View Full Version : Pre-Employment Concerns (SSS, TIN, etc.)

Let this thread serve as an avenue to discuss various pre-employment requirements (SSS, TIN, Pag-ibig, Philhealth).
As we know, employers require new employees (especially fresh grads or those who will work for the first time) with an SSS number (with ID if possible), TIN # (ID), Pag-ibig # (ID), and Philhealth # (ID).
Let me start with the questions.
1) How do I get an SSS ID? I already got an SSS # and E1 form from a local branch of SSS, but I have no idea as to how I can secure an ID. Can I get it from the same branch where I applied?
2) How do I get a TIN # (ID)? Will I get the ID (or just the number?) immediately after submitting my application for registration?
3) Same question for number 2 about Pag-ibig # (ID)?
4) Can anybody cite the "benefits" of securing these and allowing these to deduct my salary?

AFAIK, you can secure an ID after you have made a pre-determined number of contributions (via deductions which are remitted by the company).
You may check online here (https://sss-online.sss.gov.ph/sss/controller) to see if you are qualified already.
2) How do I get a TIN # (ID)? Will I get the ID (or just the number?) immediately after submitting my application for registration?
3) Same question for number 2 about Pag-ibig # (ID)?
First time employee? Your new employer should get these (TIN # / HDMF #) for you. Just fill up the necessary forms and submit them along with other documents/pictures.
4) Can anybody cite the "benefits" of securing these and allowing these to deduct my salary?
It's not a matter of "allowing" these to be deducted. These are mandatory.
Benefits of securing these IDs include the fact that these are recognized valid IDs which are accepted in establishments as proof of identification (such as banks, credit card companies, etc).
Benefits of "paying" include:
BIR: you'll be a good citizen. If the BIR does random checking and you don't have the corresponding proof (BIR Form 1700 and 2316) you may be liable for tax evasion.
SSS: Sickness, Maternity benefits (monetary in nature). Salary and calamity loans of up to more than 20k payable in a few years. Of course, loan benefits can be availed only afer 36 (?) monthly contributions.
Philhealth: Hospitalization discounts, among others.

^apparently, my "potential" employer will not (or is not in their policy) accomplish my TIN # and PHIC (I already got my Philhealth number yesterday). What i did was I gave to the employer my application form for TIN and Pag-ibig since there are portions in the form where the employer has to sign and fill-up information. Was it the correct thing to do?

@therealdeal

sabi nila, for the TIN ID, you have to know where your RDO (regional district office) is located, tas dun mo kukunin un TIN ID. most likely, kung san un first job mo, dun ang RDO mo (ie. Makati, Ortigas, etc). eto lang sabi sakin, i need to do it din e. hehehe. but u can check sa BIR form mo sa HR, baka nakalagay yata dun un RDO where u can request for the TIN ID.
sa SSS ID, dpat u have SSS number muna. must have submitted docs like birth certificate (NSO). then proceed to SSS office for the ID picture. may e-6 form for to fill out for the requirements. for initial ID, no fee. but for renewal, P150.00. :)

Hello,
Are SSS, Pag-ibig and Philhealth mandated by the government if you are an employee? What if I currently work for a company as a contractor and the company does not submit contributions for contractors, do I need to voluntary submit my contributions?

Take note that for first timers na kukuhan ng SSS id, SSS branches take a first come first serve basis process. They will only accomodate the first 100 customers for the day. If you go in the afternoon (just like me), you just have to go back another day.
Hassle, pero I guess we just have to follow their rules...

The SSS Form E-1 is given when you apply for your SSS Number for the first time.
The SSS Number is almost always a pre-employment requirement, thus you must apply for it personally.
While you're at it, you might as well apply for the SSS Card via form E-6 which is downloadable.

Yes.
What if I currently work for a company as a contractor and the company does not submit contributions for contractors, do I need to voluntary submit my contributions?
Since you are a contractor (ergo not an employee - but check your contract first for the employer-employee clause), they are not required to deduct and submit contributions for you.
You need to make contributions. However it is totally up to you if you actually will do so.

So does this mean that it is not mandated by the government if you are just a "contractor?"

when i applied for my E-1 Form, unfortunately, di daw valid yung birth certicificate ko. i was asked to follow up. thus i was given a temporary no. is this valid? has this happened to anyone? to add to the hassle pa, i was asked to go directly to the other branch kasi di na daw ako sakop ng main.

^^according to SSS, they have our IDs made in France. Then, we were not able to meet the requirement/s (they did not specify what that was or were), and so the ID printing were halted for awhile.
And as of the moment, you can only have your picture taken for the digitized ID at SSS main, the one at East Ave., QC.
If you still have your E-6 stub, you can bring it with you to follow up.
