i'm currently in Canada right now and i'd recommend you working @ U.S. instead of Canada. Why? 1st of all, U.S. dollar is stronger than the loonie, 2nd, Taxes over here will take 40-60% of what you earn..suckz doesn't it? 3rdly..did i mention taxes?? We hate Taxes but..it's also what makes canada better than the U.S. in several wayz like transportation, medical, insurance etc...
and you'd make more money in the states than Canada.

thanks StuDmuFFin! that will be of good help. i'm studying all my options and i believe many PEXers will also be enlighten.
by the way, in which part of Canada are you? does taxes varies depends on your location?
last question, beg me =). is it true that after three years of being an immigrant you have an option to avail a "dual visa",american and canadian?
thanks!
anymore replys?!

im in B.C. I think all provinces/territories have all the same tax percentage.
hhmm..I'm sure if u you are an immigrant of canada you can get a U.S. visa easy. That's how some ppl would aquire a U.S. visa by applying a Canadian citizenship or working visa or etc.

Well these statements were based from seminars that I have attended regarding Canada and U.S.
Canada:
1) Human rights are well respected, less Crime rates, and people are being paid when they sue somebody who violated their rights. Like for example
a) In a train their is this button wherein if somebody harassed you, you just have to press that button and the driver will stop the train and approach you.
b) If your dentist scratch your gums you can sue him and earn money same as barbers etc..
In Short people there are SUE HAPPY
2) Necessities are very cheap and some Canadians leave their old appliances outside and buy a brand new one. As well as food are very cheap
3) Free hospitalzation and education. Even a BUM has a salary from the government
4) Population in the Philippines is greater than the Canada so they are really in need of people
5) Companies are in need of skilled workers
6) Canadian Visa is more Flexible than US visa.
Lastly many Americans are migrating from the US to Canada because of those reasons and New York state is a bridge away from Toronto.
US:
1) The dollar rate of course in US is better that Canada
2) Tax from the Eastern Part (New York etc..) are greater than Western Part. (40% I think)
3) Goods and supplies are definitely expensive than Canada
4) More jobs to offer
5) It's hard to migrate in the US due to their population and millions of people wants to live their
6)Crime Rates are greater than Canada
Lastly many SKILLED Canadians are migrating from Canada to US because of High Salaries compared to Canada
Please enlighten us if these statements that I have known are all true and pls add more advantages and disadvantages because currently my US petition is delayed by two or more years and my dad is suggesting me to migrate first in Canada.
Do you know any US or Canadian agency here in the Philippines?
Jazzy and StuDmuFFin do you know some agencies?

Thanks Aga for the reply, how's your wedding? =)
well, i have some friends and former officemates who are now working in New York and indeed taxes are high, around 30-40% of your salary.
i believe all the information that was given to u thru that seminar is true, though there are some exceptions.
I know a firm that will help you migrate to Canada. I can email to you to complete contact information if you're interested.

yes, i'm also considering to live in canada. kakapass ko lang last may sa canadian embassy and now i'm waiting for the result. parang napakatagal nga bago sila sumagot. nakakapagod nga mabuhay dito sa pinas. is it true na it's easy to find a job there in canada as long na di ka mapili?

less Crime rates true, although to be honest, it's on the rise due to the growing population,
and people are being paid when they sue somebody who violated their rights. true, but this is also true for the U.S. in fact, you'll probably end up with a bigger cash settlement over there!:)
2) Necessities are very cheap and some Canadians leave their old appliances outside and buy a brand new one.mmm...this is common practice among Americans, too. mas kuripot nga ang mga canadians eh, so they are less likely to part with their stuff!:D As well as food are very cheap this one's comparative as well.
3) Free hospitalzation and education.not entirely. a comprehensive medical plan is compulsory in most provinces but you normally have to pay a monthly premium (C$36 single/ C$72 family, in BC) unless you really can't afford it, in which case you can apply for financial aid.Even a BUM has a salary from the government it's not a salary but if you have worked for more than 6 months, you are eligible for unemployment insurance. they also run some programs to train you and help you find a job.
4) Population in the Philippines is greater than the Canada so they are really in need of people true. about 25 to 30M versus 76M in the philippines. and canada is twice the size of the U.S. mainland, in terms of land area to give you an idea. grabe, noh?
5) Companies are in need of skilled workerstrue. especially nurses and other health workers.
6) Canadian Visa is more Flexible than US visa.not sure what you mean by this.
Lastly many Americans are migrating from the US to Canada because of those reasons and New York state is a bridge away from Toronto.
US:
1) The dollar rate of course in US is better that Canada approx. US$1=C$1.50
2) Tax from the Eastern Part (New York etc..) are greater than Western Part. (40% I think)it varies per state.
3) Goods and supplies are definitely expensive than Canadagroceries are comparable i.e. the same item costs more or less the same, give or take a few cents but canadian sales taxes are double because they charge a PST (provincial) and a GST (government).
4) More jobs to offer very true.
5) It's hard to migrate in the US due to their population and millions of people wants to live their also true.
6)Crime Rates are greater than Canada
Lastly many SKILLED Canadians are migrating from Canada to US because of High Salaries compared to Canada very, very true.
you mean nobody mentioned the weather? winters are generally longer and colder in canada, unless of course you're in alaska.:D other than that...sorry, can't think of any other major differences. it's hard to make sweeping generalisations because conditions vary for the different parts of both countries, but if you have more questions, i'll try to answer them.:)

it really depends on you. a lot of people are satisfied with the lives they've made for themselves in either country but there are others still who never quite get over moving away.:(
