The Civil Service Commission administers the Career Service Professional and Subprofessional exams in two ways:
PPT - Paper and Pencil Test
CAT - Computer Assisted Test

The next PPT tests are scheduled for 15 July and 14 October 2001. CATs are administered on a walk-in basis at any of the CSC's 14 regional offices. I suggest you consult the CSC website for details. The link is provided below.

i took the computer assisted test about 2years ago for professional. it's difficult and the questions ranged from math, vocabulary, science to goverment, history, etc. i think they covered almost all aspects. and the passing rate is low. among the 27 examinees who took the exam, only 5 passed including me :D (thank god!). don't worry though, co'z you can take the exam as many times as you want just pay the corresponding fee (P250, i think).

good luck!

if ur a UP grad and u graduated with honors, you're exempted from the Civil Service Exam

just get a certification from the Reg Office. The Civil Service office also has a copy of those who are exempted from taking the test

i will take an CAT test sa Civil Service kaya lang pwede nyo ba sabihin ang mga tanong na lalabas sa Exam para hindi na ako maguluhan sa rereviewing ko? May nabibili bang review booklet sa Civil Service CAT Test?

I took the CAT 3 years ago. Most people find it difficult but if you are a wide reader and can read and think quick, then you shouldn't have any problem.

It's really like taking a longer version of an IQ test. Most find the reading comprehension part the hardest. There's also math, vocabulary, abstract (if i remember correctly), etc.

Passing grade is 80%+ (can't remember the exact figure). Many fail on their first take (but I didn't - even got a 'pretty decent score) :D

Para lang IQ test ito. No need to review.

Naka-89 ako. ^-^

question ko lang, pagna failed ka sa unang exam mo sa CAT...(lets say monday...the following day Tuesday...pwede ka na rin bang magEXAM uli)?....

 AbStain

answered your mail. :teehee:

if there's a sked for the next day and an available spot, then you can take the exam immediately. just pay for the exam fee and get your permit.

may mga requirements na you should submit before you can take the exam. you need 2x2 pic & (not sure) birth certificate. tapos you will fill up a form.

well anyways, i took the prof exam last june and surprisingly, i passed! hehe!:glee:

okay lang naman yung test, medyo mahirap..i never thought i'd pass!

here's the scope of Examinations

The examinations will cover the following subject areas:

Career Service Professional - In English and Filipino: vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analogy, logic, and numerical reasoning
Career Service Subprofessional - In English and Filipino: vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, clerical operations, and numerical reasoning

Both professional and subprofessional levels of the examinations will have general information questions on the following areas:

Philippine Constitution, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713), peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection

To be considered eligible, an examinee must obtain a rating not lower than eighty percent (80%).

hope that helps! ;)

Ang Professional, you can be eligible for any Position or Office in the Government. Ang Sub-Professional, for Clerical and General Office Jobs. The difference sa exams naman, mas mahaba ang exams for the Professional Level. Also, ang Passing Score ng Professional is 85%. 80% ang Passing ng Sub-Professional. I already took the Professional Exam, and passed it.

i flunked the computerized test before, then take agad ako ng written... pasado naman. wala kasing pressure, yun nga lang halos whole day ka na nasa testing center, then hahanapin mo pa kung saan venue mo, not like sa computerized... sa head office (Banawe in QC) ka mismo.

I took the exam last month and thankfully, nakapasa naman =) The test is similar to college entrance exam so merong mga sentence sequencing, algebra, reading graphs, etc. you also need basic knoweldge on the constitution. You can find reviewers for this exam in National Bookstore. I borrowed my friend's copy and it really helped.

good luck!

in the exam that i took (professional eligibility)...mas maraming questions for english. mga 30 questions lang ata yung related sa math...sa math naman, may questions on fractions, area, wage/salary. sa english...arrange ka ng sentences to create a more comprehensible na paragraph, grammar, subject-verb agreement

Hi there.....

Can anyone give me information about civil service exams, preferably yung earliest.

So I would like to know if anyone here is aware of any earlier Civil Service Exam Computer Aided sa mga provinces. Baka doon na lang ako kumuha! I need to take it badly ASAP.

Jul 3, 2004, 12:01 PM

:glee:

You will need to pass Civil Service Exam (CSE) Professional if you want to get a job from a government agency/department (like Department of Justice, Department of Tourism, etc).

I wanted to apply to DoJ before but i never got my foot on its door because i didnt have my CSE yet back then. Most, if not all, agencies require their job applicants to be "professionally eligible".

So i took the test and passed it convincingly. I got the letter (certificate of eligibility) few weeks later.

The exam was pretty easy (I took the Computer Aided). It's like a basic college entrance exam or something. I nearly even fell asleep at one point. :D

Good luck!

Subjects covered during the exam Math, Reading Comprehension, English Composition, Current Events and Logic. Time is of the essence, so don't stay on one question longer than 2 mins. each. Finish all the questionnares and don't leave any blanks. The reviewers being sold in National Bookstore is enough for the exams na. Don't look for any leakage coz binago na ang sets of question for this year. If all things fail, make an intelligent guess. Sleep early and phase yourself during the exam. Usually una ang math, reading comprehension and english composition to burn you out, tapos mas madali na yung current events and logic. good luck

I took Civil Service kasi unemployed ako that time and I want to give it a shot sa goverment. I pass the test.

Close to 100,000 take career service exams; CSC stresses important reminders
http://www.csc.gov.ph/

CLOSE to 100,000 individuals will take the Career Service Professional and Subprofessional written examinations to be administered by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in 39 testing centers nationwide this Sunday, Oct. 16.

Of this figure, 83.88% or 81,672 examinees will take the professional level while 16.12% or 15,695 will take the sub-professional test. A three-hour test, the Career Service examination basically aims to measure verbal, analytical, numerical and clerical skills. It also includes general information questions on the Philippine Constitution, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713), peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection.

The CSC reported that the National Capital Region (NCR) posted the biggest number of aspirants at a total of 17,942. Other regions in the country with large number of examinees include Southern Tagalog—10,669 examinees; Central Luzon—6,897; Western Visayas—6,750; Northern Mindanao—6,583; Central Visayas—6,214; and Ilocos Region—6,077.

All examinees must be at their assigned examination center at least an hour before the start of the exam for the preliminary requirements. Examination starts at exactly 8:00 a.m. Once the examination has started, strictly no latecomer is admitted. The CSC stressed that failure to come on the scheduled examination will mean forfeiture of examination fee and slot. No request for re-scheduling is allowed.

On examination day, examinees should bring the following items: their examination permit or notice of admission/assignment; the same valid ID card they presented upon filing of application; lead pencils and erasers; and blue or black ball pen. Those who did not submit complete set of ID pictures upon filing of application should bring two pieces of identical, passport sized (1 1/2”x 2”) ID pictures with full name tag, taken within the last three months. Scanned, computer-generated, photocopied and cutout pictures, and pictures without nametags will not be accepted.

Also, examinees are strongly advised not to bring mobile or cellular phones as these are strictly prohibited during the examination. Otherwise, mobile phones shall be surrendered to room examiners.

The CSC sternly warns examinees against cheating, collusion, impersonation or any other form of examination fraud, stressing that anybody caught perpetrating any act of examination irregularity shall be dealt with accordingly. Those found guilty of an examination offense shall be meted out penalties such as dismissal from government service, cancellation of examination results and eligibility, perpetual disqualification to take civil service examinations, perpetual disqualification from holding public office, and imprisonment.

Passing the Career Service examinations would result in the conferment of either Professional or Subprofessional eligibility that is needed for appointment, among others, to second level and first level government positions, respectively. Second level positions refer to professional, technical and scientific positions while first level positions cover clerical, trades, crafts and custodial service positions. Passing rate is 80.

alang inooffer ng computerized exam at the time, so id rather wait for the result WITHIN for 3 months rather than wait for an instant result test that hasnt even been announced

Yup, I agree. I bet Civil Service Commission (CSC) really made the test more difficult this year... and probably will make it that way in the years to come.

...para nga naman kaunti lang ang pumasa. Wala naman kasing pansweldo ang gobyerno. At freeze hiring pa sila ngayon?

:naughty:

just took the paper and pencil test nung april..i think 90 out 150 items was about English (grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary, etc.)

then 30 or 40 items sa math (sequences, algebra, and some logic problems)

then mga 10 or so items on the Phil. Constitution

and you'll also encounter a sprinkling of Filipino language questions

Kaya nga nagexam para may chance kang makapasok sa government di ba. nag take ako ng civil service prof exam nung 2001. passing is 80%. i got 88%, which qualified me to take the "best for bureaucratic placement" exam, or BBP.

Syempre yun may backer. :grrr:

sa isang posisyon, yong pagpostpost nila ng hiring is just formality sake.
sa provincial government, its the Governor or vice-governor who will appoint
you. I worked 5 years in the provincial government under the department of budget and management. I had already a CSC eligibility that time when I started to work.
My father was a retired provincial budget officer and also the provincial governor
they employed me first as contractual worker for 3 mos. then they opened the
vacant position for me..ayon pasok agad sa goberno as regular employee.. after few months, na promote.wow.. sarap naman..

after change of administration... may vacant na naman sa office namin, which is ako

Ang exam is just an IQ test. Wag nyo isipin na kung papasa ka may trabaho ka na agad.. hehe..just consider it na additional
factor sa resume mo..

Hello guys, I don't know if this is the right forum to post this kind of topic but anyway...

Hmm, a few months back, my parents really urged me to take the CSE basically because my undergraduate degree doesn't have a typical "board exam". As of now, I'm 18 years old and a college sophomore.

I'm going to take the CSE this coming March 28.

Okay, I'm very very pressured. I'm sensing that my parents are really expecting me to pass the CSE. Recently, I bought myself two CSE reviewers for the sake of having an idea of what will come out in the exam.

I've always been an "average" type of guy. I'm nowhere near genius but I can manage with my academic work (I find my name in the dean's list occasionally :D). I consider English as my forte but I'm a little bit slow when it comes to math. Abstract reasoning? Hmm... I'd say average. My CSAT would categorize me as above average but I think other IQ tests would say "average" still. Waaa worried na talaga ako. :mecry: I don't want to disappoint my parents or something like that by failing the CSE. I really hope I can pass... With that...

Any tips? Is it really difficult? I saw in the website that the passing mark is 80. To add to that, my school requirements are bugging me. I can't find enough time to study for the CSE. Please enlighten me. :unhappy:

i passed the CSE prof last 2008 walang review review hehe
i just got some words of wisdom from my friends before i took the exam. pag aralan mo yung math, konti from the constitution, yung mga pattern. mahirap pa din makahanap ng position sa gov't kase dinadaan sa padrino pero pag nakapasok ka na at eligible talagang ikaw ang priority for promotion sila hanggang casual level lang :naughty:

Waw congrats :)

Uhm, may I ask... from a scale of 1-10, can please rate the CSE difficulty (with 10 being the most difficult)?

I'm very worried na. My classmate's sister took the CSE 3 abou times already and still, no passing score... Pero iba naman, 1 take lang. Huhu.

Okay I just have to say this. My parents are really pissing me off now. Everyday, they seem to mention the CSE. :hmm::hmm::hmm:

Is it true na mas mahirap ang reviewer ng CSE compared to the CSE itself?

:rotflmao: Medyo basahin mo rin yung RA 6713, yung Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials. :) Good luck.

@ CollegeKid,
There are reviewers you can buy at National Book Store, It's quite cheap so I don't think it will hurt getting one. Maybe vendors in Recto also has those.

can somebody confirm if there's an expiration of csc certification? I'm planning to take it up.

I've heard it only lasts for 3 years if you don't use it.

RESULTS ARE OUT! http://www.csc.gov.ph/cscweb/exam_results.html

Mga ate at kuya, I can still remember, sa mga previous pages, na kinakabahan ako about sa exam kasi ang taas po ng passing rate. Pero I PASSED THE CS EXAM!
