Last Saturday, ZiLOG together with IEEE of UPD, launched the final leg of the Microcontroller Application Design Competition held in Alabang.
This year, 2006, competition was swept by two state/city universities - Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) and University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD).
Here are the results:
Classic Mobot Race:
1. PLM
2. UPD
3. PLM
Mission based Race
Mission A:
1. UPD
2. UPD
Mission B:
1. UPD
2. UPD
3. UPD
Open Design Competition:
Winner - UPD
Honorable Mention - many to mention and I forgot to take notes... hehehe... there were seven honorable mentions I think... some came from UPD, USC and Ateneo... I really forgot the rest.
Congratulations to all the winners.
I hope that next year, PLM will join the open design competition. And I pray that PLM will defend its title in MOBOT race for years to come (I heard that we were undefeated in this category).
PLM is my alma-mater and I am proud of it... so glad that I dropped by to watch. The Finals match between UPD and PLM is one hell of a game.*okay*
UPD is one team to beat... I hope that other engg schools prove their worth...
HONESTY.

maganda ba ang facilities ng PLM?
Not good enough. PLM's gems are its students and some able faculty members.
HONESTY.

What's with having more than one city college in the first place? It tends to dilute the funding. The money used on the new UdM building could have been used on improving PLM's facilities. Also, if I remember correctly, EARIST is also city-controlled. I visited the campus a couple of years ago, and saying that it's "decrepit" is an understatement.

Maybe those who will not pass PLMAT can have the option to be scholar at UdM. :)

^^ wow, thanks kolmogorov... where did you get the list?
do you also have the list of the winners for the mobot races?
Congrats to all the winners.
As per Dr. Sison and Prof Osborne, the competition is very tight this year that's why they decided to give honorable mentions.
@kolmogorov: were you able to join?

I got the list from their yahoogroups (it's public). No list available yet on the mobile race winners.
I'm already a graduate but during my EEE days, I never got the chance to join the MADC kasi ibang lab yung sinalihan ko and our field of specialization is different. Di rin ako nakapanood dahil laging may exam :(

Sayang... ang gugulo ng mga taga-UPD at PLM noong final round na...
Semifinals:
UPD beat the eventual 3rd place winner from PLM.
Finals:
PLM won race #1
UPD won race #2
PLM won race #3 and then declared champion.
grabe... ang saya-saya...

I was an instructor in PLM... I just dropped by to watch, and of course, to support CET.
May kulang pala sa blow-by-blow account ko...
in between eh may mga bloopers ang dalawang kampo...
nung una, nag-false start ang PLM, so repeat that's when UPD won race #2,
nung pangalawa, nag-false start naman ang UPD, so bawi-bawi na.
nung pangatlo, nawala sa track ang dalawang mobots...
basta ang tension nandun... kaya ang saya-saya... next time maki-watch ka na rin... hehehe.
