I know that these 2 terms are mistaken to mean one and the other , though actually its not.
Please talk about these 2 terms comprehensively.
Thanks

based on how i understood your statement (question?) you want to know how calories differ from fats in relation to weight gain/loss - tama ba? based on krause and mahan,
calorie - is the standard unit for measuring heat; it is the amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree celsius. since heat is one result of energy generated by the body, the calorie can serve as a measure of energy production.
each food has a specific caloric value; that is, a given amount of food will yield a certain number of calories when it is burned or when it is metabolized in the body, and the caloric yield depends on the composition of the food in terms of protein, fat, carbohydrate and alcohol.
the amount of heat produced per gram of samples of protein, fat, carbohydrate and alcohol is as follows:
1 g protein = 5.65kcal
1 g fat = 9.45kcal
1 g carbohydrate = 4.10kcal
1 g alcohol = 7.10kcal
* in other words, a calorie is not something independent. it is the result of intake/metabolism of protein, fat, etc. fat and calories do not mean one and the same thing.
now, depending on the proportion of your food intake, your level of activity (moderate, active, etc), plus maybe your genetic make-up, your age, you will either gain/lose weight.
anyway, if i can remember it right, if you want to lose 1 lb. a week, all you have to do is to decrease your food intake/consumption by 500 calories a day. if you want to gain weight, just increase your intake by 500 calories a day. 1-2 lbs weight loss per week is safe. you might also want to take note of your daily recommended dietary allowance (rda).
i hope i was able to shed some light on the matter

Comprehensively...? :~( Have mercy on me! It would take more than one book to cover that topic.
Anyway, simply put, calories is stored energy. All types of food (carbohydrates, fat, protein) have corresponding amounts of energy. Carbohydrates and proteins each contain 4 calories per gram. Fats (whether monounsaturated, saturated, polyunsaturated) contain 9 calories per gram. So having a high calorie intake does not necessarily mean that you're eating a high-fat diet. However, excess calories from, say, a high protein diet is converted to fat as glycogen. So you also can get fat taking a low-fat, high calorie diet. And eating a high-fat diet (particularly saturated fats) may cause increased serum cholesterol, which increases your risk of heart disease.

To make things easier for you, I have the following questions:
1. How much calorie should one have?
2. What is the best work-out, aside from exercising, that burns more calories?
Thanks

Depends on your height and sex.

Workout isn't the best; it's the only way to burn calories. You can't use up energy when you're not moving, can you?

if you want to get a quick answer to your question (recommended dietary allowance a.k.a. rda), you could try buying pamphlets/etc from the food and nutrition research institute (fnri) - it's somewhere in taguig or maybe you could consult a dietitian

Details? Do you have reason to think your weight problem might have something to do with with an underlying medical condition? If your intention is simply to formulate a dietary plan, I suggest you sign up at a reputable gym. Most of the major ones have their own dieticians (or can refer you to one) and you get a good exercise regimen started. Both are equally important factors in sustainable weight loss.
Doctors have a basic idea what sort of dietary plan you should have, but a dietician would be a lot more knowledgeable on how this plan converts into at least 3 meals a day.

Hello Doc, lately I have been eating less. Just water or a Nestle Chuckie (chocolate drink) when I get hungry and one full meal a day - either of the three meals. I don't feel hungry naman, just a bit sluggish. I am around 55 lbs. overweight kasi (my BMI is classified 'obese'). My question is, okay lang bang hindi kumain ng solid foods for days? Since I'm not sure, I still eat one meal a day... pero kung ok lang pala, I think I'll substitute water or Chuckie na lang and not eat anything. My mom thinks ok lang daw... I just need a doctor's opinion.
I am also planning to exercise na. I admit tamad po talaga ako kaya ako lumobo. Hindi ako ganito ka-overweight dati (siguro 10 lbs at most)... nag-progress lang.
Thanks po!

Gibo, I tried Ripped Fuel Extreme last year but I didn't notice if it gave me any kind of help since my diet was very clean to begin with plus the fact that caffeine does not affect me. I suggest that you first make significant changes in your eating habits before contemplating on using fat burners. Peace.

Obviously, your trainer just wants your money...
if your training and eating habits are in check, you won't need any of those supplements
