my grams who had a stroke prior to snapping her neck?
I dunno we're like cursed or something, most of my motherside relatives died from freak accidents.
And wow. Come to think of it none of my immediate family members died of "natural" causes.
I'm hoping I'd be the one to break the jinx. :D

Glock, for God sake, please tell your family members to stop shooting each other.
Regarding your health, at 18 and 70lbs overweight, you need to get your butt off the chair and start doing moderate exercise and cut down on lechon kawale and start eating lots of gulay.

I'm really at a loss to give you any intelligent reply because of your natural family history (specifically, the lack thereof), and we are to a certain extent victims of our own genetic makeup. With the pace of new medical discoveries and drugs that's going on right now, it's very easy for you to live way past 60 or even 80, especially if you go to your doctor for checkups regularly. The patients I see who have worse medical histories than you do easily live past 60, and dying of natural causes before 60 years old would already take some effort on your part compared to how it was even as recently as 20-30 years ago. It's the quality of life you're going to have that I'm not so sure of. My guess would be you would be at a high risk for cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, stroke, and hypercholesterolemia in the near future, what with your weight, your sedentary lifestyle, and your smoking history (I'm pretty sure you know that, too). Lose the excess poundage, start a regular exercise of some sort (even walking for 30 minutes a day 3x a week will produce a significant benefit), and try to cut down on or eliminate completely the deathsticks.
