Job Openings sa Ad Agencies, bakit bihira makita?

Hi guys, pansin ko lang, parang bihira makakakita ng openings sa Ad Agencies. I only get them from emails sa egroups but rarely sa mga job sites.

Ganito ba talaga culture sa Ad Agencies? Referrals lang talaga mostly?

They also want to test your persistence and resourcefulness. If the openings are not advertised and you are still able to find them, maybe you have the qualities they seek.

baka naman tamad HR nila or wala sila budget for recruitment, un *** naisip ko.

advertising recruitment is usually on a referral basis. we have our HRs but they function mostly on compensation and benefits, and office administration.

you can walk in and submit your CV if you're a fresh grad who wishes to work in advertising.

i had an interview this afternoon with an ad agency. they're purely print and graphics. no ATLs. the position was "Design Manager" commonly known as AE. i was an AE with another ad agency not until i resigned last September.

nagulat nga ako. i never applied naman doon. the HR said, she just went through jobstreet and looked for "qualifed" applicants. na intimidate ako sa managing director who interviewed me. french siya, fashionista! may accent, mukhang socialite at cultured na cultured. maganda! parang siyang artista sa mga art films. male dominated yung company. 4 lang ata na babae nakita ko.

maliit lang *** company, 20 lang daw sila. medyo off ako sa small sized companies. bosses tend to over micromanage. umaga hapon ang mga meeting. pabago bago ang directions. mabilis ang mga deadlines. pabago bago ng timetable. well, sa experience ko yan with 2 companies na 20+, ganun talaga. tapos puti ang boss. isa pang issue ko. been with 2 bosses na puti, medyo mahirap sila pakisamahan. hindi sila fun. dami ko bang issues? sorry ha.

i must have made a good impression since the managing director hired me on the spot and wanted me to start tom. sabi ko, il decide by fri. sabi niya baket? sabi ko, im not sure kung gusto ko i give up yung "lack of exposure" sa TV commercials na hindi kinacater ng agency nila kasi puro nga lang sila graphics.

big time ang accounts nila. tyou'll be rubbing elbows and conducting presentations to the who's who. natawa nga ako sa comment ng managing director when she said, "we are looking at collaborating with SM". "we want to tell the market na we dont just cater to the high end, we can also cater the masses. huh? masa pala ang SM? :D

tom, i have 2 interviews from 2 companies and another one sa friday. hopefully, makakahanap din ako nung swak sa akin.

considered naman talagang masa ang SM, yung mga matatawag na high-end would be Rustan's, Ayala Malls at Shangri-La.

Ikaw talaga ang magmamagaling lalo na't walang contact. I emailed the boss sa McCann Erickson, but I learned walang opening at the moment. I was advised to contact them again in January. By which time I will have said yes to another company who wants to hire me.

Just google their websites and send out/email your resume. If they like you, they'll contact you. :)

prolly not the best time to do it.... they go there to mingle and have fun.... siguro joining the event would make you appear serious about the job... but chances are, you might also be seen as a gatecrasher.... *** din.... mga ad people pa naman maaarte... hahaha!
