Critical thinking time first....
If rice really made people fat, Asia would have the most number of obese people in the world. But is that the case? it isn't.
The case of getting fat is the increased rise of eating processed foods, and sadly, bread.
Now, to answer your question, I'd say going to the gym will do wonders in firming up your body ad helping you lose fat.
yoga is good for flexibility and relaxation. But pleas,e bikram isn't really that good. I have a friend who is a qualified and senior level yoga instructor and he believes bikram is way overrated. hatha and ashtanga are better choices

You can balance the two out. Get a gym membership for strength training, then buy low-priced yoga videos and do yoga at home.
Or you can join a yoga class, then buy a stability ball, a pair of dumbbells, a resistance band, and (optionally) a BOSU ball to do strength training at home. The Internet has a vast resource about strength training.

Jump rope. That's all I did to lose fat. So, now, I enrolled at a gym so I can do strength training.
Not sure what you mean by not wanting your height to be affected. If your muscles are strong enough, you'll be forced to maintain proper posture, and then you'll look taller.

Do strength training and cardio na lang tapos tamang diet. Moderation NOT elimination is the key to dieting.

I do yoga (hot flow) once a week, for relaxation.
Buti na lang sa gym eh may yoga classes.
I've tried pilates once (two years ago)... sumakit puwet at abs ko for two days. After nun, di na ako umulit.
