she's from Cavite. probinsiyana talaga pero her family is very rich. i heard her family owns a subdivision in Cavite.

Kaye Abad is a good actress,I have seen her in a "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode sa cable dito,where she played a prostitute,she played the complicated character brillantly!I was skeptikal about it at first,I was like "Ngek! Isn't she too wholesome?" But she pulled it off,and quite impressive considering she was opposite Gina Alajar. Natural na Natural yung acting niya! She did not go overboard or anything. ABS-CBN does not use her well,maybe because she is not your typical "beautiful actress" in which society thinks na maganda ka just because matangos ilong mo,or you have fair skin,tisay,etc. Standards na iniexpect ng mga tao,which is quite pathetic if you ask me. Her simplicity says all. I think she is capable of a lot of things if given a chance. Ano ba ang "mukhang mayaman",meron na pala yun ngayon? Kailangan ba katulad ni Troy Montero,ganun yung "mukhang mayaman"--Oh my God! Have you seen him act? Or Vanessa del Bianco "mukhang mayaman". What is that suppose to mean? "Mukha siyang promdi",so that makes her less of an actress? That is very sad,you guys. Kung ganoon lang yung standards na titingnan niyo,ang babaw. And do American citizens have to look like a certain way too? Trust me pumunta kayo rito,all your impressions will just fade off.

I think she's one of the most talented young actresses around. She hardly ever overacts, and the only time she is pa-cute is when the role she's playing is really pa-cute anyway. She's not pretty in the traditional way young actresses like Cheska Garcia or those ABS-CBN talents are pretty, but she is nevertheless an attractive enough young lady, and while beauty doesn't last, talent does. I would think that it would even be to her advantage that she isn't gorgeous--at least that way, she won't be stuck doing stereotyped roles beautiful actresses seem to end up in. She'll be more effective in roles where beauty will only prove to be a distraction.

We have a regular viewing fare every Sunday afternoon. Of late, we couldn’t be budged in front of the television from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. for the simple reason that we are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the heart-rending saga of the love story between Eds and Rovic in “Tabing Ilog.”

To “Tabing Ilog” followers like us, Eds is Kaye Abad and Rovic is John Lloyd Cruz and they are the leading characters in the youth-oriented series and whose story is by far the most interesting in it. Perhaps one of the major factors why the show has become so successful.

There is no doubt that Kaye and John Lloyd have undeniable chemistry onscreen. They play the role of these two young people whose love for each other is so overwhelming but they couldn’t be together because fate just wouldn’t allow it.

Whenever we watch Eds and Rovic, we are struck by their power to lead us into this make-believe world of theirs. We, along with countless others, feel so sad too, shedding tears even, when a scene as simple as, Rovic entering the room with Eds looking at him with eyes that belie the sadness and hurt that she’s feeling simply because he was going to get married in a few hours, could show Eds with eyes welling up instantly, as if on cue and with Rovic easily returning the favor with an even more tearful but controlled stance.

When we got the chance to talk with Kaye Abad again in ABS-CBN during one of her press conferences for her latest movie with action veteran Fernando Poe Jr., we couldn’t help but ask her how come she cries so easily and gives off such credible dramatic performance?

The lively Kaye candidly remarked “ewan ko nga ba. Wala na kaming ginawa dun sa ‘Tabing Ilog’ kung hindi umiyak ni John Lloyd,” a response that told us that the young actress was a little bit shy to talk about how good a performance she delivers in that show.

But just to illustrate how much impact she’s been making on the viewers of “Tabing Ilog,” Kaye bagged her role in the important comeback movie of the action king FPJ via this television series.

Kaye said it was Susan Roces, wife of FPJ, who saw her in “Tabing Ilog” and in fact was the one who recommended to her husband to get her upon knowing that FPJ is in search of a young girl who will play the role of his daughter in “Batas ng Lansangan.”

Kaye said, “sinabi daw po ni Tita Susan kay Tito Ronnie, kaya pinanood ako ni Tito Ronnie sa ‘Tabing Ilog’ and from there, they decided to get me for this role.”

Kaye is very happy with the chance to work with such a veteran actor. “Noong una po siyempre ninenerbyos pero after the first day, okay na po kasi sobrang bait po ni Tito Ronnie. Very helpful siya and he took good care of me even at the set. Nung una tinanong niya ako kung ano ang paborito kong pagkain, sinabi ko po sinigang na baboy, the following day, nagpaluto po siya ng sinigang na baboy. Ganon po siya ka-thoughtful. Very considerate din po kasi pag alam niya na may scheduled taping ako the following day, inuuna niya ang eksena ko para makauwi na ako. Ang bait bait po niya.”

Kaye said the only thing that has put her to a test was the fact that she gets to speak the longer lines in the scenes that she has with FPJ. “Yung tipo bang isang sentence lang ang dialogue niya, tapos the rest sa akin na. Drama pa, umiiyak pa ko non. Ang hirap kasi minsan, iyak na ako ng iyak tapos nabubulol ako sa linya ko. Kaya uulit kami. Pero sabi niya, okay lang. After that, it got better.”

Kaye is also amazed with the fact that FPJ trusts her attack on the role she was assigned with. “It warmed my heart po kasi kahit bago lang ako sa showbiz, he gave me the freedom to experiment on some scenes and my delivery. He believed that I could do something nice about it, hindi niya ako diniktahan, which in the first place, okay lang naman,” she said with a laugh.

This will be Kaye’s second movie this year, the first being the Jolina Magdangal starrer “Kahit Ika’y Panaginip” where she played a small support role, something we felt should have been assigned to an actress of less caliber, not like Kaye.

We remember before that Kaye was kinda disappointed with her career since unlike her contemporaries, she was not given more assignments both on TV and the movies.

This time around, we felt the same discontent is still there with Kaye. Especially when she told us that to quit showbiz in the near future is part of her future plans. Saying that if ever that happens, that would mean she will be devoting her time and effort to school, we felt that deep inside her the decision is a wait and see thing, depending on the road her showbiz career will still take her.

Kaye was not prepared for the barrage of praises she instantly heard that afternoon from the members of the press. We, for one, dissuaded her from quitting.

We know that although her projects and shows may come in trickles, Kaye is recognized and unlike others, she was able to carve her name already. She’s already known. True, she may only have “Tabing Ilog” to her credit as of yet, but this exposure has given her the vehicle to make a mark in the consciousness of the public. For that alone, she’s better than most of them young stars in the stable of ABS-CBN.

And to be recognized not only as a pretty girl among so many pretty girls in a stable, and to be handpicked among those who possess real talent is indeed, something else.

We advised Kaye to hang on because we believe that she’s destined for brighter prospects this year. We were happy to see her be–dimpled smile soon after we told her that along with her bright words of gratitude.

When the subject of John Lloyd became an inevitable factor, Kaye surprised us even more with her candid honesty. They had an understanding before but due to some petty quarrels, both decided to halt the budding romance between them. We asked Kaye what were those petty quarrels about, she simply quipped, “kasi nagselos ako dati kay Sherilyn Reyes e. Nagkasama sila sa isang movie yata o show one time. Yung mga ganon. So walang nangyari.”

Right now, Kaye says that she and John Lloyd are still friends, eventhough reports have it that John Lloyd’s current girlfriend is Ciara Sotto. “He doesn’t tell me about rumors like that. I am not naman the type who would ask ano, kaya deadma lang,” she told us after being asked to comment on the issue.

Kaye however says that when she and John Lloyd became friends, she was able to get to know John Lloyd so much better that she knows he is a good person deep inside. “Something like Rovic in ‘Tabing Ilog,” she ended.

hmm...like i said, si kaye sobrang hilig manghingi ng baon ng iba, especially kung chips and juice in tetrapacks (as in zesto and chocolait). yung good friend ko na guy used to have a crush on her nung prep, so lagi naming tinutukso, pero hindi naman sha napipikon or anything, smile lang forever. atsaka lagi shang hatid-sundo by her yaya, always sakto dumadating sa school, tapos alis kagad, so hardly anyone played with her outside school time. she disappeared after prep eh, actually nakalimutan ko na sha until i saw her on tv and saw old birthday party pictures. i doubt she'll remember me. we always thought she transferred to woodrose.

anyway, feeling ko eds will end up with rovic pa rin, kasi yung plans yata ng abs is to pair rafael rossel with jolina. kaye said as much when she was interviewed on tv.

Hmm.. Rafael is not gonna be paired up with Jolina anymore. I think dati yon when they had that movie, after noon change na ang Abs.

I think Jolina and Marvin(my labs) are gonna be back together again. Lately, nagkakasama sila on cam when it's been a year na pinagseparate sila ng Abs without any reasons. I think they're gonna do a movie soon. Hopefully.

Minsan nga simple lang siya kung manamit. May figure naman siya. Probably bec of her sponsor kaya she wears simple clothes sa guestings. Don't know what clothesline. Anwyays, nakita ko siya sa isang awards night. (tv of course). She wsa wearing a blue gown. She looked elegant that night and i think it was Startalk that said nice things about her.

Today, Tuesday ay ang first taping day ni Kaye Abad for Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan. Yes, pasok si Kaye sa isa sa pinaka-toprating soap opera ng ABS-CBN. Excited ang aktres when told na papasok na siya sa nasabing soap opera. Kakaiba ang karakter ni Kaye sa SDWH kumpara sa Tabing Ilog.

Hindi namin idi-divulge kung paano tatakbo ang karakter ni Kaye sa SDWH basta ang sigurado kami, very exciting ito. This time, walang John Lloyd Cruz na ka-loveteam. Tutal cast din naman ng SDWH si Dennis Trillo na ipini-pair sa kanya.

Ang narinig namin, ang pagpasok ni Kaye sa primetime soap ay preparation for a bigger plans ng network sa kanya. Heard na kung paano’ng plinano ang career nina Claudine Barretto at Kristine Hermosa at gano’n din ang gagawin kay Kaye.

Marami ang natutuwa sa development na ito sa career ni Kaye. Sa totoo lang, isa si Kaye sa masasabi naming pinakamahusay sa kuwadra ng ABS-CBN Talent Center. Medyo long overdue na nga ang developments na ito pero at least, abot-kamay na niya ang pinakaaasam na stardom.

Hindi na siguro matutuloy ang plano ni Kaye na mag-quit ng showbiz ngayong siya naman ang pagtutuunan ng pansin ng kanyang mother studio sa loob ng 7 years. Happy kami para kay Kaye na isa sa mga paborito naming aktres.

I enjoy watching Kaye on TFC here in the states. I wish that ABS-CBN will give her more shows. I also like the guys that she is being paired with especially Rafael - bagay silang dalawa. I also would like to see her do a show with Jericho Rosales (no offense to Kristine Hermosa). They look great together, there's chemistry on the screen (parehong filipino looks) Pareho pa silang magaling na artista. I saw a picture of them together in a magazine and they complement each other's looks - pareho pa ang mga smiles nila.

I heard(this is just a rumor) that they're replacing Pangako Sa Yo with another soap starring Jericho. They're still looking for the leading lady. Since the role calls for someone who can sing, the rumor is that they're deciding between Carol Banawa and Kaye Abad. As much as I love Carol Banawa(she's awesome), I hope they give it to Kaye Abad because it's about time she's given a big break. I think they would have an amazing chemistry. Kaye is sucha good actress.. when it comes to serious scenes and crying scenes. Bigay na bigay. It's amazing how she and JohnLCruz can do a scene without having to say a word, walk-away and make you feeling like you know how they're feeling! Di ba?! I think that puts them up there on the charts for Ideal Actor/Actress!! yeah! hehe.

Also, I've been wanting to get her album. Even though it is old. Just wondering if any of you have it, so you could give me an idea as to whether i should really buy it or not.

I mean, I'm thinking of really buying it online, I'm pretty sure she has a great voice, coz I heard her on ASAP a few or more times when she guested with Tabing Ilog cast.

Underrated and Underused

Totally agree! It sucks that she always plays these weak characters that just weep to no end. She's been stuck in mediocre TV shows and it's just a waste. She's a brilliaint actress and she really deserves a chance to show it in a more challenging role. The biggest credit she ever had was her role as a prostitue in Maalaala Mo Kaya which she got critical acclaim for. ABS-CBN is just so scared to take the risk. She's one so deserving of that break. She's been there since 1996 and they have not done anything to the incredible talent that they have. Sige sila. She's been thinking of quitting showbusiness altogether to pursue her studies. Give her the credit before it's too late!

Agree that she deserves a big break. But maybe not "Bituin" cause it's more musically-inclined and Carol is probably the perfect fit for that.

Eto na nga may talent...Di ba na-recognize na nga siya for "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and "Mila"?...loyal pa...all she needs is more exposure and some "hype".

tama ka sa choice of words mo na "ipinilit" sa daily soap. kaya bad trip yung mga taong may gusto sa kanya...nasa SOAP nga siya pero wala naman talagang saysay yun...the part was just thought of at the last second...it wasn't like integral from the beginning, neither was it specifically written for her. She was put there for the salvation of what's left of Carlos Agassi's "career" as a dramatic actor, as well as aid in a putting a halt to the plunging ratings of that specific soap.

i think she can do other stuff besides crying. kaso nga...yun lang ang pinapagawa sa kanya...sa Tabing Ilog, the life of her character is so tragic. If that were my life, I'd rather commit suicide.
