Why don't you try and find out:

a) How many stockholders of publicly listed companies actually believe the financial statements presented by their management, and audited by our country's top accounting firms?

b) How many examiners in the BIR actually accept without examination a tax return with financial statements audited by an accounting firm?

If you come to a conclusion that the proportions are small (less than half, let's say), why don't you look for the reasons for this skepticism?

i think finding out if stockholders rely on the companies auditied financial statement is a very difficult one because the researchers do not know if who the stockholders of the company are...so it's too vague...the topic with the bir is quite interesting but studying with the government is really a tedious task so u really need hardwork...u can try it guys just do the best that u can ok? goodluck    :D :D :D

Stockholder lists of publicly listed companies are available from the companies' corporate secretaries and transfer agents. I would think that if these accounting students are worth the degrees they will soon receive, they should be able to get that information with a little effort and some resourcefulness.

lupus, thnx for ur reply our group will try doing the one related to BIR....we think it's really a good idea though there are really lot of risks with it coz it might sound like we're not convinced with the services that BIR provides and we're doubting about their credibility
