Hi everyone, every time i watch tfc i always find things to laugh about. Lalo na yung mga celebs who try hard to speak english. Go ahead and post some stuff that you've seen.
For instance:
I was watching Jessa Zaragosa being interviewed by Kris Aquino. Kris asked her to say 3 nice words about DingDong. And she said, “ Actually, one word lang eh, MY LIFE.” Ngek, di marunong mag bilang!!!

Although it turns me off sometimes that Regine tries to talk with an American accent, i would like to correct what mytyragirl wrote. :) Regine didn't commit any blunder a while ago. She said, "Pardon my French ha...i don't even know if i can say it on tv...but i think it's stupid." (She was referring to the chismis that some viva artists are leaving the company because it's only regine they're giving projects to. So Regine said that it's 'stupid' for some people to make up that story when they know that companies don't invest on the artist's talents if they think they can't recoup whatever investment they've made...so she just explained that it's impossible for viva to have gotten the services of jaya and the others if they won't be given projects by the company)

I think there's this western expression that you say "pardon my french" after you curse. I think Regine was trying to use that expression but was just a tad bit off...

You only use "Pardon my French" pag talagang bad word na sasabihin mo. Hindi curse word ang 'stupid'. Katulad sa "Blast From the Past". Adam's mom said the word "$hit". I really don't see the point of criticizing Regine over her use of the "pardon my french" expression. Baka naman para sa kanya bad word na yung sabihing 'stupid'. What may be bad to me may not be bad to another person...so it's just relative. In fact she was hesitant in saying the word on-cam, so much so that she seemed apologetic that is why she used the aforementioned expression. So i think there was no intention on her part na magmagaling sa inggles (but of course the pronunciation of some of her words is another thing..hehe):D

darcy , polite nga sila.:) But that's how some operators really do their greetings nowadays. Pag "hi, may i help you" lang kasi, diba ibig sabihin n'on, "hi, anong matutulong ko sa'yo?". Pero kung "hi, how may i help you" na, "sa paanong paraan kita matutulungan?"...dinidirecho na kagad.;)

hindi po darci, kasi naman yung may saka can have 2 entirely different meanings. when you say can i help you?, it's like saying "kaya ba kitang tulungan?". when you say may i help you? it means, "pwede ba kitang tulungan?"

so tama lang na sabihin na may i help you, as far as grammar or what-nots is concerned. we just got used to saying can i help you, parang mas easier kasi.

Korekek!! I remembered a film by Claire Forlani and Freddie Prinze Jr. (Boys and Girls ata). Sa plane, a stewardess asked Freddie's character ng "Can I help you?" I beg to disagree also. Hindi bobing si Jericho Rosales. I've interviewed him a lot of times and he's definitely not "bobing". He may not be quite as fluent as our amboy actors (because i don't think he finished school and diba, naging karagador nga si Jericho sa palengke), but he certainly has a lot of sense in him.

That's my own opinion anyway. :)

Nai-tape ko ang Sharon episode na sinasabi mo na guests sina Echo & Tin and Echo was so sincere in describing how he feels for Tin. Sinabi na nga ni Echo earlier na nagiging makata siya pag in love kaya nai-compare niya si Tin sa night sky, moon and stars na hilig nilang tingnan parati ni Tin. Iyon ang passion nila ni Tin. Kaya nga ang sabi ni Sharon ay nagiging makata na naman si Echo (kasi nga in love). Lahat naman sila ay nagsasalita ng Taglish at hindi straight English at wala akong nakitang grammatical error sa sinabi niya sa TV. Hindi accurate ang mga sinabi mong sinabi ni Echo. Very casual ang interview doon at walang nagsasalita ng straight English. I'm not saying na napakahusay sa English ni Echo but definitely ay hindi siya bobing. Para sa isang taong hindi pa naman tapos sa pag-aaral ay masasabi kong he knows how to express himself well in English.

However, you can't blame yourself if sometimes you cant supress yourself from laughing from what you are hearing or reading which I think is normal. Some of the blunders are just laughable.

I remember one of her interviews well (too funny kasi), she was saying stuff about her career, her usual preoccupations, love and family lives (in English of course) and she seemed to have carried it off rather well until the topic came to height. She said that she was active in ball room dancing and how she antagonised in finding a partner tall enough for her to dance with. She remarked 'I was 5'11" last year but I grew now.' The interviewer asked, 'how tall are you now then?'
She beamed elegantly and confidently said 'I'm now 5'12"' :toofunny: :rotfl: :toofunny:

Regine, in fairness, can speak the language well. She often use the language to practice her communication skills. Besides, practice makes perfect right? And to think that she didn't even finished college. [ Comparing her to other college graduates nowadays?? how formidable.. :hopeless:
