Does your productivity and effectiveness as an employee increase with wage rate? Or do you put in your all regardless of what you're paid?

It depends on the company. If the culture is that there is performance evaluation like every quarter or every 6 mos. with matching bonus or base pay increase, I 'll work till 1 AM.;)

But if i work for a company that does not even have an automatic annual increase scheme or quarterly, semi-annual performance evaluation w/ bonus or even the attendance bonus, I'll just work what's expected of me. Especially if I work in the finance dept and have access to the FS of the firm and I see that the firm's operations/cost structure has no room to give bonuses, I dont think there's a need to go beyond or magpakitang gilas:lol:

Thanks for the detailed response. What if there's a MONTHLY BONUS based on perfect attendance and hitting certain performance benchmarks? What if the top rate for the bonus is close to 50% of your monthly wage rate?

I've worked in sales where the minimum required from you is 100%. The harder you work the more you get paid (commissions). Go lower than 100% and you'll be walking out the door.

If that means going home everyday at 12 AM or 1 AM, no, I will not do it. I will only go home at those ungodly hours only if there's real need, i.e. a short-notice report, quota-sales emergency etc. . If I 'll just stay there just to make me look hard-working, it's not worth my time. Aanhin ko naman (mas) malaking sweldo kung nagiging sakitin naman ako.;)

Besides, its not about working hard for the money. Its about working smart (at the least effort) for your money. *okay*

Would I work more/better if I got paid more? Yes... to a certain extent.

But it's always a combination of different factors such as job satisfaction, working environment, as well as an established growth and rewards system that will motivate me to do my best.

I think I would do more important and valuable things if I were paid more, but I would probably put in just as much effort as I do now.

I'll work better if yung environment walang gaanong pulitika, next lang dyan is good salary.
