Hi everyone! Hihingi lang po sana ako ng advice. Kasi ganito po yun, actually nasa Qatar po ako ngayon for almost three months na but unfortunately hindi pa rin po ako makahanap ng work kung san hindi po ako lugi at makakatulong po ako sa family ko. I consider myself fortunate kasi po I am here with my dad and I am under father's sponsorship. I am an IT graduate but doesn't have enough experience that's why nahihirapan akong kumuha ng work sa IT company.I-add pa iyong qatarization law nila which means dapat nilang iprio ang qatari bago ang expats.

One night my dad talked to me and asked if anong plan ko since nahihirapan akong maghanap ng work dito. He is not convince na applying in a different industry would help me help our family sa mga gastusin. Yung mga sweldo kasi na nakukuha ko lugi talaga, transpo pa lang. He said ano daw ang plano ko. Sabi nia if I'll decide to go back in the Philippines, wag ko daw isipin yung visa.

If u were in my shoe guys, what will be your decision? Thanks po sa mga magaadvice!!*okay*

i think 3 months is long enough of a time span of unemployment to make you seriously reconsider staying in Qatar to look for employment.

But to help you in making that choice I give you a few things to look over in order to make a decision:

1. What was your intention in going to Qatar for employment? As you said, the pay wasn't even enough to support your own living. Assuming that kind of a pay is the norm in Qatar, then I don't think it would be advisable to continue looking for work in there.

2. Would it be worth it to shift into another career at this early stage of your life? Would a shift help you in your long-term goals or will it only satisfy immediate ones? Are you driven enough to shift into another industry?

3. Which IT market has better compensation? Philippines or Qatar? Which would provide you with a better upstart entry-level knowledge and experience needed to pursue a better position in the future?

With that I hope you can make a better decision based on your circumstances. And one last advice, do not be burdened by the thought that "sasayanging ko lang" ang trip mo to Qatar. What will be more sayang is the time you spend in indecision.

Good luck! :)

^^ very well said. Ganun din ang advice ko sayo. Think about it. Masyado nang mahaba ng three months para sa paghahanap mo. If wala jan ang swerte mo why stay di ba? :)

What position are you applying for? Baka naman sobrang taas ang tingin mo sa marketability mo. Kung ako ikaw I will apply for any work available and then when I'm making money, that's when I'll apply for higher level jobs. A lot of newly grads are too naive to realize the real world wants someone with a diploma AND work experience. That's why college kids in the US and Europe work part-time jobs while in college. Sa pinas naman hindi uso ito kaya the only things that's in their diploma is school. Blanko naman pag dating sa work experience.

Like it or not, companies prefer college grads with 6 months working experience than just a simple college grad. Even 6 months working in Chow King is still credible to them.

Lower your expectation and get any job. Once you build up your resume then apply for the work you want.

my opinion.. hanap ka ng IT related work sa pinas and build your credentials. get some experience. after that makakahanap ka rin ng work in other countries. mas marketable ka pa.
