Something about myself. I'm a 21 year old guy who has a height of 5 feet 10 inches and approximatly weighs 195-199lbs.

I used to be 230lbs but I've lost around 15lbs in 3 weeks using the Atkins Diet and another 15-20lbs in a span of 2 months. Do note that the latter was the result of too much "cheating". ;)

I'm hoping to reach 150lbs before the end of this year. Just this week I've started working out at a local gym doing cardio exercises and weight training everyday. I'm doing these excercises in the hope that it would supplement my diet. Accelerating the process of weight/fat loss.

My question is will I have a harder time losing weight/fat if I do weight training? I've heard from some people that it screws up the process.

My other question is how do I eliminate those darn stretch/fat marks? I heard that some women in Europe use olive oil after giving birth to remove em. I also heard that the only way to remove em is by surgery that could reach a million pesos!

Lastly, can a 17 year old do weight training already or is that too young?

Thanks :D

On the contrary. Muscle is a very active tissue with high-energy requirements. When you exercise regularly, there is an increase in muscle tissue, causes a corresponding increase in the number of calories your body will burn. In other words, you lose fat. Some people might not lose the weight because of the increase in muscle bulk, but the weight is due to muscle, not to fat, and it would be pretty obvious to differentiate muscle against flab anyway.

When the stretch marks are still "young"/"new", it will help to massage them regulary with lotion or cream. This will stimulate circulation (it's not the olive oil, it's the massaging). Once you exercise and start firming up, you will also notice that the marks will gradually fade away. More mature stretch marks will not respond to massaging anymore, and you will have to see a cosmetic surgeon for that. The fees never reach a million pesos. That's overly exaggerated.

It depends on how physically mature you are already. If you are in Tanner 5 Stage already (pubic hair distribution is already adult, with hair growth to medial thighs, + adult-sized penis and scrotum--in short, you are already physically adult) and you are being properly supervised by an instructor, then it's fine. Adolescents 14 years and below or those with Tanner 4 down should be careful with weight training, because of a high incidence of fracture and problems with vertical growth.
