View Full Version : Could sodium intake be countered by water consumption?

We have a history of uric problems in our family, and thus I've grown very conscious of the sodium in the food I've been eating. Because I can't cook, I often eat processed stuff at home when no one is around to prepare real food. Microwave dinners, instant noodles, canned goods---you name it. However, I consume at least 2 glasses of water when consuming high-sodium meals. Is this an effective measure to lower the sodium levels in my body and flush them all out?

I'm kinda scared because I've heard this horror story of a relative's friend who acquired some sort of disease as a result of consuming instant food almost everyday while he worked in Singapore. (I don't consume THAT much sodium, though! I eat instant meals with about 1000-1200mg of sodium about 3-5 times a week.)

Thanks.

So I think the best way to deal with this is to minimize sodium intake.
