I am gearing towards tourism and travel but i took up Business Management in College. I choose this because it is not limiting not like i get a course like Tourism or Masscom.

My course took me to the following career
1. Management Trainee then Manager - retail outlet in the mall.
2. Credit Authorization - in the 3rd largest bank in the 90's
3. Ground steward/ticketing - in a local airline
4. Banquet Waiter/ staff in a 5 star bay area hotel
5.Purchaser in an upscale club in Makati
6. Customer Service Staff in a marketing firm
7. HRD senior staff in a marketing firm
Whewww ang dami!
All in all i think i made the right decision because i have tasted a lot of industries and if you match what they want, i think your course will not limit you. These thread is also for those new grads who would learn the different career paths to take after graduation.
Pls post your career paths thanks:)

Why didn't you start your own business? Surely, you have the academic knowledge on how to manage your own.

Actually I am still in business up to now - kaya lang it can not support me and i enjoy the corporate world too. I do my business 2 times a month only kaya i still need to work and i do have lots of free time in my hands.

The aim of this thread also is to gauge or answer the question- are we using what we learned in school in the real world? Another is - after taking such a course? What jobs are there for me? Ako mismo im really into travel but i think tourism will box me in just one career and i can learn thru experience and did while working in an airline company and working in a hotel and eventually in a bar - taking hrm never crossed my mind though but somehow i was able to penetrate it.

ako naman, more on business, research and development, and mathematics ang gusto ko. when i entered college, my course was ECE. but I did not like electronics so I shifted to IE. so the three interests that I am into are in this program. Right now I am a purchasing officer in a leading QSR company. I had several job offers when I graduated, but I chose to develop my supply chain mgmt skills. I am still here and growing..
