Makati is now my adopted hometown. We've been living here for almost ten years now. Both our children were born here. Our vice mayor is a La Sallian (tama ba yon?), movie actor, and host of Battle of the Brainless. One of our councilors is an ex-singer (ala-ala nang tayo'y mag-sweetheart pa, namamasyal pa sa Luneta nang walang peraaaaaaaaaaa...), and our mayors (former, current, and future) are married to each other. Our congressman is a joker. Literally.

Who else in this community lives here? Mabuhay!

Don't you know that we have our own city university, just like Manila?

meron akong dati pang iniisip... makati earns enormous revenues what with the premier business district housed in it... but still so many people go by each day without eating and the youth's minds are not efficiently developed (pangit ang public schools dito)... :(

As to your concern about the state of Makati's public schools, I'm afraid, simmie that despite the city's wealth, there's not much it can do for public school instruction as long as our beloved DECS is in control. Maybe they can build nice facilities, but that's about it. Teaching is another matter altogether.

But, as I mentioned earlier, the Pamantasan ng Makati is a different story altogether. It's a degree-granting university owned and operated by the city government. It's well-funded and quite good, I hear. You should visit it sometime.

i really find it convenient for me to be livin in makati...its near the nice malls, its where most of the gimik places are, and its kinda safer than other cities if u ask me!

We live in the Jupiter/P Burgos area, outside Bel-Air. Yes, it is convenient, especially for my wife, who can walk to work if she wanted to.

I must say, though, that Makati life is not perfect. Life in a typical subdivision also has its merits. There is less dust, for one thing, and it is much quieter at night.

Yep, Makati is the most convenient place to be if you happen to be working here. Great place to spend your weekend also as you do not have to travel far for a nice treat. Home, it also is like a subdivision. By the way I live in Palm Village.

Convenient -- You said it!!!

It's in the middle of everything -- the malls, movie theaters, bars and restos, the office, in the middle of north (QC) and south (alabang) which makes it easy to travel around manila.

unfortunately, if you dont live in its posh villages, there may be downfalls -- pollution, floods. sigh.

owel. i've learned to love makati. ive practically lived my whole life here. my family (except my mom) has learned to deal with the flood (by getting used to it hahaha!).

sadly my mom wants us to move to a new house in Pasig. but they're not selling the house in makati -- so I'll be left behind whether they like it or not. Hah! (no parents to live and meddle with? who wouldn't want that?!) ;P

Kyutfeys, Maybe, but I am not sure because the one I just rented is 27,500/mo. Mahal pero because this one has just been renovated. My neighbors say that they are paying less than that, because they have been here for more than 10 years. I'll ask around and scout for some "For Rent" signs and buzz you.

Are you talking about the city center? Makati has everything! My family used to live in Ft. Bonifacio, Makati. Since birth, Batang Bonifacio/Makati na. When C5 road was constructed our family transferred to Taguig along with other neighbors. But still ang puso nasa Makati pa rin. It's hard to leave the place but there's no way we can stay. That's where we grew up, studied, worked, gimmick sa malls, neighbors & friends, the list goes on..
Makati.. its one of the best places sa Pinas!

Hindi lahat ng mga taga-Makati ay fat cows!! In fact, the "rich and famous" population of Makati is but relatively a small portion of the entire Makati population. Unfortunately, when people think Makati, they associate its image mainly with the CBD (Central Business District) with its tall gleaming buildings, the Ayala Commercial Center, the new Fort Boni City, Rockwell Center and the posh villages like Forbes Park, Dasma, Bel-Air, Urdaneta and san Lorenzo.

Besides, kahit "fat cows" (ano naman gusto ni Miriam, thin/malnourished cows??? Hello!!!), wala namang mad cow disease gaya niya! :lol:

We live at "Bel-Air Gillage" (just outside the Bel-Air gates, kaya nasa gilid). Corny ba?! :lol: :bop:

Actually, I live in Alabang but we have a condo here in Makati where I stay during weekdays (to avoid the traffic rush). So I guess you can say na taga-Makati na rin ako. :)

i've lived all my life in makati. I've even studied from pre-school to college in Makati (over loyal resident ba me?!?) also works in Makati along Ayala Avenue... sarap dito sa ating CITY kasi talagang kakaiba ang ambience if you compare it with the other cities surrounding us.

advantage : sa work, I need only 10-15 min travel time from my place to the office. for lunch dami2 choices punta ka lang glorietta... if you need to buy anything nang biglaan go ka lang agad sa malls... hhaaayyy, saaawaaappp !!!

disadvantage : MAGASTOS po !!! :p

i'm really not a permanent resident here in makati although i've been living here for almost four years now. Galing po ako sa province and came to manila after graduation to take the board exam afterwhich you could say i stuck to city life...

i'm still trying to acquaint myself to working here in makati (used to work in ortigas kasi e...found that CBD a better place to work in...less polluted and believe it or not, less hassle too - sorry ha.)

over the years, i've come to love the area i live in (not the house though) sobrang convenient ang location ng apartment namin. near the banks, drugstore, salon, grocery store, church, fastfood joints...and the police station... :bungi:

I was born in M.M but I was raised in Makati. My home is near at Montojo and Primo Rivera. Nung mga 19+ years lang ako tsaka naglakakawatsa sa mga mall sa makati hehehe!! but I didn't go to night club or bar in Makati :D cause I'm don't have a night life but I'm proud to be Makati girl....sa Makati la gaano usok di tulad sa Divisoria grabe daming kalat, usok, tao na walang modo well, di lahat. Di ko naman sinasabi na malinis yung Makati....in some part oo but in some part of Makati also di gaano malinis tulad ng riles ng train band sa sa buendia. All I can say is it is nice and convenient way to stay and live in Makati hehehehe!!

Love weekends here. There's a bazaar at the park just across where I live every Saturday, it's sooo quiet on Sundays, walking distance from everything. I can go to starbucks in my pj's. Cabs are 60 bucks tops anywhere u go.

I'm from Bel-Air Gillage, sa gilid ng Bel-Air, hahatotoo. Street kasi namin yung border ng Bel-Air at Poblacion, dating Mercedes Street, naging Kalayaan Avenue, ngayon Rockwell Drive na. Dun kami sa may Iglesia ni Kristo.

Maganda transformation sa lugar namin. Bulok to dati, lalo na yung Rockwell Area, inaatake ako ng asthma kapag nagbuga na ng usok yung planta nung bata pa ako. Isa ako sa mga streetchildren sa Makati Avenue, yung part na malapit na sa Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge, nagnanakaw pa kami ng mga isda sa DBP sa tapat ng Pacific Star Building, nakilala tuloy ako ng isa sa mga guards nun dati.

Ngayon maganda sa lugar namin, 3 minute walk nasa Rockwell ka na o kaya sa A-Venue Mall. Kaso nakakailang pumunta dun, high end mga tao, hindi maganda sa pakiramdam, simula nung dinevelop yung Rockwell wala pang sampung beses na pumunta ako dun kahit na sobrang lapit lang sa amin.

Mas masarap tumambay dun sa barangay gym namin malapit sa Makati Museum sa JP Rizal.

Astig sa lugar namin kapag Semana Santa, yung mga Kalbaryo ng Poblacion.

We've lived in The Columns Ayala Avenue since Feb this year and it's been a wonderful stay. We've lived in Raya Gardens Merville and La Marea, San Pedro Laguna and although both places are also truly beautiful, nothing beats being able to walk along Ayala Avenue in my pambahay and flip-flops. :-)

i grew up in Makati, actually not far from Rockwell, back when Rockwell was still an actual power plant. The area I grew up in was actually a nice area when we lived there but now it is a squatter area.

I used to rent at Columns Ayala Ave but left because I got assigned in the US. I already bought a unit at Avida Makati West. Dun nako titira pag uwi ko next year! Gawa na sana sya by then.
