these call center training schools are useless and aren't needed. most call centers have their own accent and culture training which lasts around 2 weeks. magsasayang ka lang ng pera when you apply in those schools who offer call center training

it might raise your confidence maybe, but unfortunately English language deficiency cannot be remedied by 100 hours of training.

when you apply in a call center, you'll have training- it's i think sort of a refresher course. the ability to speak cannot be forced in you in ome to two weeks so it's an advantage for you if you've studied your lessons since grade 1 and fulfilled your duties as a student. don't be nervous, everything will come out fine.
about self-confidence, you'll feel confident once you've experienced how it is if you head out the door and see for yourself.

If anything, these so-called call center schools can only offer you the gist of what the call center is all about, the environment, the work and what to expect and so on.
But if you're lacking in your English to begin with (I'm not saying that you are BTW), then your chances on getting (let along surviving) a job as a call center agent are close to nil.
For call simulation. As per the word itself. It simulates a call. So you're the student on one end and maybe your teacher at the other end. As I said, this will give you the feel of how to be an agent. However, trainings for call center offer call simulation anyway. They don't expect new hires to be in the frontlines.
For the record though, I've never been into a call center school before. This is only educated guess at best.
My bottomline? If you feel your English is up to it, just ante up your confidence level and you're quite set. Di nga lang biro magtrabaho dun. I've experienced it first hand.

What you need is an excellent communication skills and not speaking skills ;) and also you must have an excellent listening skills and presence of mind. Remember almost all call center applicant are able to speak in English and only selected few has an excellent communication skills. Call Center Training Course will not really help you landing on the job and if you are planning to enrol in this program you are just wasting your moolah. When you are going to apply on a call center job there are lots of long interviews plus call simulations, so this means that during the application process they already screening all the applicants. Always remember during your application what matters most is HOW YOU SAY IT and not what you will going to say during the interview. Make a good impression from the start, dress well, smells well, arrive with attitude and be patient while waiting for your turn to be interviewed and don't forget to smile and make an eye to eye contact while your are talking to the interviewer then......voila quickie while inside the room he he he joke......
BTW, learn to practice how to simplify your sentence (use subject, verb and predicate as much as possible..tama ba ako?) or how to give or deliver a complete thought without sacrificing the quality :D..Remember what matters is how you deliver your sentence..
for example in one of your post below:

this can be rephrase to:
Thanks...Since I dont have any experience applying for a call center jobs, I dont have any idea on what this 'Call Simulation' is all bout. Would you please cite an example on how it works? The reason why I'm interested is because I red in the newspaper that training schools actually helps you prepared on call simulation, is this true?

may i suggest that you watch a lot of american movies and try to imitate the correct pronounciation of every word. you could also construct sentences by hearing some of the words. but of course you need to understand what the conversation is all about.
if your having trouble with american movies you could start by watching sesame street it really helps. i've seen copies floating around waiting to be bought.
excellent communication skills is just the tip of the iceberg.
try constructing an email letter with the phrases given in a computer simulation test within a given time frame.
the situation a customer emailed a csr asking how much is a plane ticket to new york, first class and where could the customer rent a vehicle after he lands at the jfk airport. what you need to do is to construct a letter replying to the customer and you should know how to construct a letter! phrases are already given in the simulation test. what you need to do is write a short, simple, and concise letter.
wala pa yung actual na call, multi-tasking yun once you received a call you need to ask the name, account number. (depending on the account) at the same time typing the information on your computer. then you need to come up with a solution to the customers dilemma, in english. csr is no joking matter.
me average handling time yun per call. oo nga pala kailangan mabilis ka magtype at least mga 40 wpm. mag practice ka na!!! sa sales wala typing. kaya pag wala ka typing skills test malamang sa sales ka babagsak,.
kaya kung ayaw mo dumaan sa proseso ng csr. mag sales ka!!! yun nga lang mahirap magbenta. lalo na outbound. chances are if you can't make it sa csr position. sa sales ka babagsak o di kaya sasabihin sa yo tatawagan ka na lang which means your not qualified for the job. but never lose hope you can learn from your mistakes as you apply keep on applying for a job.
oh by the way if you stuttered during the interview no chance in hell ka matatanggap. I'am not trying to scare you should prepare for what's coming to you this is the real deal. sa job interview trial and error naman yan apply ka lang ng apply.

ngrephrase nga mali naman lolz
Call Center crash course provides tips (american accent, US geography, teach you the basic skills of a call center agent). Meron din role play ng actual interview, tuturuan ka kung pano sumagot ng tama, do's & dont's and Q&A's during interview. I guess this is ideal for those who don't have any call center exp, it somehow gives you an idea especially during call sims because you already know how to begin and end a call.

i agree with austin_20. it will help you understand the culture a li'l bit. applicants think that it's all about speaking english and a fat paycheck.
i'm a trainer. i help my students understand what they are capable of and decide if they can handle it. i admit that most would think that it's going to be a waste of time and money. for people who already have what it takes, it's easy. but it's different for a lot of people. most of the time, it's a problem with self esteem.
i don't do miracles. i know i can't transform an ugly duckling with a p and f syndrome to a beautiful cnn speaking swan in 12 days.
but most of the time all they need is a push.

Well, let's think about this for a moment: the call center schools are for people trying to get in; the training for agents are for ones already hired. So the schools that we have are for those who couldn't get in, one way or the other. Initial interview already gauges your English proficiency, and if you flunk that, then your chances are next to nil. So I would say these schools might help. i said might, since in the end it's still up to the students how much they've absorbed, or willing to absorb. As someone did point out here, you can't get American accent in just 100 hours, unless you speak it even outside of class.
