Ice Burn

I noticed a lot of people going striaght to the gym for Weight Training, Taebo, Aerobics, Martial arts and so forth, after work. I'm considering it myself. :)
So, how many of you workout after office hours? :)

I try to vary my workouts. From basketball to swimming to weight training. I get bored if my exercise is repetitive. Not very rigorous for each one, but it keeps my weight in check. =)

need a workout support group...
yeee
May 30, 2001, 08:00 PM
yeah thats a great idea zimdude! A workout support group nga naman. Like we see each other after office hours, have a specific program iba iba araw araw like we jog this day and the next day we do this stuff blah blah blah, or better yet we can enroll altogether in one gym. This idea is nice, para maengganyo naman lahat tayo diba?

I swim at least 2 kms 3x a week after work and play golf once a week before work or during weekends. Oftentimes I get home late or I find it hard to fit swimming in my schedule, so I often end up swimming at around 9 or 10 pm at night. I guess that if you have enough determination to see it through, you'll be able to fit exercise into your schedule, no matter how hectic your lifestyle is.

i think that running from one classroom to another, standing and walking hours after hours in a lecture class is enough exercise

I used to at first...but I've stopped and haven't gone back to the gym eversince. Pinagtataguan ko na nga yung trainer ko eh, whenever I see him, I literally duck!! :D It's fun to work out, I feel more energized after every work-out. Prob is that I've been so lazy for the past few months. Oh well.
zimdude
May 31, 2001, 06:14 AM
yup determination is the key - I have to work on that!!
yeee that's a good idea, even if we don't work out together, we can check on each other if we've done our workout for the day, no?

I actually enrolled in a gym near my office pero i haven't been going these past few weeks - daming work. Yeah i agree that it really feels different if you workout tapos swimming sa huli - okay for the muscles and the entire body...kung minsan nga lang nakakatamad.

Yeah kuya danny, depends on the program. Like when i just do 45 minute jogging, i dont get into trouble sleeping, but if, say, 45 minutes jogging plus a hard game of soccer, yan, i sleep for like 4 hours na lang then off to work. kaya ussually, sundays na lang ako nag s-sweat out.

I work out BEFORE work. I need something to wake me up. :D I also work out during lunch if I don't make it early in the morning.
Puno kasi ang gym after work, eh. You have to wait a long time to use a machine or the treadmill. I only work out after office hours if I get off work early and am meeting my friends for a gimmick later in the evening or something like that.
OK ang Paramount (along Salcedo St.). Konti nga lang ang shower stalls kaya nakakainis maghintay, esp. on days when there are aerobics sessions. The trainers are really nice. They let you do your workout on your own but assist you every now and then...hindi todo bantay, unless you want it that way. *okay*

Yup. Even have a schedule so i workout religiously.
saturday - morning - tennis
saturday - night - go to the gym
aero - jumprope, stationary bike, threadmill
free weights
monday - night - gym (same as monday)
wednesday - night - gym(same as monday)
thursday - night - volleyball
The only concern I have is that when you workout at night, its difficult to sleep right after(as you still have to eat) your metabolism rate is high.

Monthly fee is around P1,500. That's unlimited use of the workout machines, tae bo, aerobics. I'm not sure of the fees for other programs. You can ask them at 8138977 or 8935286

i used to work out in paramount and it's good. i usually work out in the morning there so there's not much people - just the usual people. my instructors back then were john and henry.
but these days, my workouts are in the evening (until 12mn) and it takes me around 1am (at best) or 2am (at worst) to sleep. still okay though since i'm just 20 minutes away from work.
so as to what time? i usually base it on the number of people since i don't want it too crowded. i just wish that calfitness would lower their price. :(

i try to run after work, if time permits. the past couple of weeks, i've been at work until 10pm and i could only squeeze in my run during the weekends. i was scouting out for good gyms near my apartment, this one that claims to be the number one gym in Manhattan(where all the top wall street guys and yes, even celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna work out) is so expensive...117 dollars a month!! :eeek: but heck, the fee includes all the classes(yoga, pilates, spinning, aerobics, tae-bo among others), spa services, no time limits for equipment and machines...what do u think? should i join? my personal opinion is i don't even have time for myself most of the time and i think the price is too steep...me being a clothes obsessed would rather spend the money for a nice bag from Coach or pants from Marc Jacobs. I really want to workout but I am no fanatic.

zimdude-117 is A LOT. a typical gym costs 50 to 70...sana kung gym lang gastos ko..but i pay for rent(which is CRAZY in manhattan), utilities, credit card bills, food, clothes(hehe ok, majority of my money goes to here)..117 is a lot in any young manhattanites' book(unless, you're living off a trust fund..and i don't)

Hey Heartlight
There's a new job very near Tower One - it's called Fitness First in the spanking new JG Summit Building. THat's the building beside Insular Life. Tatawid ka lang ng Pase de Roxas.
Try to enroll right away ok? Kasi they have a no membership fee promo as of now - that's Php 10,000 off.
You only pay the Php 1,200 one-time fee and the Php 1850 monthly fee. They'll give you a goodie bag with towels, drinking bottle and vouchers for massage, etc.
The monthly fee includes a personalized training schedule and unlimited yung taebop, yoga, pilates, kickboxing. They have a lot of equipment so I guess you don't have to wait for your turn all the time.
It's on the 8/F
I just started this week - looks great, they have sauna and spa services. The spa services are not inclusive of the monthly fee though.

I workout everyday after work. And i also go to my gym every morning around 6am to do weight lifting during MWF and for TTH i only do cardiovascular exercise and crunches. Then i go back after office to join their taebo and aerobic classes. hehe takaw ko ba sa workout??? Ala lang kesa naman rumampa rampa ko sa glorietta magagastusan lang ako.
It takes a lot of hardwork and determination to do this. Pero nasanay na ko kaya tuloy tuloy ko na anyway i already consider it as a healthy lifestyle. And ive already lose weight.
Im working out in lower level of Makati Sq. P1200 monthly fee unlimited gym/taebo/aerobic class. The facilities is not that good but for the a start up it will do just fine besides you just have to try it first if you can really manage to attend ur classes. I want to look at that gym in JG Summit Bldg, coz i also want to try pilates. It will make ur muscles look longer daw unlike sa gym na merong bulk.
Anyway konting tyaga lang.... GOODLUCK!

Been workin out at Fitness First for a couple of weeks already and I have to say that it was WAY better than the gym I used to go to. I just hope that the trainers would spend more time overseeing the gym-goers and assisting people on BOTH floors rather than huddling in a corner talking amongst themselves. Maybe that's the reason why a couple of their machines broke, none of them were around to teach some of the new members how to use specific machines. Aside from that, no complaints from me since I can manage on my own.

About the machines, I just heard this morning that the treadmills are connected to one circuit breaker, so if one goes "kaput" the rest goes with it. They assured us that they are in the process installing more breakers.*okay*

I've been doing taebo for about 7 weeks now. I enrolled in a gym near our house (a 20 minute walk) and it's been great so far. I've lost 15 pounds so far (I used to weight 140 lbs.) kaya happy naman ako.
I want to try weights soon but I have to consult a doctor first cause I have scoliosis. Baka magka slipped disc ako. Anyway, my taebo classes are MWF from 7 to 830pm so that's 4.5 hours each week tapos I recently took up badminton every weekend--mga 2 to 3 hours every Saturday. I guess it's not bad na rin. I'm one big pain most of the time (due to all the muscle aches) but I think it's worth it.
I also want to try swimming, even if I'm not a very good swimmer. It'll also be good for my lungs kasi. Do you know any great swimming pools near the QC area?

I prefer working out in the mornings at around 6am but evening work outs are ok if you have no other time.
I'm a member at Fitness First in Sydney. It's a huge facility. Downstairs there are three workout studio's (one used specifically for Spin Classes), a weights area, and a circuit area. Upstairs it's mainly the cardio workout machines and the juice bar. The change rooms have a Steam Room as well.

I work out at Fitness First Eastwood Libis. It's great! I work out in the mornings. I have just started and will give their basic gym program for 3 months a chance, and after that I will embark on my own gym routine. Did u people know that it's possible to work out with weights for only 45 minutes or up to 1 hour only? Whole body workout na iyon! High intensity pa! It doesn't hurt as much as a whole body workout that takes 2 hours or so, but you can feel the training effect on your muscles. OK di ba? It's called HIT or High Intensity Training, where you do only 1 set per exercise pero you do each rep slowly (2 seconds going up, 4 seconds goin down) kaya that ups the intensity kahit na 1 set lang each. Time consumed per workout? 45 minutes or even less pa, 30 minutes!
The good news about it pa, is that you don't work out for 3 or 4 times a week. You are supposed to work out only 1-2 times a week using HIT.
Visit the websites regarding HIT at www.cyberpump.com and look up also Dorian Yates and Mike Mentzer, 2 former bodybuilding champions who acquired their great builds with HIT! Athletic coaches in American univerisities now use HIT since they'd rather use the time resting and training and studying for school than working out.
BTW, I'm looking for training partners who want to learn Filipino martial arts (arnis/kali). That's stickfighting, knife fighting, bladed weapons, empty handed kicking, striking, boxing, and long pole fighting. The website is www.pekiti-tirsia.net and also this one at www.rochesterkali.com so if ur interested and live in or near QC, pls text me 0917 817 0373. We train Sunday mornings at UP Diliman.

i started working out a week ago with a couple of people from the office.
it's better to work out, at least for me, when you have a couple of people with you or kahit isang friend lang. mas masaya yun eh, kesa yung mag-isa ka.

I just want to get your opinions about taking a shower after working out. Is it okey? Does it have to be warm or cold water?
Thanks!

I usually just take off my shirt ,shoes and socks and just relax for around 5 minutes...and then hit the showers (I prefer warm water). I can't go out knowing that I smell like sweat.

Is anyone here a member of that gym in JGSummit Bldg. along Ayala? I think it's called Fitness First. I'm interested. Details naman please. Thanks. :)
Hi Solace!
I work out at Fitness First in the morning.
They have great facilities and recently just added more
Weight-training Machines. I just have a problem with their shower
stalls recently, a lot of them have broken locks. You just have to watch
out for people suddenly opening your shower stall... hehe.
And, it would be better if they had gym trainers in the morning.

i think there's one along valero... walking distance lang from rcbc.. mga P1200 din ata dun.. i forgot the name eh, premiere ata tawag dun..
or, if your budget is really tight, you could go for 1 yr contract at slimmers world, may promo ata sila at P8000 for 1 yr.

Twice or three times a week after office hours, till 8 pm, dito sa office gym.
Wish i could supplement it with some golf, but i'm still too poor to afford it...

I work out at rcbc plaza. I think 10k ang lifetime membership tapos 2k - 2750 a month ang monthly dues. depende sa level ng membership na gusto mo.
2k - 10am to 4am only
2500 - not allowed from 6pm-8pm
2750 - no restrictions
