I just wanted to ask any knowledgeable PExers here: is it necessary to get registered with the POEA if you're living and working abroad, even if you're working as your own boss?

I have my own business, duly-registered with the Korean authorities, and as such I don't have any work contract. I am my own boss, so to speak. Is it necessary for me to get POEA registration?

I'm asking because I don't want to be hassled by any immigration people at the airport when I fly back to Korea. If anyone knows the definitive answer to my situation, please do let me know. Thanks! :)

well... you're a businessman, not an employee- no need to register :)

yun nga lang- you'll always be considered as a tourist/business traveller in your trips, no OFW benefits for you like no terminal fee charges, travel tax charges- etc. :)

and, parati kang hahanapan ng return ticket ng authorities.

It depends on what is the status of your Korean Visa. If you have a tourist or business visa, then no worries, If you have any kind of residence or work permit, they will hassle you at the airport.

Well, I do have a multiple re-entry visa. But how can they legally hassle me, though? I mean, I really don't even have a contract with myself. Hmmmm.... I just don't want the hassle of having to go to the POEA. I don't really care about any of the benefits. I'm more worried about my time.

Thanks for answering, folks. :)
