hello!
this is not meant to be demeaning to anyone (coz i myself will be working for a BPO), but i just wanna know what you guys think about it.
we all know that the BPO industry is booming right now (kaya puro ganun ang available jobs :)) pero ok lang ba sa mga ganito in terms of career growth? :D hindi ba tipong pag galing kang BPO eh sa BPO ka na lang talaga?
ps: yung bpo pala na tinutukoy ko, yung non-voice ha. so let's exclude call centers in the discussion. thanks :D

hmm.. pero diba halos lahat naman ng jobs mejo routine in nature?
tsaka diba ang difference lang naman sa mga BPO eh you're not part of the company mismo, kundi parang back office lang? but you're doing the same kind of work, right?

Well based on my experience and observation, there is career growth. Well maybe at least in the company I worked with. The smaller the company, the bigger chances that you'll take on more responsibilities/multitask. Bigger BPO companies have more people and most of them practice external hiring of supervisory/management personnel. In case they hire internally, expect a lot of competitors.
Minsan naman it's also about being the right place at the right time with the right people eh. Knowing different programs and willingness to learn more also helps.
Remember IQ gets you hired but EQ gets you promoted.

Although considered BPO, shared services is a different breed. The job is more secured as Manila folks were considered as one department of the parent company instead of service provider. They cannot pull out the job easily as this will affect their operations. The work environment is also the same with parent company.
Unlike with a back office BPO, the client can easily pull out due to many reasons and transfer to another country. Staff are probably considered as third party service provider and not as colleagues.

btw, just like in any other industries, there is growth in BPO depending on the company, job assignment, corporate organization and individual's capabilities.
