Hi there!

They say that a lot of good companies to work for don't advertise job openings. They usually coarse it through headhunters. Other than "Headhunter Manila", what other headhunters can I send my CV to?

Tried to search for the company called "Wardhowel"- no luck. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Wow, thanks! You see, I looked up this company but I couldn't find their local address. The search led me to their European website lang. Send me naman their address, please? Thanks!

B] silly_ka_jax:[/B] You're welcome. Regarding your question, there's no harm in furnishing Ward Howell with a copy of your resume. I always send these headhunters a revised copy of my resume from time to time, whether or not I'm in the market. Also, these would indicate your continuing interest. This approach enabled me to get my current job. :)

UmaRuma: Check my previous post for the Ward Howell email address.

Cheers.

There is Asia Partnership Philippines at:

http://www.asiapartners.net/

Note, however, that most of the top headhunters will only consider candidates at the mid-management level. Some of the better ones will only look at VPs. That way, they can charge higher finder's fees.

hi! how much is the salary of a consultant if you're working directly sa mga headhunters? Example: I will work as a consultant of John Clements, how much will I expect?
Thanks!

ezdriver
Sep 19, 2003, 09:34 PM
teka...

i believe headhunters are there to look for possible candidates for a particular company. they do the advertising and the initial screening of applicants for their clients. and i believe most of their clients look for candidates for regular positions.

now, when you talk of a consultancy, it is basically employment on a contractual basis. headhunters are often not involved in such types of transactions. consulting agencies do.

if you want to be a consultant for John Clements, for example, you either have yourself endorsed by an agency, or apply to the company directly as a consultant (contractual employee).

so... how much will you be getting if you are endorsed by an agency? it depends per agency. some agencies will give you the amount you asked... what they do is pad some figures in your expected salary and that is what they will be asking from the client. then, there are agencies who will deduct their share from what you asked of them. say, you asked for 35K, you'll then be receiving around 30K only.

Thanks! here's the specific story: sumone from ABC Consulting (Example only) called me and told me if I want to work directly sa kanila, they termed it as "insider" ata. They are offering me the position of a research associate, which is more like a consultant, and I will help in the outsourcing of candidates, "pirating" them from other companies, etc.. and I will also have to do some industry studies and market research. Then they asked me what salary will I be expecting..then I told them blah blah...question is..will they give me the salary I want? or mataas ba sila mag-pa sweldo? Thank you! Your response is highly appreciated!

ezdriver
Sep 20, 2003, 10:49 AM
i think in that case, you'll be a direct employee of the consulting agency itself. you'll be working for the company and not for the client per se, even though you are doing work for them.

teka parang malabo ata explanation ko ah.

just think of it this way. sa consulting, you'll be doing work for the client, you will be working in the client's office, will have direct correspondence with the client's employees and managers. ika nga, you'll be like a regular employee. the only difference is, it is the agency who gives you your salary.

headhunters kasi, initial processing lang ng applications, something like searching for candidates (it includes placement of ads) and screening. afterwhich they will just endorse your apps to the client itself for further processing. doon na nagtatapos yung responsibilities nila.

about the salary... well it depends. for headhunters, they don't have a say on that, it is their client who will actually decide on your value. as for agencies, usually they will try to give what you are asking for. the only problem is if they could find a client who is willing to give that amount.

in your case, i can't get a clear picture of your responsibilities. so i really can't say.

HTH.

Wow, thanks guys! Now I know that Asiaselect does job recruitment/recommendations things. A certain Joy once texted me asking if I'd be interested in exploring opportunities with them and I never had a clue how/where she got my number. While I maintain accounts in both Jobstreet & Jobsdb, hindi ko inopen for all prospective employers to see- I mean I only send to specific jobs I'm interested in. How do headhunters track possible employees ba? Wow, parang cool naman ng job nila, hehe. =)

What about part-time/flexi writing jobs? Would the headhunters out there be able to help me secure or even get to know available jobs of said nature? I used to work for a BS TV network and as the sad plight of a lot of writers, after a certain show is axed, it might take a looong time before one can be part of another show. The waiting can kill- literally and figuratively! My finances are drained fr. such waiting. Hay.

Thanks Now I know why PEx is so popular. =)

^ Oh believe me. Headhunters are VERY resourceful. I just graduated from college, and a few months earlier, a certain resource speaker in our career orientation was a head hunter, and she talked about some of the crazy things some headhunters (or HR people) do to "hunt" prospects or "verify" the err... integrity/veracity of some applicants. :D

Nakakatawa na parang di kapanipaniwala....but they are damn serious about what they do :)

bleh
May 27, 2005, 09:22 PM
this question is for any HR person out there,

why are companies rejecting qualified candidates who have tattoos? i've just heard about this policy and am still in disbelief. really, WHY? (got no tattoos but i find this policy repulsive)

Karasu
May 28, 2005, 02:03 AM
I have to admit.... most prospective customers/investors etc. who see a company employee with a tattoo on any err... visible area of his/her body would be err...uncomfortable. The companies are worried about this. They may or may not see tattoos as repulsive, but if the foreign/local investors/customers don't like it.... well, at the risk of affecting business negatively, they do something about it. So you can't really blame them. I suppose with issues like this, it remains with the companies' discretion as to what they do- unless of course a law is passed forbidding this, or a court ruling denounces such practices as unlawful...

bleh
May 28, 2005, 11:38 AM
Karasu, i don't understand that nga eh. we can tell the difference between a nicely done tattoo and one that looks as if it was done in prison. marami kong nakikitang bata ngayon na may mga tato, hindi naman sila mukhang kriminal. they are only guilty of expressing their individuality. kaya di ko talaga maintindihan bakit naghihigpit mga HR. kitid naman ng katwiran. eh kung sa ibang cultures tulad ng sa Papua New Guinea, weird pa nga na wala kang tato.

Karasu
May 28, 2005, 10:14 PM
bleh: Well, you do have a point. :) And the issue is really interesting, pero if we discuss it any further here in this thread, I fear we'll be off-topic already :D

There's a thread about tattoos, I think. We can discuss stuff there in more detail if you want...
