I'm having a hard time choosing. Help!

Both have good job offers but I can't decide which to accept. They say that P&G's working environment is kind of stressful but with very good benefits and compensation while Soluziona's is lax but getting a raise is quite hard.

I'm looking for a long term career and a company that has opportunities for growth.

Well, what do you guys have to share?????

Thanks.

Personally, P&G speaks volumes when it comes to reputation. Benefits are topnotch as well.

Pero P&G will make sure that they'll be getting their money's worth in the salaries their employees are getting.

BTW, ano ba ang field mo?

IT ako...

kung ako tatanungin mo mas okay ang P&G kasi it's a reputable company, not to mention that it's a Fortune 500 company. maganda pa sa resume mo yan. working for a company like P&G will be a huge advantage especially if you're applying for a job abroad. oo, stressful doon but it will help you in the long run when you take on more challenging/stressful projects. think long term my friend. maswerte ka may chance kang magtrabaho sa P&G. please don't waste the opportunity. all the best and God bless!

I'm assuming that both offers are for IT positions, and that Soluziona's offer is for a job as an IT consultant.

I think Soluziona is a better choice if your career priority is to learn how to become a better leader and problem solver. They'll make you work in small teams for different clients in different industries, which will give you a better understanding of how different businesses work. One day, you could be working on a project for a financial services company. On another day, it could be for a utilities company and so forth.

P&G is a better choice if you're more comfortable working for a larger company with a bigger corporate support infrastructure that can offer a wider range of fringe benefits ranging from formal HR career monitoring to corporate gym memberships and fancy Christmas parties.

It all depends on what your priorities are.

One thing that's bothering me about Soluziona is that I might get stuck in Meralco (that's where I am being deployed). The thing 'bout different projects and all that seems to have a small chance of happening because the project that I'll be assigned to in Meralco is sort of a permanent team. Meaning I'd be doing the same thing until I resign.

About P&G, they say that the work is more dynamic and all that.

Geez, I have until today to decide on this matter.

It depends on your preferences. If it were me deciding for myself, I'd choose a consulting firm like Soluziona for a first job over a corporation. A consulting firm would generally offer more opportunities for younger people to make a more direct contribution to the project, assume greater responsibilities and get promoted faster. It is also easier of managers to track and measure the performance of junior people in consulting firms than in corporations, thereby lessening (but not eliminating) the burden of office politics. You work in smaller teams, so you're more likely to stand out.

But that's just me. Other people would have their own valid reasons for wanting to work for a corporation like P&G instead.

^ Yeah, that's what I think about Soluziona too. But to get stuck in Meralco? And I was thinking that the managers there are young too, meaning that it is not that easy to get promoted. Well unless, they resign. Right?

Have you had any feedbacks from employees from both companies?

Thanks a lot for giving me tips!!!!

As it is with most consulting firms, managers tend to be younger for a combination of reasons - It is easier to track and measure performance, so it is also easier to stand out. The number of opportunities to lead teams grows proportionally with the number of clients the firm can win. Employee turnover is faster because consultants are rigorously trained in problem-solving, project management and delivering to a client's high standards and expectations, which makes them attractive to other companies looking to pirate talented people. Generally speaking, a stint in consulting and professional services (SGV, McKinsey, Sycip Law, Andersen Consulting, Multinational Investment Bancorp, etc.) puts a young professional's career on the fast track.

I know a fair number of people who joined Soluziona when it first opened shop in the Philippines under the name "Iberpacific". All of them have moved on to senior management positions both within and outside of the IT industry (although most stayed in the firm for at least 5 years).

I wouldn't worry about the Soluziona managers being young today. They were also young back in the old days, and they remain young because they get promoted and pirated quickly. The ones that you see now will be gone in no time, and you'll be in a good position to take their place until you yourself find better opportunities elsewhere.

^ Now that's convincing. I'd keep that in mind when deciding later. Thanks a lot!

How bout PG? Have you had any feedbacks from employees, even the former ones?

My sister in law works for P&G IT. P&G is good in terms of job stability, benefits and "freebees" like givaways, Christmas parties (P&G has one of the best corporate parties in the Philippines), etc. She's looking to settle down soon so the job suits her.

I used to work in Soluziona (and stayed there for quite some time actually).

Yes, the managers are young but that doesn't mean you wouldn't get promoted (or get a raise). Performance is evaluated yearly and so your salary is adjusted yearly as well depending on it. Promotions come with experience and even in Meralco assignments you will find young team leaders and Project Managers bec. they distinguished themselves as good workers.

Can't say much about P&G other than it is an established company with a proven reputation. But given that a lot of the IT work is outsourced to HP, I'm not sure what career path you would have at P&G's IT. (If you were applying for a marketing position, I would have to say P&G hands down though)

Hey Anarion, what job did you actually pursue?

I am a former intern from P&G. I've also had an IT offer around December of last year. Kaso IDS suddenly did not continue its hiring kasi, as HR says, nag "overhire" daw sila.

Just wondering if me available slots pa ulit ngayon. Even if not just in IT. Tsaka may mga kasama ka bang interns na na-hire? Kakalungkot lang. Parang nai-santabi ata ang mga interns.

Anyway, I also took an exam in Soluziona. Just waiting for the results...

Dear I am an IT consultant as well.

I thinik choosing soluziona is a better choice.

Because being a consultant will give a better opportunity for u than being an IT professional tied up with a big company.
Now about the meralco thing, sooner or later soluziona will pull you out for other project.

Go with P&G. Can't go wrong.
