I heard a lot of companies are closing.

Semiconductor manufacturing revenue is based on the volume of products that they produce. Since recession ngayon, expect most manufacturing companies to cost cut through pay cut, forced leave or worst, retrenchment kasi walang masyadong demand from customers.

yup it's true, but then again it is part of the cycle ..... some of those who are mature in teh semicon industry says, its a 5-year cycle, but the last slow down that I can remember was in 2000-2001, so medyp matagal na rin. from where i am working our orders for the month of december is 1/4 of the capacity, thus cost cutting is the name of the game. but then again, cutting headcount is not having that great an impact, instead facilities related cost is. kaya lang kung papatay ka ng makina, alang gagawin ang mga tao, so domino effect, alisin na ri lang.... :)
