Do you have a boss who always uses the term "due yesterday" (or something similar) tapos ngayon niya lang binigay sayo ang gagawin. Sometimes, di mo naman talaga technically trabaho yun. What's your take on this? Hehehe.

epal... ibig sabihin, di niya alam i manage ang resources niya
isa pa sa mga favourite terms ng mga epal na amo:
1) 'This project requires extra effort" (in short- work OT and weekends)
2) "Take this as a challenge" (wala siyang sagot na iba)
3) "You are not working for me, you are working for the client" (hugas kamay)

Overbearing bosses, like clients, exist for one reason: To test our faith in God.

I had a boss like that. French *******. Did not realize that certain projects cannot possibly be accomplished within his unreasonable time frame. Overbearing SOB. I was so glad when my contract was over. I couldn't stand him. The ******* actually made me do 3 more extra pieces of detailed graphics work on the last day of my contract. And he said it was due yesterday. My professionalism (and gritting of my teeth) made me do it instead of chucking it in his face. I did not want the ******* to give me a bad evaluation report on that basis especially since I am still keen on doing more consulting work for ADB. I actually stayed until 9pm just to get his last minute work done. I heard several of his team members quit quite recently, they couldn't stand him anymore.

Indian bosses are the worst... rude, overbearing- barking demands left and right.
Setting BS goals, wanting things to be done "queekly" :glee:
They talk a lot, but do very little, except act important and all knowing.

I did not have any bosses like that...yet. But I did have experienced working with clients as described above.

Yes, clients are very demanding when it comes to turn-around time. "Due yesterday" becomes an SOP. That's one of the things you need to consider if you want to work for a professional services company like law firms and investment banks. Working hours there are very grueling.

^^The construction industry is very notorious for such practices that it becomes a norm.

And it sometimes pays well to put up with unreasonable clients. :D

^^Yeah. We usually have compensation for such situations which we call as performance bonus from clients. This extra compensation are usually packaged in the bid contract for performing exemplary service who are not afraid to go for the extra mile.

Mmm I'm a little bigoted when it comes to Indians, yeah.
They CAN be "all that".

for me, "Due Yesterday" terminology means extreme proactivity. Don't wait for your boss to assign you a certain job. alamin mo na yun ahead of him/her then tsaka mo ipresent yung idea mo.
This days, lalo na sa IT, there is no such thing as "..di ko naman linya yang trabaho eh...".

well it depends... "proactiveness" is a a great quality, pero in line of work, it's still subjective... *okay*
