Ive left my job but my health card is till with me. Can i still use it for out patient consultation? The expiry date on the card is Nov 08 but isnt it that usage of these cards are coterminus with my employment? Or are they lax when it comes to these? Anyone who was able to use his/her card even after his employment has ended? :)

Your insights will be highly appreciated!

depends on your company and their terms and conditions with the health card provider.

some companies ask you to surrender your health card upon termination of your employment with them.

other companies let you keep the card until it expires- since bayad na yun.

to be sure, go ask the HR department of your old company :)

In my company, I'll be liable for fraud should I attempt to use my card after my resignation date.

sometimes companies will advise the health card provider to exclude you from the policy. so when you use it, hindi na makikita yung name mo sa system ng health provider.. so you really have to pay for the consultation fees..

in our company, the membership is terminated pronto at effectivity of resignation. the reason being that most companies would not want to be held responsible for costs incurred especially if the concerned person is not longer under their employment.

unless you personaly paid for your membership, you may go ahead and use it :)

i had an employer before who said that i can use the card pa rin when i left them.would you think its a wise idea to call the HMO to inquire or would they automatically block my card if they learn that im no longer with the company?

yes, it depends on the package your company availed. however, most hmo companies do not shoulder maternity-related check ups and consultations... rather, they have what they call a "maternity assistance"... which is an amount that is reimburseable to the employee, depending on the case (normal or caesarian). this always has a limit.

actually, yes you can still use the card, but you'll have to pay for the membership, because i'm sure the hmo company has already been advised of your separation.

better call the hmo company to be sure :)
