My child is over 2.5 years of age this has served us quite a while. Construction is sturdy and assembly is easy (mostly snap-ons). The stroller can be folded so as to easily store in a closet or the luggage compartment of a car (as small as a 91' Honda Civic hatchback) when going out. The carriage has a 5-point seatbelt to hold the child securely and the entire carriage can be attached/detached from the base which is held down by the center seatbelt at the back of any car. It is also waterproof and the seat cushions can be easily removed for cleaning (although at the age of 2.5 years, I had to switch to a car seat that would serve the child similarly as booster seat). I think I got it for around $100, but at that price, and with the safety and lifetime of the carriage, sulit na sulit ang bayad.

By the way, we bought the travel system (Quattro Tour Travel System with LATCH - Blueberry) in 2003 for our daughter. But since she's already one and nearing 20 lbs we recently bought an infant-toddler carseat (Triumph 5 Comfort Touch Convertible Car Seat with LATCH: Aristotle).

Hope this helps. :)

You'd start out with deciding how you want your stroller to collapse, either down flat on the ground or close up like an umbrella. You certainly have to consider its overall weight since even though it will be for your baby you and your wife will be the ones loading it to and unloading it from your car(s).

I recommend going with an umbrella stroller and be kind to your and your wife's backs. :) Since you're looking at Inglesinas, save yourself about $300 and go with their Zippy systems. From the looks of it, the Zippy stroller works exactly like Peg Perego's PlikoMatic. You don't have to bend down to pick it up. It takes two seconds to open it up and two and a half to collapse.

We bought our Pliko Travel System three years ago. Its infant seat (Primo Viaggio) attaches perfectly on the stroller. You can lift the whole travel system by the infant seat handle and the stroller won't fall off. The stroller is quite durable. I've tossed it around like I had no use for it. It can handle any terrain you put it through, and yes, it can handle Manila. I've used it also to haul loads and loads of groceries and what have you from our car to our apartment. Its wheels haven't squeaked to date. I was anything but careful.

Anything better than an Inglesina Zippy or a Peg Perego Pliko would have to be a Bugaboo Frog, and the stroller alone costs well over $700.

my daughter is already 13 mos and her graco lite rider stroller is still almost good as new. i know that srollers can be bulky lo bring around and all but it's really hard to do without one that's of good quality. invest in a nice stroller coz they'll last you for many years. graco's price is quite affordable too.

I use the Jeep stroller. Every time we're at the mall we hear comments like, "what a cute stroller!". Or "Hey mom that's cute!" "The stroller? Yeah it is." It has a toy steering wheel in front and a toy ignition that plays cute sounds and songs and even has its own horn. It can recline and has a huge storag space and three cup holders, two for the parent right on the handle and one for the baby.

Highly recommended.

Can the top of the line double strollers be found locally (meaning within Manila)?

I have a 20 month old daughter, and my wife is due to have our 2nd baby in August. Since my daughter's graco stroller looks worn out na, I want to buy a double stroller so we can have our two kids in one stroller.

I'm thinking of getting either a Peg Perego Tender XL, a Graco Duoglider, or a Jeep Wagoneer Limited Duo. Thing is, these are just strollers I've found on the net. Shipping and handling may double the prices if I roder online, and most sites don't ship strollers outside of the states.

:help:

Where can I find these locally? :teehee:

It depends on the purpose of your stroller. If you would go for the heavy duty type that would last until your 5th child, then go for the graco. If ur baby is a big one, I suggest the Giant Carrier, trust me my daughter didn't fit into Graco. 3rd, if you go for practicality, quality & style...Buy Baby Company

we have a stroller which my 1st baby hardly used. i realized that if i took him out in one, all he'd see are knees of other people (since the stroller's at just that height).

with my second (now), i carry him in a baby sling, which is a whole lot better.

since you're practically a new dad (feb born right?) i suggest you try out a sling. the baby will be closer to you (literally), it'll be like you're carrying him or her in your arms.

imo, a baby sling is only good to use if you're going for a short trip. first, the weight of your baby might cause you back pain if used for a longer time. plus, if using a baby sling, make sure that you're NOT going any place where the floor/ground is bumpy or slippery or going thru stairs.
have you thought what would happen to your baby in case you slip or fall?? i've owned a couple of baby carriers/slings (baby bjorn and snugli vent aire) for my now 8 month old baby. but now, i never use them coz aside from the fact that my baby is now heavy, i've been advised by other moms na delikado nga rin daw to at baka madapa ka or matapilok..sigurado grabe damage nyan sa baby..just a reminder, accidents can happen. a stroller, is most convenient pa din when doing errands or going to the mall. mas safe si baby sa stroller. just buy a lightweight stroller para hindi sya bulky sa car trunk mo.

i totally disagree with you honey!

i have been carrying my daughter in different kinds of carriers (wraps, ergonomic carriers, slings, mei tais) and own about 30 carriers to date. after 10 minutes with my baby björn, i ditched it coz it was never good for my back. baby björn is the MOST UNERGONOMIC carrier there is, as well as snugli because of the thin shoulder straps.

slings (ringslings or pouches that is are more ergonomic than the björn since it spreads the weight of the baby on your (one) shoulder and back...two shoulder carriers like wraps and mei tai are even better in my opinion when it comes to distributing weight more.....pero baby björn and snugli....no no:eek: ...never again!!!

i have been carrying my baby since she was a newborn..was able to carry her for 5 hours straight without taking her off the carrier when she was about 7.5 kls heavy......i can still carry her for 3 hours straight now that she is 9 kls....the better carrier you have, the less back pain there will be...it is also a plus that you have built your babywearing muscles over time....kelangan ng training.....

anyways, on the subject of strollers, i suggest phil&teds (http://www.philandteds.com/cat.htm)..i have friends who have this and they totally love love love it!!!!!

I used an Evenflo stroller which my sister sent me from the US kasi mahal ang magagandang stroller dito na talagang matibay. since nagsale don, nagpabili ako ng stroller set with the carrier. it's really bulky, tawag ko nga dun eroplano pag nasa mall kami kasi nde sha kasya sa mga pagitan ng mga stalls sa baby section!! it's evenflo pero ang liner nya/sapin is made by osh kosh.. i didn't know meron palang tie up ng mga products sa states.. ngayon ang ginagamit ko na eh yung umbrella type.. pinamana ko na yung stroller and carrier set ko sa cousin ko.. am sure kahit na sa mga susunod kong cousins eh magagamit pa yun kasi ang tibay nya.. magaan pa at nde nag wobble ang gulong kahit sa anong klaseng pavement mo sha gamitin... by the way, the carrier is sooo nice coz it also rocks sa madali makatulog si baby lalo na pag masama ang pakiramdam... hehehe...

Any feedback about the following travel strollers?
Maclaren Techno XT

On Maclaren Techno:

Pro: lightweight, umbrella-type which means you don't have to squat down to pick it up once collapsed. Extremely easy to turn with only one hand.

Con: front wheels can rattle badly like some beat up grocery cart. I thought it was just a fluke, but we found just the same with more than five units just out of their boxes the day we went back to the store. It was too annoying to put up with, so we stayed with our pretty heavy but reliable and quiet old pliko. For its price, it shouldn't rattle at all.

Thanks NOKiE. I also came across some unfavorable reviews regarding the wheels and braking mechanism, so I think we'll go for the Quinny Zapp.

We got a Quinny Zapp for our 2 1/2 yr old, we also have a 1 yr old girl = they just share whenever we go out. We used it in our trip to Singapore, great to use, easy to pack. Around US300, worth the price than bug-a-boo. Best thing, it fits in the legroom below your seat -- no need to pack in the trunk.

Oo nga e, it's really compact when folded. I watched the demo on their website but when I saw a saleslady pack up the actual thing in the store I was still amazed :D I didn't know it could fit under an airplane seat though, another point for the Quinny Zapp!

I'm a first time mom who's 7mos preggers and am just about to complete my baby shopping list. I am undecided whether to buy a crib + mattress or a playpen/play yard that comes with a built-in bassinet (a la Graco Pack N' Play). May difference ba?? Is one more recommended that the other? Help

Juno
Feb 26, 2007, 03:44 PM
i also had the same dilemma when i was preggy. i opted for the pack n play. aside for obvious advantages, such as it's foldable and it's also a play yard, what's nice about it is you don't need to buy a matress na and even crib bumpers coz the sides are soft.

other advantages:
- if u buy a pack n play and your baby ends up sleeping in your bed, at least you can use the pack n play as a playpen!
- it has a changing station already

there are some disadvantages, however:
- difficult or impossible to attach crib toys because most crib toys available here are made for wooden cribs, not pack n plays
- difficult or impossible to find extra sheet covers for the matress that comes w/ the pack n play (i had to ask my sister in the US to buy this for me. if you do opt for a pack 'n play let me know if u want to buy an extra bedsheet, i have one. washed but unused :) )
- the matress is hard. but the times my son slept in it (which was a rare occasion coz gusto niya palagi may katabi), he was OK with it.
- it can be used as a play pen BUT it's not that big. baby might feel clausterphobic.

The pack n play i got was very simple - it had a bassinet, changing station, pockets on the side and a mobile. the model name is Colby. i'm not sure if they're still selling this model. there's a new colby model out now on graco's website and it has a lot of features. the colby model i got was only P6999.75, 2 years ago.

Hope this helps!! :)

I think a play yard is more flexible. You can always purchase an additional mattress or have one custom-made so that baby sleeps more comfortably.

derkins
Feb 27, 2007, 04:43 AM
Thanks for the tip, Juno! And I will contact you for the extra sheet cover you have :)

There are only about 5 Pack N Play models here in the Philippines, of which only one model can still be found in the official web site so I'm assuming everything else here is old stock. The cost now ranges from P8,500 to P9,999.00 -- the more expensive one has a night light, music and vibrating feature. I'd like to think it's better than buying a wooden crib where one has to spend extra on a good mattress, crib sets, etc.

Thanks again!

we bought a wooden crib... our baby slept there for only a few times (very very very few)... we preferred that he sleep beside us... now, the crib is a very useful tool for storage of toys, diapers, and other stuff... hehehe

if u plan to let your baby sleep beside you, i would suggest you buy a play pen instead.

another point of view, my friend's baby sleeps in the crib coz he's afraid that he might smother his baby while he's asleep.

My baby used his wooden crib from birth to 7 months for day time naps. at night he co-sleeps with us. The crib was fairly ok kasi we can have it adjusted to hi - mid - low level.

when he started rolling na, we bought him the Gracco playpen (the one with nightlight/vibrating feature and music) but he stayed in it for few times lang cos he preffered sleeping on our bed.

But the good thing about playpen is, it provides more room not just for sleep but for play. I think it's safer to leave the baby in it when he gets older na.

hi mommies,

This is my story. I have a turning - one year old son (bday 3 weeks from now) who from the day if birth until today manage to sleep in the wooden crib during night times and belive me, it was not a problem with us. he was always sleeping soundly :) the crib was beside our bed. during daytime, he has a playpen at our living room, that is where he plays and naps (9-11am and 2-3pm). this is his sleeping routine.

Now, this is my dilemma...I am now 5 months pregnant (yes, again) and it a baby girl this time! My son will be 1 and 4 months when I will give birth this september. We also intend to have the new baby sleep in the crib but i dont know what to buy...will it be a wooden crib again or do i know get a graco play yard? Im confused... If i get a wooden crib again, it'll be 2 cribs in my bedroom and the space wont be nice if its a graco play yard, it cna be foldable and i can bring it in the living room for nap time of the baby girl...

Can you please advise me?

Thanks mommies!

Hi SexyLady, my friend is due to give birth to her 2nd child and her panganay is only 16 months old and used to sleep in a crib too. They've moved the panganay to a mattress on the floor. I think if you don't want to do this, getting a play yard would be easier since as you said you can move it from room to room.

I'm wondering if they sell co-sleepers in the Philippines like this one (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2401892&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255957&origkw=cosleeper&kw=cosleeper&parentPage=search)?

It's pretty convenient because for one, it's small. Even if you have a crib in your room, this one will hardly take up any space, so you can have both crib and playpen.

Second, you are supposed to put it right beside your bed, so that baby can sleep right beside you without being on your bed (one side can be rolled down or put up). It's much safer (you won't smother the baby), and yet convenient, especially if you're breastfeeding (you can just "whip it out" when baby cries - haha).

Third, it's small, foldable and therefore, mobile. During the day, you can move it to the living room or wherever so that baby can be closer to where the action is.

I think the main disadvantage would be the fact that it's rather pricey. Mas mahal pa kaysa sa pack n play ng Graco.

Hi sexyladyyy, i guess you haven't considered co-sleeping with your 1st born yet. Anyway, I agree with Tina's suggestion. Why not move him to a mattress on the floor and let the new baby use the wooden crib.

I also have a 16mos old baby boy and am due with my baby girl any time now. Just like you, my baby used to sleep in his wooden crib from birth to 6 mos while the playpen was used for day naps and play. Now he co sleeps with us at night and he no longer uses the wooden crib and playpen. He prefers to explore all corners of the house kasi and we do let him naman.

Just a thought, baka lang when your 1st born reaches 1, he wouldn't like being confined in his playpen na rin. Then maybe, you just have to get him a toddler mattress and leave the playpen for baby girl to use.

Hi laineybogz!my baby's stroller/carrier/car seat is graco.bought it in babyco. around 16500 and my baby's crib is graco also around 10k.i'm a very practical person but i invest on things that are worth investing on.kesa naman bibili ka ng mura tapos sira agad or hindi safe si baby(like sa car seat) edi invest kana.at least you're sure na pangmatagalan and pwede pang i-hand me down sa kapatid or cousins.

for carseats, i'd say shop before the baby is born para meron na. i know that sa Pilipinas it's not required by the law for the baby to have a carseat upon leaving the hospital but since gagamit ka na din lang ng carseat, i think that it's better na you do it right sa umpisa pa lang.

^ yup, i agree. you can shop even before baby is born. it's good na masanay sya sa car seat. my son, 2 months pa lang, everytime we go out (to the hospital, pedia checkup, to see friends, etc), dun sya nakasakay. he doesn't get fussy since he knows na that's his place. and he's safe there. (compared to some na nakakalong lang, malikot, tumatayo sa car, etc. delikado eh.) sa car seat nga lang, minsan naiinis sya pag sobrang traffic at wala syang nakikita. so i bring along a lot of toys to amuse him :D

Ok din *** stroller ng enfant, mas mura, parang baby first din at madami ka colors pagpipilian, unlike sa baby first, usually sa sm, blue at khaki nalang available.

Hello!

We have a 4 in 1 convertible crib, playyard and armreach co-sleeper. My son has his own room, and andoon yon crib niya. First, we were planning na matulog siya sa room namin sa playard, but we are not happy don sa matress ng playard. We decided na bumili ng co-sleeper :) . Sa gabi, sa co-sleeper siya natutulog at sa umaga sa crib siya. Hubby and I loves our co-sleeper- best buy ever :bungi:

May kasama naman bassinet un kaso up to 15lbs nga lang. Ako feel ko tong playard $59.99 lang kaya lang hassle magpa package e kala ko makakauwi husband ko on my due date HMP di pala, baka bili na lang ako ng crib tutal plan ko na sa tabi ko sleep si baby sa gabi and crib na lang during the day habang ang nanay nya nag iinternet hahaha

rock_faerie: sis, are u planning to buy a traditional wooden crib or crib/playpen? i bought this really nice 24x42 wooden crib sa a. mabini (where u can find sobrang daming furniture stores and warehouses) at 1650pesos lang. u can adjust the crib "floor" (hehe how do u call it ba?) 4 times, and both the left and right sides of the crib can be lowered using ur foot (so convenient lalo na when ure trying to put baby down). i had it repolished para super kinis and varnished w/ valspar (plus TLC kasi a family friend offered to do this). now, it looks like ive bought it from a mall. diba super mahal ng wooden cribs sa malls? i saw almost the same crib there and it costs 4-5k. i also believe na matibay *** crib kasi it came from a furniture shop mismo. my friend bought a crib there once and he has used it for his 3 kids na.

about carseat.. the earlier the better to buy this... para safe ang baby sa car... mas ok ang carseat kesa kandong mo lang ang baby... i got my baby carseat/carrier stroller from ebay... it is a graco literider... it cost about 14k sa malls, but i got it for 5700 only...

swerte lang ako kasi *** seller just came back from us... so matagal nila hindi nagamit *** stroller... so pagbalik nila hindi na kasya *** 5yr old kid nila... kaya parang bago pa din...

about walker... wag ka muna bumili... more or less your pedia will advice you not to buy... sabi ng pedia ng baby ko it doesn't really help baby to walk, because it doesn't develop the right muscle your baby needs to walk (daw ha... sabi lang ng pedia ng baby ko...)

so happy shopping...

it took us forever to find the stroller we really like and want!

We used Graco Snap N Go for 3 months.

http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/09/00/14/00/0009001400803_215X215.jpg

We then started using a hand me down stroller from my aunt- Graco. Didn't like it. It was kinda hard to steer.

We bought Peg Perego Pliko. My son hated the plastic that holds the harness. We returned it the same day.

http://images.rightstart.com/global/images/thumbnail/6275.jpg

We then got Inglesina Zippy! We loved it until it started squeeking after a week. We also returned it. We were so disappointed. We loved the one hand closing feature. It pushes like a dream!

http://www.livingincomfort.com/images/medium/bk27212-pic.jpg

We then got Britax Preview. The seat don't fully sit up! Returned it the next day.

http://www.elitecarseats.com/assets/product_images/200/102164CAMBRIDGE.jpg

Also, we received Chicco CT (?) from our baby shower- returned it.

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/41jwIRQyFkL._SX315_SY375_.jpg

We tried sooo many strollers and considered some of them. We really like the bugaboo, but couldn't justify spending $900+ on one.

Drum roll please . . .
We bought a year old bugaboo chameleon for $450- boooyah! will post pix later!

If I'm not mistaken, the Graco Snugride has a weight limit of 22lb.
There should also be at least one inch of shell above the baby's head. It's hard to gauge hanggang ilang months a baby will use a bucket car seat because some babies are big and some are small. So the weight and length/height limits should be followed. If the baby's measurements exceed EITHER the length or weight limits, the baby can't use the carseat anymore.

Worth it naman bilhin yung carseat if you have plans of having another baby in the future.

Had stroller Graco brand with car seat, got the 'generic' color grey with a bit of brown so that miski whatever gender pwede. Came in handy for my 2 daughters, then sold it when they got older. Car seat is important especially for infants because yayas can't handle infants properly if meron aksindente. Don't take a chance.

try ashworthy, eto yung unang stroller na anak ko pati walker ganun din na brand. Sa price pang beginner na, got the stroller at around 4k (8k yun pero sale sa robinson ng 50%) so good buy na, yung walker i bought it when he's already 2 yrs old mura lang nasa 1.5k. About the crib, niregalo ng parents ko kasi graco kaya maganda talaga pero kung affordability pwede na din ashworthy. Madami na din magagandang brands ngayon na affordable but one thing i check is the net around it, yung mga mumurahin kasi they use "lambat" na white as in panghuli ng isda? na pwedeng magasgasan yung baby mo pag kumilos kilos. So pag ok yung net at tahi pwede na yun. Happy shopping!!! Nga pala bring your kid para matry nya yung stroller.

Thanks for the suggestions. Worth it ba yung ganung kamahal na stroller?

My baby is 1.5 months old already and my hubby and I are deciding on what brand of stroller to buy.

Can anyone give his/her opinion and/or experience regarding Chicco, Graco and Maclaren?

Yung isang stroller ng anak ko Graco

I like it kasi meron syang car seat n nakasama aside sa stroller. Tapos very durable. Tsaka it really occupy too much space sa trunk. It can still support his weight.

Yung MaClaren super lightweight at matibay!

Kung ako papipiliin Maclaren na lang kasi light weight sya. at D pa masyado nag ooccupy ng malaking space. At madaling buhatin so kahit maliit ako no sweat talaga.

Ngayon mas ginagamit na namin ang Maclaren kesa sa Graco kung una pa lang binili namin ang Maclaren edi mas nakatipid kami. D naman nagkakalayo sa price.

doumyugi, thanks.

Tumingin kami ng strollers sa Rustan's and ang nagustuhan ni hubby is the Chicco Simplicity stroller worth 8K. Sa Maclaren, ang cheapest nila is 12K tapos pang 3 months and above lang. Di pwede newborn and hindi fully reclined so di makakahiga ang baby. Yung pang newborn naman eh masyadong mahal. Pinakamura na ang 18K.

on stroller: nasa inyo decision alin brand depende sa features na gusto ninyo. ang daming choices sa strollers ngayon! yung nabili ko combi na 3-reclining position na puwede full flat for newborn at saka reversible handle, kaso ang con ay maliit ang bottom basket at medyo di kaya one-hand ma-fold back, saka di siya ganun kagaan. anyway, will know if ok siya when andito na si baby.

on crib: sa old fashioned wooden pa rin ako, feeling ko kasi mas sturdy at heavy duty.
