You made the right decision in deciding to learn a foreign language!

Mastery of a foreign language, particularly Spanish, places you a notch higher the other agents in terms of pay and prestige. You will be able to command a salary much higher than a TL or QA for a regular English account. Aside from the pay, knowing a language is also a lifelong hobby that increases your circle of friends.

You must invest in learning the language. Don't drop out after a few beginner levels otherwise it will just be a waste of your time and money. Focus on finishing the advanced-superior levels as early as starting from level 1. It took me three years, but believe me, it was three years well spent!

Look at it this way. You would pay P2900 per level for an extensive Saturday class. P2,900 x 18 levels = P52,200. That would be the equivalent of 2.5 months pay as a multilingual specialist (depending on your fluency). You got to realize your investment right? That would be money and time well spent!

@ zeratul: how many hours ba each level? Do they hold classes on weekdays. parang makakalimutan lang ata kung every sat lang. In those 3yrs you spent, continuous ka talaga nag aral? wow sipag.

how about for french , korean or mandarin ? any schools/centers anybody can recommend? tnx!

last june pa nagstart class namin.. for the second batch, i think sept meron kasi sept end namin eh.

pupunta lang sa UP european language faculty, mag ffill up ng reg form, magbabayad ng tuition fee..

for the classes naman, every sat kami tapos we chose morning sched so 9am-12noon kami. total of 30 hours so 10 saturdays lahat.
meron ding afternoon sched - 2pm-5pm.

alam ko pwede sila mag start ng class as long as min of 10 students ang nag apply. max of 15-20.

I think you would agree with me that the Spanish language is making a come back in the Philippine society today. I am one of those people who decided to learn Spanish as a third language. However I have noticed that it is very difficult to be conversational in Spanish when you don't have anybody to talk to.

I know many of us Pinoy Spanish learners encounter this problem. And so I have created an Online Spanish Conversation Group named ESPANIERO.

Right now ESPANIERO has only a few members. I am asking for your support in thriving this website and making it the number one destination of Pinoys learning the Spanish language.

Please support ESPANIERO by logging in at http://www.espaniero.com and registering your own account. After registering, please post some topics or reply to existing ones to make the Espaniero Spanish conversation group an active one.

Muchas Gracias y vaya con Dios.

Yeah, kasi naman you'll be 20+ in a class. I studied there before pero di ko na tinapos kasi naman nakakawalang gana. Besides, there are 40 levels all in all.
I took up Spanish and Mandarin sa The Bridge Language Institute (http://bridgelanguagecenter.com) and medyo masaya dun. We're only 5 in a class kaya tutok na tutok.
Try niyo dun... http://bridgelanguagecenter.com

Well, it's so nice of you to learn a new language. And Spanish is a good choice. Sobrang in demand sa mga call centers and its easier to learn than any other language. Sa Instituto Cervantes ka lang mag-enroll. Their curriculum is based on a certain framework na sinet yata ng EU. At yung DELE certificate nila is recognized worldwide.

And please never sa BRIDGE! Masyadong mahal. At alright, native magtuturo sayo kaya lang hindi siya trained to be a teacher talaga. I went there to take a refresher course for French when I was hired as a French CSR in a call center in Makati. Grabe tlaga yung teacher ko. Isa siyang black African guy na nagfefrench. Which by the way siya din nagassess ng french ko para sa nasabing call center. Very unethical. First, late dumating. So yung binayad mo useless. Wala kang natutunan. So wag dun.

700 hours ata to finish all the levels.

Level 2 ako nun as far as I can remember and 5 lang kami sa class din. So it turns out na mas mura pa rin sa IC. At pag morning, fresh pa ang teachers :D Masipag pa magturo. UP is ok din pala kasi IC curriculum din ginagamit nila. Pero every Saturday lang kasi. Matagal bago matuto.

actually almost same price lang sa UP Diliman at sa Instituto Cervantes. Check their website and you will know na *** 30 hours ng Cervantes is at Php 2,670 tapos u can choose your schedule may every Sat lang, 2x a week at 3x a week. At least kung gusto mo mabilis matuto at matapos pwede ka mag class ng 3x a week. sa UP 2,800 tas every Sat lang so it would really take you 10 Saturdays mashadong matagal.

Not sure how they came up with 7k as tuition fee. :)

imposible na 7k ang tuition sa instituto! haha...

The problem with instituto lalo na pag tumataas level mo eh may possibility na madissolve *** pag d kayo umabot ng 10. and *** every sat na sched sobrang bihira lang niyan kasi pag dating ng level 3 umaayaw na yang mga yan o d kaya lumilipat sa 2x a week na sched. un lang ang setback. pero the best to! Dahil dito limpak limpak swldo ko ***** hahaha!

Muchas gracias Instituto! haha

Sorry, medyo slightly off topic.

Anyone interested in taking level 4 Spanish classes at IC this May? 2 1/2 weeks, starting May 14 up to May 29. 1st week is two meetings, the rest 4x a week (tue to fri). 5:30 - 8:30 pm. We need 4-5 more people to complete the class.

Please me know. As some of the posters mentioned, need a minimum of 10 people to a class. Or you can call IC (Isabel) to tell them that you're interested.

Now medyo on topic, classes at IC are very good. Currently the tuition is 2670, but I believe they'll be increasing that to 2900 plus next month (kaya sumama na kayo this summer, he he he). As to the number of students, they set the maximum to 20 people. Any thing more than that and they divide it into 2 classes. Although I did have a class where we were 22 initially, but eventually went down to around 16. Regardless of the number, the teachers make sure that each student is given enough attention.

For free training ng languages (e.g. spanish, nihonggo, mandarin, korean, etc) meron ang tesda. Right now, nagtetake ako ng spanish class and yung professor namin super galing. She can speak 7 languages (spanish, italian, french, german, etc). 100 hours of free training tapos may allowance ka pa every friday. 4hrs a day, 5 days a week ang training namin. may morning/afternoon session so kung may work ka, pwedeng icompromise. And ggraduate na kami dis coming may 29, by the way.

You dont need to pay anything. You just need to complete some requirements, that's all. Pag grumaduate ka, level 4 ka na kaagad.
