Here's what I can share:
1) Never try to rise on top by a$$-kissing your superiors. It would be best to prove yourself through performance. Prove what you can do and not what you can say. Stay low and let your performance speak for yourself. Be positive at all times.

2) This is during the interview. Compose yourself before the scheduled interview. When asked why you want to get the position, don't ever say that it's because of the salary increase or that you don't want to take calls anymore. Say something inspirational like "I want to take on a higher responsibility" or something to that effect. Don't just be a dreamer in what you say, you have to be realistic. When speaking, don't lose eye-contact and avoid unnecessary movements.

since this is for promotion, you might want to prepare for these questions:
- what have you contributed so far to your account (sometimes, the team or the company)
- what are your weaknesses? (typical but still asked. dont give out any personal trait. make it work related. identify it and what you've done to work on it so far)
- how does your team perceive you?
- which will you prioritize, urgent or important. (to which, always pick urgent)
- one thing i was asked before was, 'what metric have you had difficulties with?' they followed it up with how did you improve on that metric. and last was how can you communicate this to your team.
- on any question, use the STAR method for your answers, any interviewer will tell you the same thing.
S - Situation
T - Task
A - Action
R - Result

im a senior tl. a few things we always look for is someone with a sense of urgency and initiative. make sure you communicate this in your interview.

if it's a promotion you definitely need to kiss@SS and hope for the best even if you are recommended by your tl there's no guarantee.
