Hello! I would also like to do volunteer work, particularly one that involves children. HOM seems like a good idea--I'll take a look at the website later.

Actually, I'd like to work at CRIBS in Marikina. Has anybody been there? Paano ba mag-volunteer doon?
:)

I was able to volunteer there during our community service in college. Just try to call them 681-5921; 647-1329 and ask if they accept volunteers.

hi jp (and others interested)! if you're still looking for some volunteer activities, sama ka...i've organized a group that regularly tutors former street kids living in Pangarap Foundation (shelter for boys). Sundays, 1-3 pm. (It's not a formal group ha.)

PM me for those interested. Voluntary sya, so you can come whenever you're free. (However, syempre it's better if an individual can commit himself/herself to the deed.) Salamat!

Try to call East Avenue Medical Center. They are open for volunteer nurses. You just need to pass a xerox copy of your prc license and board rating. Here's the number, if in case you don't have, 928-06-11 loc. 311 .. this is the local number of nursing training office. Gudluck.

hi sxy shandy!
we recruit professionals na willing to share time & knowledge for free. for one to qualify as volunteer naman: at least 7 years working experience/industry exposure. ex: a CPA

tapos what we do is match a volunteer to 1 or several small businesses (that we screen & diagnose na). ang gagawin ng volunteer kc is advising. in short, business consultancy - pero voluntary ito.

ex: volunteer CPA explaining the value of accountancy & devising appropriate bookkeeping for the client.

not all volunteers though eh me gagawin agad, until matched- nasa roster lang sila. but me mga activities & trainings that are given naman for the volunteers.

hope i explained it well. let me know pag me tanong ka

gma7 meron silang mga volunteer activities.. try mo inquire. theres always gk and habitat for humanity. ewan ko lang kung ok pa sa parents nyo ang ganun kasi magtatayo ng bahay yun eh. hehe.. tapos haribon does tree planting etc as well..

ano ba balak nilang field kung saan sila mag volunteer?

Peeps, if you're into mountainerring and at the same time would like to do so for a cause, this org has such an activity for you. There are 2 ways to help:

1. Donate P300 for the school supplies
2. Be a volunteer to personally deliver the goods.

Here is their website: http://bbbs.freehostia.com/

Let's all help! :D

Since you have hands-on exposure with them already, can you say that they're not particular with one's religion?
I am an atheist and this might pose a problem.
There was an org I joined and I was asked to invoke their god through prayer. It was very uncomforable.

hmmm.... i don't exactly remember if there was any prayer involved during the orientation or during the project but i'm sure even if there was one, it's not one of those over the top things... just keep silent during their prayer and don't let it bother you ;)

Hands on Manila is a volunteer network. They orient you to all affiliated NGO's and existing programs for each. You decide which organization you want to be involved with and you don't need to commit to a certain time of involvement with HOM nor with its partners. You just need to call HOM or the volunteer-in-charge whenever you find yourself available to join the activity.

I have been an HOM volunteer for the past 5 years and every minute spent has been worthwhile.

Let me just post the invite here. thanks!

Dear Friends,

The PBSP Enterprise Development Forum Series 2009 and Launching of the Business Advisory Program Casebook will be held on July 30, 2009, 1:00-5:00PM, at Crown Regency Hotel, Arnaiz Avenue, Makati City.

We’ve invited a successful entrepreneur, Dr. Cecilio K. Pedro, to share his insights and experiences in building the business into becoming one of the most admired and respected companies in Asia. The discussions of the research study on the effects of the crisis to your business and the opportunities they present is really interesting. There will also be an interaction among MSMEs, banks and microfinance institutions, government agencies and other business development service providers.

Organized by PBSP’s Enterprise Development Group, the Forum aims to be a common venue for learning and sharing, business-to-business (B2B) networking, and promotion among MSMEs, financial institutions, business development service providers, and other partners of PBSP.

The registration fee, including snacks and materials, is only P200 per person to be paid upon registration. Attached is the program for your reference.

Please come and join us. Kindly fill-out the portion below and fax to (02) 527-3751 or call Tina Borbe at 527-7741 to 48 loc. 105/110 for your confirmation.

Be a Volunteer

One key to PNRC’s efficiency is its rich volunteer resources made up of two distinct groups - the administrative volunteers, i.e. Board of Governors and Board of Directors and the direct service volunteers.

At national level, the Board of Governors is the governing or policymaking body. In the chapters, the Board of Directors is the counterpart of the Board of Governors.

In general, these volunteer leaders are either elected or selected to the Board. They are provided the necessary orientation on all facets of Red Cross work by the Volunteer Service, thereby enhancing their effectiveness.
