Hi guys,
I'm about two semesters into my masters course in Energy Engineering at UPD. I can't help but feel nervous about what I'd do after I finish this.
Like, I'm afraid I'll have no industry to enter, and when I do find one, I'll get some entry level position with a salary not really compensating for my level of education :(
I took this course because I think I can help this country out in the energy scene.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions or information?
Thanks PEX

Fluffydoo: What sort of things do you actually take up in MS Energy Engg?
Curious lang ako (UPD ChE grad ako) kasi kung may kumukuha pa nito ngayon, well obviously meron (ikaw) :)

Hi Dacs,
We take up Systems analysis, different energy technologies (renewable, non-renewable) energy economics, policy making, and stuff like that.

I was also thinking if they had chartered exams for energy engineers that I could possibly take.. hmm...

i would think that Chem Engineers could do very well in taking up Energy Engrg bcoz that's the way of the future.. stocks in solar energy is constantly up when i view the nightly business report on the NYSE.. maybe it is kind of new & not too many companies are on to it yet but for sure it will be one of the top jobs of the near future.. in the meantime, the best place for you to be is in the US as energy is one of the pet projects of Pres.-elect Obama.. how old are you, if i may ask & are you single?:D good luck!

Why don't you try at Sunpower? Your course I think is really aligned in the renewable energy sector. I plan to take my MS in energy engineering next year since I will be joining their R and D team and for additional credentials. Do you have a copy of the course syllabus of the MS in Energy Engineering? Hope you can send it to me. It's not present at the UPD College of Engineering website. Here's my email: berhnysv@yahoo.com. Thanks

Sunpower is a solar equipment assembly, the R&D is more of designing the use of solar into a much energy output like before a 24x18 solar panel can power upto 6v, now a handy solar charger can charge a cellphone of 13.2v
The best energy company you can try is Chevron Geothermal Philippines. Located at 6750 bldg in Ayala. Chevron put-up its R&D for Geothermal Energy here in the Philippines, knowing we are the 2nd Geothermal energy producers in the world.
