I was just wondering if there are any Pexer that are sustainability professionals such as LEED AP's, BREEAM Assessors, Green Star Practitioners, etc. Sustainability is the latest trend with all the propaganda of going 'green' and all that shebang and I am curious if the Pex community already was bitten by the 'green bug'.

our expats are LEED professionals. i work for an american company. i haven't heard of locals having such certification. i think this one is applicable to US and other countries but here in the philippines its not even heard of by most of us.

^^I'm also a LEED AP (NC v2.2) and there are only a handful of us (literally could only be counted by the fingers!) in the Philippines. It's sad that 'Pinas is not committed to sustainability. However, it's a start that sustainability is starting to be introduced. Example is the proposed Zuellig building (along Makati Ave.?) targetting a LEED certification. :)

You need to pass the exam to be certified as LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) administered by GBCI (Green Building Certification Institute). I am not quite sure how this is done nowadays because there has been a new development of being certified just this year. What remained constant is that, you need to review the resource handbook and know how to apply the principles, and not just memorize them. The exam is done in any Prometric Test Centers. I don't know if there's a Prometric Testing Center in the Philippines as I have taken my exam when I was in UK last year.

^^Btw, the cost of exam is US$300 for USGBC member, US$400 for non-USGBC member. The exam is computerised, multiple choice and some of the questions have multiple correct answers which makes the exam tricky.

nakita ko nga siya sir sa website nung usgbc nung sunday. i'll try to research more about this pano magreview, saan magapply at magexam. pero parang sa US at other countries lang ang mga testing center nila. so i'll guess medyo matatagalan kung talagang gusto ko magapply for certification. unless magkaroon ng local screening and testing sa pinas.

the only way to review, if you're not US-based like I do, is to get the reading materials, primarily the LEED Reference Handbook. I Had to do a lot of self-study because some of the concepts are waaay out of my practice. Nowadays, there are a lot of review materials with some actual sample test questionnaires that can be purchased online. The application for exam is done online thru GBCI website. With regards to testing center, I have an environmentalist colleague who was planning to take a LEED AP exam told me that there's already a Prometric Testing Center in Makati. You need to check that out. :)

I am a farmer from Laguna, now working in Dubai, nagiipon para pambili ng traktora. I am trying to start a career in sustainability, part time habang nagsasaka paguwi. Siguro madami na din na sustainability professionals na pinoy. Halos lahat ng review materials ko galing din sa internet, I can share it to anyone who is interested. Meron din testing center ang prometric sa Makati (Ateneo?). Kaya nga lang meron na silang bagong Version 3, pero halos parehas lang. Mas mahirap lang ang pag-aapply. I took the exam here in Dubai, bago na phase out ang ver2.2.

^^When did you got your certification?
Btw, I received an email from GBCI prompting me to enroll for the LEED V3 upgrade. From the looks of it, it becomes more difficult to get certification because of the specialization. Furthermore, there's continuing professional units to maintain that needs to be reported every couple of years otherwise you will lose your certification. Good thing for those certified on earlier versions of LEED (like me :) ), you could still use the title LEED AP after your name (but without the specialisation, of course).

oh that is the reason why a department which was previously called as SQHE became 'Sustainability'

I think it is not an upgrade to ver3, they call it credetialing maintenance program. You will always be a LEED AP as long as you attain the required CE hours and you will have two years. Madali lang i-maintain pero kailangan din ng pera. Humirap ang pagaapply sa pagkuha ng exam kasi kailangan ng actual na work experience at humihingi na ng mga certification. Pero yon exam ay halos kaunti lang ang ipinagbago.
I took the exam here in Dubai after two months self study last June 2009. Kaya hayon pasang awa (79%).
Ang problema kasi kaya kakaunti ang LEED AP na pinoy ay ang gastos, more than 20k. Pag bumagsak bayad ka ulit! Halos mga stablished professional lang ang nagtatry kumuha ng exam, pero madami na din.
