View Full Version : A memo can cost you a job

I just recently applied in a well-known call center and everything went well until I have reached the final interview. During the final interview, I was asked if I received any memos/written warnings/suspensions from my current employer (obviously I'm still working also in a call center). And I told her the truth, that I received a memo and got suspended because of tardiness. And the result.....I wasn't hired. Hell, as if naman there was no agent who never committed mistakes, knowing that the call center industry is by far the only industry where everything you do is strictly monitored/scored and have almost-impossible metrics to meet. Eh yung iba pa nga nakakakuha ng memos due to not meeting the necessary deliverables (QA score, AHT, and what have you). Anyway, I have another interview scheduled this friday from another company and now I'm thinking twice if I should still tell the truth if I will be asked that question again. :sweatdrop2:

If you don't want to lie, then you'll have to tell the truth. Now, what's the problem?

Maybe, you were not hired for another reason. They just used the memo thing to make it easy on you. just a thought.

Yeah it could be. Also tardiness and absenteeism are important in a call center business because the two are connected to behavioral issues. Unlike receiving memos for not passing Quality, AHT, etc.. because those can be improved. It's a matter of skill, determination and knowledge.

you just really have to kiss @$$ to get THE job you want.
Lie if necessary.
At kung talaga gusto mong matanggap, wag mong sabihin ang lahat ng katotohanan..
:okay:
proven na yan! :P

I had that issue as well and thought of it as a liability until, after giving it much thought, I realized that your emphasis should lie on what you learned from your experience. Yes, there are many other people who have also gotten memos or who have had attendance issues. But showing your potential employer that you have learned something from that and that you now understand the consequences of those actions will encourage them to consider you, unlike simply admitting that you had a memo because of attendance. You can also cite if you had the chance to set your record straight with your previous company and if you were entrusted with additional responsibilities after your improvement. If you land the job, then take it as an opportunity to rebuild your record. :)

Don't LIE. Lalo na if you're applying with KNOWN CENTERS.
Ewan ko rin ba, yung iba as in AWOL pero nakakalusot na
makapasok.
Alam ko rin next na tinanong sa iyo, tipong
what's the reason for you tardiness? Did you report that to your
supervisor?:bashful:
Siguro masama makarinig ng "suspension" word for the
interviewer, so maybe you can say, you did receive a memo
PERIOD. Don't make kuwento about your suspension.
I think YOU WEREN'T MEANT TO WORK THERE. So atleast
may work ka pa naman. Mas masakit kung jobless, mas frustrating
ang feeling.
