advisable ba for a fresh grad to apply for a job that has experience requirements? kahit yung tipong 1 year lang ang hinihingi? o suntok ba yon sa buwan?

I personally WOULD apply, that is if you firmly believe that you fit the job, that you can do it.

You can always try to apply and indicate in your cover letter that though you don't have the experience yet, you believe with your...extra-curricular activities, academic background, ojt experience, you can do it. :) think of it as a challenge, maybe they would call you for an interview and it's one interview-practice for you :)

According to an HR-Friend:

"It is always advisable for a new or fresh graduate to apply for a job with experience requirements. My philosophy is that as a new graduate, you should learn the ropes of the corporate life. Experience counts a lot as time goes by. So whatever experience you can grab, I suggest you go for it."

Goodluck!

thanks, Leigh. pero mangungulit pa ako, ok lang?

tungkol sa tone ng cover letter, sound proud or be humble? also, should i just highlight my skills, qualifications, etc. or should i start the letter by saying i may lack the experience or i may come from a different field BUT...

Somebody said something like this before: "Always be confident, but never too proud", i believe this also follows with regards to the cover letter.

Regarding your specific question, it's advisable that you mention your qualifications FIRST, so that they will "be interested" to look at your resume and mention also that you lack something but then you are willing to make up for it :)

goodluck to you. I hope this helps.

DarkCircles, you're certainly asking the right person..! Pero actually, Leigh doesn't apply to companies.. Companies apply to hire her! She's good kasi eh :) has a pleasing personality :) and is very confident in her abilities :)

That's why companies fall all over themselves to hire her..! ;)

The line between "confident" and "too proud" is very fine and easy to cross. As a practical matter, when there is some doubt about the tone of a cover letter it is a good idea to have a third party (friend, relative, PinoyExchange member, etc) review and comment on it.

The first and only time I wrote an application letter was for my first job. After that, it was all up to the kindness of colleagues and friends. You must learn to like your job and DO IT WELL. Once people get to see you in action and they like what they see, the next job comes easy with or without an application letter. Sometimes all it takes to get you into the big ticket is a phone call or a short note exchanged between two employers that says "you're the man/woman for the job."

Hope there's some grain of wisdom in what I just told you. Anyway, good luck!

The thing about experience is you can always associate a number of your past experiences inderectly with what is being asked for. A lot of it depends on positioning.

Sabi nga ng isang pilosopo:

"Kung ano mang gusto mong ilagay sa resume mo, isulat mo pero dapat lahat ng inilagay mo kaya mong panindigan and alam mong patunayan!"

In short, as long as you feel that you are apt for the job and your skills are versatile enough to fit the job description then go for it! Take note that most companies now need more of fresh minds like yourself to reolace some of the rotten apples in their baskets! :rocker:
