Which do you think would likely be in demand and advance fast in corporate career? The one with a CMA certification (the one of IMA) or CFA title?

Depends on what career you want. If you want an investment finance career, CFA is the gold standard. CFA is also more difficult to obtain.

Yup and more expensive for that matter... I know there are lots of those who want to go climb the corporate ladder taking this path... But do you think it would still be useful outside investment or banking practice? What about CMA? Anyone who has taken this exam and how it helped their career? :bop:

Most of our CFA charterholders are in investments, but there are some who are corporate planning guys in large conglomerates (Ayala, SMC, Lopez, JG), who are heavily involved in valuing companies and projects for M&A and venture capital purposes.

True!!!! Although Im not sure if hard core Investment Analysis would be my cup of tea... :D I am more inclined to do managerial finance if ever... But of course a CFA title is more prestigious although I just don't know if its functional enough in a corporate accounting system... And passing either is the first step.... :rotflmao:

Well the one way to determine which, is which designation will give you a higher income premium. May global studies ang CFA Institute that shows the CFA designation's premium over an MBA. The global median for a CFA charterholder is about US$210,000, here it's about P1.5MM annual gross. But there are some CFA charterholders here that really rake in big bucks.

Hulk you're a cfa charterholder right? May I know how much would each exam cost for CFA... I plan to either take a masters in finance in DLSU or UP before taking at least the level one... Would you advise me to do so? Thanks...

Yes, I am a charterholder. You can check out the fees sa cfainstitute.org The fee varies kung kelan ka magre-register. It's also more expensive now that kasama na yung cost of reading materials sa fees.
Well if you feel that it's an edge, you can study sa UP or DLSU. But a lot of charterholders do not have post-grad studies. Ako I got my MBA years after my charter.

I got mine in this order: CPA, CFA, MBA. Worth it? Well I am pretty satisfied with the income that I am currently making.
