Hi,
I have read previous discussions on this forum about U.S. jobs while I was still in Manila. They were talking about computer jobs here, particularly in Los Angeles area - where i now stay. By any chance, would those people be still on this forum?
The thing is, I'm looking for an employer who is willing to provide H1b sponsorship for a computer professional like me. I have just been here for a month and I find it interesting to settle here for good, well that is if i find a big-fat-check paying employer. I know that the .COM companies have suffered huge losses in the last 4 months.. what could be my chances in finding a sponsor here? I have good technical experience on web designing (ASP,DHTML,etc..)
and windows programming (visual basic,delphi).
Thanks!

i understand that the quota's up for this year. there's a hiring freeze right now, but if you're really awesome, an h1 is possible. but you have to have real formidable skills for that since most companies try to stay away from sponsoring as much as possible. they're sending back indian employees by the boatload. tough for web design but up-to-date programming skills might be your selling point.

I.T. job market in Silicon Valley and LA is said to be quite bad. It probably depends on what sector of I.T. is involved.

Layoffs galore for the past 2 months although they expect the situation to ease up in the next few months.

hiring's really bad here. am staying in portland right now, just for a vacation though. i had a work in manila but i quitted. it's fine with me. i can always look for a better job back there (i hope!) hahaha.
i guess i don't have the luck to get myself a job here in the US yet... maybe some other time. so on june 12th.... home i go!
