For most multinational corporations, does completing a final interview indicate that you have a higher chance of getting the job?

I just completed my final interview for a management trainee position in a multinational corporation (as in a BIG MULTINATIONAL corporation), but still I am a bit doubtful whether to “expect” a lot from it or not. Of course I do have high hopes of getting in but according to the Director, he is still scheduled to interview other candidates. Only 2 people will be chosen. I was the first one daw yesterday, so I still have to wait for sometime before I can receive an update on my FINAL STATUS.

I am presently employed, but I am planning to resign from my position as early as possible. I know that my present company honors a 30-day notice, but my post is a bit crucial and I have numerous projects that are in-line for me this quarter, so I really plan to hand my resignation letter on an earlier date to avoid serious disruption on my department. I really wanna get in because it is a dream company for me but should I resign early or not? Or better yet, should I inform my superior about my situation?

Just wanna hear your thoughts….

Thanks in advance!

If there's anything I learned last year, do not resign unless you have accepted another job offer.

In your case, the best thing that you can do is wait. You cannot risk your present job for something you're not 100% sure of.

And telling your superior? That's the last thing you wanna do. What if you're not considered for the job you're applying? What are you going to say to your boss?
