almost all call centers have openings for multi-lingual agents and their salary is around 25k and up. often times they get paid more than the team leads

Basta call center agents who speak Spanish, French, German or Chinese or Italian or Arabic yata eh lampas 30k and up to 50 or 60k ang NET TAKEHOME PAY. Malaki kasi ang premium kapag marunong ka na ng agent skills eh marunong ka pa ng foreign language.

Hello multilingual agent po ako for Sykes.
benefit's same lang sa English speaking agents.

For Chinese (usually Mandarin and Cantonese)
We have the so-called language bonus and classification as follows:
Class A(Fluency similar to that of native speakers): 15,000
Class B(Quite fluent but have a foreign accent he he) : 10,000
Class C: 5,000
If you support both languages : 20,000 ang Language allowance

So it will be Language allowance + basic salary(depending on account) + benefits = your salary
It is taxable :(

As for Korean - there is no language allowance. It is integrated to their basic salary(This a boon to them - they get higher yearly appraisal because of that)
40,000 and up.

Japanese = 50,000 and up (highest paid)

The unfair part is ...kung marunong ka magEnglish and youre asked to do English support ...you dont get English language bonus he he ...

Another good thing or bad to some ....walang night differential, usually regular 8-5 M-F job siya ...:D

I've no idea for the other languages

I have to admit that Sykes does not have the highest salary for multiligual agents..but I can say the accounts w/ languages are quite stable.

ano po bang mga accounts ang hinahawakan ng mga spanish speaking agents? gaya din po ba ito ng english speaking accounts?
and by the way, ano po ba ang specific requirements for the job? I mean, for example sa spanish, mga ilang units ng spanish subjects earned in college at least para masabi na pwede na sa account na to? :)

Jejeje.... iPrefiero dormir! :D

It's not the number of units you took in college, rather it's your level of fluency / competence, spontaneity, and confidence when using the Spanish language. I know that call centers are REALLY courting Spanish speakers (Etel once gave a signup premium of P60K - good lord!) since they get flooded by los que no hablan ingles. :)

Try studying at Instituto Cervantes for a year or two. You must practive TOTAL IMMERSION - (leer) read, (escribir) write, (hablar) speak, (escuchar) listen en espanol. Watch TVE, learn your vocabulary, tenses, and idioms. Force yourself to speak with other Spanish speakers, no matter how "barok" your Spanish may sound. You might get bored along the way, but believe me, once you've learned the language, offers start pouring in! ;)

Espero que este mensaje te haya ayudado mucho de hacer una decision. iMucha suerte y ojala que tenga exito en su carrera! *okay*

actually, I'm already studying in instituto but I'm just in level 1. although I already have basic knowledge, I want to start from scratch to know the fundamentals. :) I believe Instituto offers up to level 24. Do I have to reach that level to reach a respectable level of fluency? if not, how many levels, in your opinion, do I have to achieve to be qualified as a call center agent in a spanish account? :)

^^^
you don't have to reach level 24 to reach a good level of fluency. i was just at level 10 at instituto when i got hired as a spanish agent in a major call center.

continue your studies! trust me!

i work abroad now and i use my spanish at work. in fact, my team is composed of native speakers. so studying spanish got me places and i really suggest that everyone take it up, especially at instituto. i only finished until level 17 because i had to leave but when i come back, definitely i'll enroll again because i simply want to finish all the levels. hahaha, labo.

if you want to learn fast, then read, read, read. and whenever you have opportunities to speak, then speak.

Mandarin is also in demand as well for call center agents.

There are classes that you can take at Ateneo De Manila's premier Chinese language center, the Confucius Institute(Ricardo Leong Center for Chinese studies). They are also teaching Chinese language teachers to teach Mandarin all over the Philippines.

Contact them for fees.

Hahaha..... It started to feel like one na... before it feels like a regular office job, but nowadays... the only difference is that it's a morning shift (shifting schedule in the morning)

One thing that kept me from resigning is that the fact that we don't have to be part of the "8" hours productive time as known as "9.5 hours work a day". hahahaha.....

reallY? aside from the fact that it's a morning shift, what made you say that it's not a call center job? by the way, specifically what are the duties and responsibilities for this job and what are the requirements? :)
