Please share salary negotiation tips. Is this done immediately after the job offer? What should be considered when negotiating? Thanks.

1. Kayo ay pinagpala at sought after kayo ng companies

Di muna papansinin yan; interview muna sila kung ok ang interview mo then next is the salary nego; usually after those technical interviews.

In times of crisis today dahan-dahan sa pag demand ng malaking salary; maybe the job you turned down is one of the most successful job to others.

For my own understanding, what do you mean by "a job offer" ?

In my case (I'm in another region), a job offer is a letter, an employment contract that the applicant will sign if he agrees with it. Usually the salary is no longer negotiable at this point and the letter already contains the offered salary. Before they give you the offer, they will ask you for your desired salary and you may give verbal agreement at this point if they indeed give you a figure.

When I was in the Philippines (years ago), the negotiation can really be negotiating kasi marami barat dyan reflecting a job market where there are more job-seekers than there are jobs.

I think the factors you should consider are:
1) what is the prevailing market rate for your skills and experience in the same industry? this is very difficult to get in the Philippines
2) what is the rate that others who work for the same company having the same role/skillset/experience get?
3) what is your competency level compared to the set of people who have the same years of experience in the same role in the same industry?

Based on roughly the above, you should be able to rate yourself above or average against the market in the same industry. The idea is to get a high rating for 3 so you can price yourself higher than the market. Based on my experience, we don't give the job to a candidate with a lower salary because he is less competent but we will offer a higher than market salary for candidates that we deem highly skilled than the average job-seeker. In short, skills and salary go hand-in-hand. The more skilled you are, the higher salary you can command and more importantly a better chance of landing that job.

I mentioned industry because different industries tend to have different pay-scales for the same level.

if you dont want to go the route that tokyo_mayor mentioned and just basing on your current salary and position, be honest and upfront about this to the company your applying for.

Tell them your current position and current salary and tell them that:
a. you're not looking for a new work to have a lower salary or
b. be demoted.
Its but natural to look greener pastures :) ... unless sukang suka ka na sa trabaho mo at tatanggapin mo kahit ano.

But like what they all mentioned, dahan dahan sa pagdemand.

Good luck!

if new grad, minimum salary ka dun sa rank mo

1. they will ask your current salary and benefits, then they will compute
car plan, housing, guaranteed months, bonuses, profit sharing

1 rank higher, 25%
2 ranks higher, 50%
madali maka 25% or 50%

How do we effectively do this without being too demanding? Let's say the company has offered me my expected salary, pero yung minimum ng expected salary ko. But I'd like to try if I can haggle for my salary for at least 3K more.
Cheers! Thanks sa sasagot.

it all boils down on how you see yourself. kung proud ka sa achivements mo at experience, kayang kaya mo mag haggle.

You should know the industry salary bracket for the open position, then check if you're expected salary is within that bracket.

You might be experienced but if you're expected salary is beyond the salary bracket, companies will not consider your application.
