In my 7 years of work experience with 4 companies, I went through some phone interviews. I find it pretty similar to face to face interviews(you just dont see your interviewer).

Since its a phone interview better have it in a quiet place and where you can get a good signal(if its through cellphone). Usually its preliminary interviews done by HR officers, so the usual questions about work experience, education, salary expectations and other info will be asked.

Some HR people verify what you have written in your resume(sometimes I find it stupid that they ask every detail in my resume, total waste of time).

Anyway just sound confident(since they cant see you) and answer their questions straight and simple.

share some of your experience with that phone interview .. i had one that was pre-empted, the employer didn't call instead they made me meet with them face to face, so I really didn't have that chance to partake on a phone interview.

eveningdew, Are you on the IT line of business?

mas maganda kung mag isa ka lang, kung may mannerism ko, ok lang yun, d naman nakikita eh. kung feel mo na para kang nagtatalumpati, nakatayo, ok lang din. when a headhunter called me, i used a headset para mas comfortable ako. and i had my resume and notes with me.

and lastly be honest. :)

Do we have a place here in Manila where applicants who don't have
a landline phone can go to receive phone interviews? (e.g. from
employers abroad) Meron bang ganun sa PLDT offices?

I think cellphones should suffice for the lack of any landline.

Employers abroad wont bother calling you thru your cellphone.

I totally disagree on this, I had phone interviews from employers abroad and most of them were done using my cellphone. It all depends on the employer. If you dont have a landline then cellphone is the next best option, or skype.

they're probably not worth it

alternately, nagkalat ang mga wireless landlines these days.

you might want to try maintaining those.

good luck *okay*

this ain't totally true....probably, it depends on the kind of employer and their needs....

I am already here at Singapore and all of my interviews by my Singapore-based employer were done via phone.....*okay*

I had a few phone interviews before... one lasted for almost an hour.

It's just the same as a personal interview.
