schatz, i am neither working or studying.
my husband is french. i guess you have a slight idea on how it is, but don't get the wrong ones, if you know what i mean.just moved in latter part of july. my husband worked as an expat in makati for almost 2 years.
well, just a filipino friend to have around while away from home. i honestly don't have any idea regarding these communities. maybe you could brief me on this.
thanks for replying, btw.

yes, I am. Right now I wish I am in Paris though, I`ve never been, only at the outskirt where Eurodisney is. I was not brave enough to drive in the centre of the city . I heard romours you could get loss quite easily if you don`t know where you are going. I have been in the south of France (cann, montecarlo and drove all the way to Spain. Such lovely places I can`t wait to go back. Alsace is a nice place too. So how do you like Paris? hows your french?
Maybe you could give me a free lessons. Its getting cold now isn`t it? brrrr..I don`t like winter wet, dark and cold.
If you fancy a private chat email me.

hi landiday, so how is UK? i believe you have been living there for a relatively long time? paris is wonderful, although we are also situated in the outskirts. we are minutes away from the champs elysses. and yes, you can easily get lost with the intensive road network of paris. these days we are experiencing top quality gray clouds, and minimal showers of sunny warm weather. makes me feel homesick. i am not really a big fan of paris. the traffic, the buildings, the crowd. the city itself, especially when you lived in manila. it's just like a matter of geography. my husband is originally from belfort and that's my idea of living. my french needs a lot of work. i will be going to school soon just to learn it, although i did go to alliance de francais in makati before i left. in no time, it would be a pleasure to share the language with you. btw, we might be in london towards the end of the year to see the show of the millenium. have you seen it? yup, i guess e-mailing would be nice too.

hey schatz!
nice to read from you again.
i'd just like to ask you too for any suggestions on language schools? we have been inquiring and we find most of it a little too expensive because most of them are private schools. maybe you know some schools from your friends or around. we are not quite sure which school it is that hold french classes specifically for asians only, but we heard about it. would you be able to help me with this?
thanks and read from you again.

Getting geared up to drive in France
The Telegraph
By Barrie Mason
(Filed: 17/01/2005)
Living in France there are many facets of daily life that are worthy of note, and for frequent visitors to France the hazards of driving will doubtless be top of the discussion list.
Driving in France is not for the faint-hearted, and definitely not for the weak-hearted. The statistics related to road accidents in France are frightening enough.
France has twice as many road deaths per annum than the United Kingdom. The French government has taken very strong measures to improve the situation and some results can be seen, but there is still a long way to go.
Having driven extensively in France as a tourist, on business, and finally as a resident, I have formed some opinions as to why the driving standards here, in a country of intelligent and cultured people, are abominable.
One overriding facet of the French mentality is the very basic, almost subconscious, aversion to any form of authority. This goes all the way through French society.
The population of France is around 56 million, and it has been said that there are 56 million political parties. The reluctance to accept or comply with any dictate which smacks of regulation is as prevalent in the country's ruling bodies, irrespective of party, as it is in the Gallic masses.
It can hardly be a surprise, therefore, that anyone old enough to sit behind the wheel of a car is either ignorant of the road rules, or, more likely, considers it his or her duty to break them in the name of liberty, equality and fraternity.
No surprise either, to hear the following from a lady in the a local shop, recounting an accident experienced by their young assistant: "It was the other person's fault (of course). Young Pierre had his jaw fractured in three places, cheek bones and nose broken and several other fractures. It's a good job he wasn't wearing a seat belt or it could have been serious".
Note the assumed justification for breaking the law, despite countless statistics proving that seat belts save lives, prevent broken bones, and, thankfully, stop many young Frenchmen from becoming Gerard Depardieu look-alikes.
Incidents at a personal level are too numerous to mention; like the driver taking a short cut the wrong way round a roundabout late at night. He failed to notice my wife going round the correct way, despite the headlights. Fortunately she saw him first.
Roundabouts are relatively new in France, however, the sign always placed at the approach to a roundabout that says: ``You do not have priority,'' is like a red rag to a bull, and should be abolished as a road hazard.
Drivers would then have only a broken white line to ignore, which would be less stressful and would not cause the indignation level to rise to a sufficient height to justify a short cut.
My brother-in-law - the best driver in France, in his own estimation - once proudly told me that he had just made a 180km journey home in one hour. He could not understand my simple question: "Why?" He has only three points left before losing his licence - at least the government has started making some sensible rules - and feels that he is being singled out by the state, quite unjustly, because he drives only slightly faster than others, uses the phone while driving and takes his seat belt off when his CB radio tells him there are no police around.
In most countries drivers believe that they are the best in the world, and will criticise the actions of other nationalities. In France however, national pride dictates that the French driver will not be beaten by anyone, especially a - perish the thought - foreigner.
In my experience in the UK, the driver of a car bearing foreign number plates is treated with caution. In France the sight of a car bearing foreign, especially British, plates can transform a placid, 70-year-old grandmother into a Rambo lookalike with delusions of indestructibility.
She will, if overtaken, accelerate from 30 kph to 190 kph in five seconds, oblivious to burning rubber and supersonic bangs, in order to avenge this affront to their nation's integrity, by overtaking on the most impossible and dangerous bend on a narrow mountain road, and then slowing down once more to 30 kph having regained their rightful place in front of the invader.
I could not wait to buy a car with French number plates. Another possible reason for this blot on the nation's roadscape is impatience. The Frenchman is always in a hurry to move on to the next situation, and a simple problem like driving should not be allowed to delay his transition.
One of the nicer aspects of living in France is the well-known preoccupation with eating and drinking. Meal times in France are looked forward to.
People are impatient to reach the meal, whether it be at home or at a restaurant, and afterwards they normally would have consumed far too much alcohol to be safe drivers. The laws are there to discourage drink-driving, but we know what the French think about laws.
Time to be positive. The French emergency services are absolute wizards. Every accident is handled expertly, and even the aftercare is sympathetic.
So a final thought for those about to drive in France. While on the road avoid hungry, nationalistic intellectuals who know all the laws worth breaking, but if you should bump into one (in a manner of speaking), you will be taken good care of by the services, whose biggest gripe is that they are usually allowed to break the driving laws - which takes the fun out of it!

In case there are other Pinoys here in France, I think the link below is worth looking at. It has news, photos, discussion forums, etc. regarding life here. A link located at the left panel will direct you to a list of Pinoy associations. There's even one that aims to connect not only Pinoy students in France but also in all other parts of Europe. hi there pinoys in france. ;)
matanong ko lang kung sino my knowledge about applying for working visa there in france?
what are the requirement needed?
presently working here in mid-east. last summer i've gone there accompaniying my employer for a vacation and he will help me to apply for my working visa but he can't be sure if the french embassy would issue for me.
i met some pinoys there saying that there are 4 classes para magkaroon ng legal papers:
1. dapat my kakilala sa loob
2. mabayad under the table (some they called it package deal)
3. natural process but usually 5-10 years average of stay on the said country
4. if the employer willing to give all the supporting documents. there will be a big chance that the process will move fast.
is there anything of these would be possible?
this february my employer must to renew all my papers for the reason that they extend my contract for 1 yr. i'll be back there again in summer together w/my employer for a vacation.but it is only
just for formality so that we can request for my working visa in french embassy here in mid-east. they just only issue for me a 6 month stay there. :depressed:
i want some more ideas, please anybody who can share for me?
