Question, why do people working in the call centers of Citibank and HSBC say that they are a banker? I believe these call centers are separate and independent from the actual banks and vice versa. So in short, they don't work for the bank. They merely treat the bank as a client, whether exclusive or not. So why say they are bankers NOT /bpocall center employees or agents? What gives? :bashful:

banker naman sila kasi it's the same thing as if they are transacting inside a banking establishment. the reason why banking clients prefer to call and do transactions over the phone coz they have a lot of things to do aside from going inside a bank customers would like to maximize their time especially in the united states because they are working and have no time to go inside a bank. time is gold.

I think PHONE BANKER is the right job title for these peeps who work in HSBC, Citigroup, JP MOrgan call centers.

Ang alam ko, as for HSBC, meron kasing customer service department *** bank nila dito sa pinas. Their office is at The Fort. Technically, general banking staff yung tawag nila kasi job rotation naman sa HSBC. But yung HSBC Group mismo, nagtayo ng call center which is in PBCom and Alabang na naghahandle ng accounts ng HSBC from other countries. HSBC Data Processing yung name. Ito na yung outsourcing nila. IMO, independent yung HSBC Phil sa The Fort from HSBC Data Processing. Yung mga nasa HSBC sa The Fort banker talaga. Yung sa HSBC Data Processing banker din. lol! but handling accounts from other countries. Mas strict yata sa hiring yung HSBC sa The Fort kasi from reputable schools yung kinukuha nila while sa HSBC Data Processing kahit hindi pa grad as long as good sa communication skills, pwede na. not sure tho.

so you mean, that all-around manong directly hired by our bank and doing menial tasks for the general admin dept is also essentially a banker? well, at least he is really connected to the real bank (look at his COE) and not the namesake call center of mnc banks...

well dont take it literally, when i say you work for a bank it meant you're job description is to handle several banking transactions, whether it is over the counter banking transactions, phone banking or even internet banking.

the manongs and manangs can't be called as bankers because just like what you said they are there for maintenance work.

actually banker is such a generalized position, try working for a bank and you would hear positions such as Cashier, Branch Operations Officer, Branch Operations Assistant, Teller, Customer Service Representative, and so on and so forth but collectively, we call them bankers.

I couldn't agree more. glorified term lang yan... so *** mga nagta trabaho sa call center for companies like globe, sprint, qwest etc. should be called TELECOMS SPECIALISTS din pala. LOL

I have a friend who is a licensed Series 7 securities representative in another call center. The client is a bank and he gets paid a whopping PHP45,000.00 a month.

i believe the appropriate term is 'bank employee'. the difference (case in point) between a "citiphone banking, John here how can i help you" employee is that 'John' can get rotated to other departments such loans, trading, marketing, etc.

don't know the case of being a 'call center employee'. you should get transferred/rotated to other departments, but not the clients. afaik
