View Full Version : Entry-level NETWORK engr - CCNA

Mahone
Apr 27, 2009, 12:43 PM
I am currently taking CCNA (Certified Cisco Network Associate) and I am in the last module (4). I want to expose in network production before taking the certification exam.

Is there any companies accepting entry-level as network engr? Is Verizon accepting this?

Any thoughts mga pexers? Share your ideas about networking experience.

Many thanks,

This is an interesting thread. :) Anyways, I will suggest you to submit your resume to the following companies,

1. Verizon Business Philippines
2. DataCraft Philippines Inc.
3. Trends and Technologies, Inc.
4. Computer Network Systems Corporation
5. Microbase Incorporated.

Submit your application. Kaya ka nga nag-take ng CCNA examination para makapasok as Junior, Network Engineer di ba? The CCNA certificate will serve as your passport to land in a Network Engineer position. Actually kahit wala kang certificate. Just prepare yourself in the technical interview and show the technical manager that YOU REALLY WANT THE JOB. Learn the basic concept of routing, switching etc. Topics like IOS Configuration, Managing IOS Files, IP Addressing, subnetting, supernetting, route redistribution, routing protocols, VLANs etc.

The best thing about these companies is that they will sponsor your expenses for other Cisco certifications especially if the company is a registered partner of Cisco. Believe me you will learn a lot from these companies. And very exciting because the position is field work so you will experience to visit different places in the Philippines and you will meet a lot of people. Hehehe. And if the company is satisfied to your performance, they will send you to other country for further training as preparation for obtaining those higher Cisco certifications.

Good luck to all aspirants. :)

@amajbbYUAP - Sir question about the average salary (starting) for (CCNA) Net Engineer? Estimate *** Sir here in the Philippines. Thanks.
Hi there.

Normally it's 12,000 pesos for fresh graduates and/or beginners di ba? So what kung sakaling mas mababa pa d'yan? Remember, it's the experience that matters and not the amount that you will get.

Alam mo kapag nakapasok ka sa ganyang position, solve ka na, diretso na yan all way to the top. Kaya kailangan tanungin mo rin ang sarili mo in the beginning kung gusto mo talaga ang career na yan and not just about the salary. Because you know why?

For sure there will be salary increase but that will depend on your performance. Ganon naman talaga kahit saang company.

When you pass the examination, you will get an additional pay on your monthly salary. :)

The best thing is stable ang work and position mo.

Hahaha

post ko lang rin dito. sorry if you feel like im hijacking this thread. i am not. just trying to get more people to join.

to all interested, we'll be doing some a cisco live session to teach fellow pinoys about CCNA and probably some CCNP as well. however, we're targeting the NA aspirants for now. this will be completely FREE. however, it will be limited to 20 people since we do not have a paid account for the conferencing tool that we're going to be using. since it is limited, it will be first come first serve basis. i'll announce the time and date here (http://pinoyexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150821) once we've arranged everything. once it is posted, i will need you to drop me a message so i can send you the password for you to join. in the meantime, we would like for you to suggest what topics you want us to cover. again, this is completely free and there's no catch.

Or pwede kaya apply sa SG **** certified CCNA and technical support (coordinating with desktop, server and network engrs) experienced q yun kc dream q *** lang puro experienced hands on hanap nila? Please advise.

Here's my opinion sayo. While you're still looking for a job, start working on your CCNP or whatever concentration you want. CCNA guys are dime a dozen, so stopping at CCNA is not really a good move.

When you are hired, study harder para makuha niyo yung mas mataas na certificates sa Cisco like CCNP, CCIE etc, yun ay kung gusto niyo talaga sa Network Design and Engineering.

Problemado kayo masyado sa pag-a-apply. Ang daming IT Consulting Firms d'yan sa Manila. :)

Tingnan niyo lang mabuti yung work description niyo kung pang Network Engineer talaga kasi may mga IT Firms din na hindi masyadong active sa Cisco network products. So what's the point of being a network engineer in a firm kung iba naman ang ginagawa mo. IT nga siya but not into networking, right?

tiffz26

^With all due respect, marami ngang IT Consulting Firms, pero at this time of the year, ilan lang ba sa kanila ang may job openings.

zerglings
Nov 19, 2009, 03:46 AM

amajbbYUAP
Nov 19, 2009, 02:54 PM
^^ And my question is, sinubukan mo/ba ninyong mag-apply? At least subukan mo/niyo.

Alam niyo bang tumatanggap ang ibang firms ng entry-level with or without CCNA certificate? I think Verizon Business Philippines accepts applicants without these certificates.

Yeah medyo mahirap at first because you will undergo a series of technical interviews. Pero kung determined ka talaga na i-pursue ang career, then I don't think mahirap siya.

What do you think? I want to hear your positive reply. Ayokong makarinig nang mahirap na ang labanan and all that sh!t (sorry moderators, i just want to help these guys). Hehehe.

Yes, you have to try. But what I am saying is, don't stop at CCNA while looking for a job. Maraming mga tao nadidiscourage kaagad dahil walang tumatawag sa kanila after they submit the application. Yes, you can do above and beyond after the application but a lot of guys in the industry just stop at CCNA but they really shouldn't. They think that they know it all dahil CCNA na sila. Most/some of them naman gumamit ng dumps para pumasa. Oh well.

Yes, I've talked to some VzB folks na naghihire sila ng hindi CCNA. Most of the time, they hire them to do Layer 1 and 2 or probably just take calls from the customers and escalate it to a different tier. They still call them Engineers while their job's description isn't.

Sometimes, it is not what you know but who you know rin. My colleague at work got in because his brother-in-law was a former employee of my boss. This colleague of mine didn't have any CCNA or any IT experience at all but got hired. I gotta say though, he works very hard and don't slack at all.

Guys, paalala lang, we are hosting live session to help you understand some concepts you're having trouble with. This is completely FREE of charge. First come first serve basis.

Network Support has gone globally, the reason why you need to wait or apply to more companies it's because not just in the Philippines have CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCIE but other countries like China halos ang dami nila doon. Remember before we have benefited from Chinese networking forum posting some top questions and answers on certifications. That's why Cisco changed it's exam to adaptive and less multiple choices mostly situational na.

On the other hand, the networking world has changed Chinese products are now emerging to the enterprise market like Huawei. Do you know that our local carriers Smart and Globe and even PLDT are starting to use on their enterprise equipment brands like Huawei, etc.

In Singapore for instance, they hire a lot of foreigners most of them Filipinos and Indian because of certifications on their resume but when they get into battle they slack mostly. The company have no choice but to terminate your contract. Dito sa pinas pwede pang 2nd or 3rd chance. So be ready globally

Good luck. :)

yung iba po ba jan nagbibigay ng training for entry level?

amajbbYUAP
Nov 20, 2009, 07:22 PM
^ Yes. And your training will be an on-site inspection/support to your clients. Hindi yung magdi-discuss kayo sa classroom. Kunwari tumawag ang client niyo na may problema ang isang router nila sa isang branch office, if you can resolve the issue by connecting to that router via telnet, SSH, you will resolve that issue in your office. Just check the router configuration etc. Pero kung kailangan niyo pumunta sa site na yun because you need to change something let's say physical connection, then isasama ka sa mga Senior Network Engineers nila para matutunan mo kung paano ang flow ng trabaho. :)

So be prepared din and work smartly. Act like you know how to resolve the issue (kahit hinde). Hehehe

Good luck.

amajbbYUAP
Nov 20, 2009, 07:27 PM
^ Idagdag ko na rin.

Ang daming reviewers na available online. You can download these reviewers from torrent. :)

zerglings
Nov 21, 2009, 03:28 AM
I hope you're not talking about dumps when you said reviewer.

The best simulator that I've used is GNS3. I've talked about it sa kabilang thread. Some CCIEs have used this simulator to pass their CCIE lab exam.

When I finally decide if I am going to take the CCIE R&S exam (both), I'll most likely use my GNS3 since I don't want to spend some more for my lab. It depends though. I might add some more routers to my home lab when budget allows. Nothing beats real equipment. Besides, GNS3 is limited in terms of switching. They don't have real switches but you can add a switch module to the router to act as a switch. However, it doesn't do L3 switching, IIRC.

Guys, I have couple more slots sa live session na gaganapin on 11/21/09 @ 10AM (pinas time). We'll pretty much discuss any topics that you have hard time with and/or specific questions you may have. Again, this is completely free. I have couple more slots left.

Routers 1, 2 and 3 are all configured for static routing. Routers 4, 5 and 6 are configured for RIP route.

Paano ko i-re-redistribute yung static routes coming from Router 3 going to Router 4 since router 4 is configured to RIP route? Directly connected yung link nila?

I did a research and the command to use is redistribute static. I configured that on Router4 then tried to ping Routers 5 and 6 from Router 1. I'm not getting a reply from those routers.

Please help.

Wait. I will post the configuration per router. Please check me If I'm wrong.

So yun.

Nag-download ako niyang sinabi mo. Paano mag-register nang IOS image?

Please help me. I really want to learn the subject. Actually self-study lang din ako. I don't have that much budget para mag-enroll pa sa mga schools like Mapua, UPITC etc. So I'm studying the course on my own. Mag-aaral ako ulit kapag sumusuweldo na ako.

I was hired for an entry level position -- IT, Systems and Network Engineer so I am really studying hard to impress my employer. Kahit alam nila na hilaw pa ako. Hahahaha

Help me. Thanks.

Kung meron kayong free training (as in free ha. walang bayad), baka puwede akong pumunta. I still have few days left..
