I hope you guys can share your inputs on this one...

I've been working for almost a year for a company in Makati. Pay is not big but the company is well-known... this is the main reason why I chose to work here.

Papasok ako ng 8 in the morning tapos mga 10 or 11PM na ako umuuwi...

I feel helpless kasi madalas siya nagpapa pasok kapag sabado... nawawalan na ako ng quality time for myself and my family.

Huwwaattt??? 14 hours no OT pay, go look for a new job my dear, but then it's your choice...if you're contented with what you're doing right now then continue, if not leave..simple lang naman yan, working long hours is really stressful pero kung compensated naman eh for me tolerable, but in your case walang OT pay..goodness..:grrr:

Kung ako aalis ako dyan, pero malamang na pagbayarin ko muna sila ng OT ko. In the first place, kung alam kong di sila nagbabayad ng OT, walang makakapilit skin na mag-OT kahit isang minuto.

I can totally relate... siguro audit firm ang pinapasukan ni TS... :D

Sa audit firms kasi, talagang mababa ang bayad kasi ang habol mo is experience... after a year or two sa audit firm, mataas na ang market value mo... that's when most people resign and look for better paying jobs.

But then again, marami rin ang naguguluhan. For instance; very prestigious ang dating mo if you work for SGV, Isla Lipana, and other top auditing firms... pero mababa talaga ang bayad considering mga CPAs ang applicants. Tapos ang trabaho... bugbugan. So mind boggler rin para sa mga CPAs in audit kung kelan yun tamang time para umalis.. kumbaga... "when to hold on and when to let go."

i also want to leave my job. the problem is, i still don't have a company to transfer to. guys ask ko lang, is it better if i leave my job now or find a new company first then leave? ang hirap kasi maghanap ng ibang work habang may work ka pa. you really need to be absent sometimes to attend interviews on other companies..

aquinatism-- importante talaga ang work and life balance.. if hinde mo na kaya try to scout for another job then magresign ka..

I suggest you better apply first until you get the offer thats the time you split from your old company. Or kung gusto mo nang magresign make sure dami mo naipon pang-apply at pang tengga hehe.

Mahirap din maghanap ng work pag wala kang current employment. Been there.

How do I know when it is time to leave my job?

Umalis ako sa previous company na pinapasukan ko because its not the job for me kahit na mataas talaga ang sweldo and good benefits. PInagpalit ko sa alam kong work na mag eenjoy talaga ko kahit more than half of my previous salary is slashed away.

Before i transfer to other company ang ginagawa ko is apply other jobs while still employed tas pag me sched for exam or interview i'll go on a leave or SL pag biglaan then inform them agad if meron ka na ibang offer and serve your last 30days on your present company para tuloy tuloy ang work hindi ka matetenga lang.

sorry mods if OT:

my 2 cents... its easier to find a job when you have a job... per my experience... you lose any kind of leverage when you leave without securing a job offer first...

yung ginawa ng isang poster dito is what I would do, Leave if scheduled interview, Sick Leave if biglaan then if you've decided to accept the offer, file your 30 days notice and leave (without burning your bridges of course)

When I have to leave a company, I make sure that I can still keep in touch with them as I'd never know when I could meet them again and they may be able to help me later down the line.

Back to the topic:

If you have to "drag yourself out of bed" to go to work, its a sign that you may need to prepare your "exit strategy".

If you feel you've learned enough to move on to your next career milestone, by all means, do it.

If you know, for certain, that you could get more (salary, benefits, perks, etc.) by working for another company... go for it.

Hopefully you're not bonded and can move on without any fanfare; if you are bonded you could try and compute how much you'd need to pay to get released with ease. Once you have a figure, actively or passively network and try getting job leads (linkedin helps bigtime!), once you get a job offer, negotiate for a signing bonus (yes you can negotiate that, I've done it once or twice successfully) and use that to help pay off your bond.

Hope this helps you decide.:)

if you have an assurance to have a new job when you leave your currently company you're working for. if not, wala ka pang karapatang umalis. mahirap ang maging unemployed these days. sabi nga nila, if you got a job (a professional job), you are the lucky 1 out 5,000,000 college graduates who struggles to have a job but still jobless....

it depends on your priorities... sense of fulfillment comes in first. compensation falls second. if you're not happy with your job, then leave. that's what i did. and 1 month akong jobless... pero syempre, you may also have to consider your chances of getting a new job. kung gaya ka sakin na confident of getting a better job before your savings run out, then no reason to hold back.

ganitong ganito ako a few months ago. i hated my job talaga, as in i wanted to cry every morning pag papasok na. hindi ko na natagalan, i resigned kahit wala pa akong malilipatan. nag-bum ako for 2 months tapos biglang nagka-work din ako which is waaay waaaaay better. =) na-realize ko na sometimes, you just have to sit back, relax and let God do the work for you. super thank God talaga ahaha.

pero kung magiging practical ka, dapat nga may malilipatan ka before u resign. aquinatis can your family support you while u look for a job? or madami din nakadepende sayo?

I remember discussing with some friends about the timing of leaving a company.

Lalo na sa mga probationary pa lang... Take a look around (sa opisina) once in a while. Pero huwag maging paranoid ha. Kung hindi ka na inuutusan ng boss mo, o hindi ka na pinapansin (whether in a good or bad way), maybe it's time to do some job hunting na. Maybe they're looking for a replacement already. Huwag maging kampante. Nobody is indispensable. You may have skills na wala sa iba, o ikaw lang ang marunong gumawa mismo, pero until you sign your regularization papers, you still have one foot outside the office.

^^ how long have you stayed in your job prior sa embassy (syempre nabasa ko posts mo).

I didn't expect n ganon ang magiging work. kasi first and foremost, they should have given me the JD. un ang mali ko. hindi ako nagtanong. basta konting overview lang sa position pati sa unit. kaya the first few weeks, super iyak talaga... until now. yung tipong pag gising ko, ayoko talagang bumangon para pumasok.

I'm still thinking if i'll leave na. kasi nga first job tapos ganon agad... job hopper na. pero di talaga ko happy eh.

I really want to quit already but I can't naman. I have bills to pay. And at the same time may fear na tipong what if my next job would be worse.

Ang hirap mag-decide.. :(

Yes, as most people I've talked to, it's better to find a new job first then leave. This way, your source of income will be continous. Plus sayang rin *** 20+ month bonus namin come december. :)
